Can anyone recommended anything for very swollen, heavy uncomfortable breasts to soothe and help with the pain? I’m not breast feed and the midwife has advise me to just leave them as they should begin to return to normal in the next 10 days, however I’m just struggling with the pain and tenderness of them and my little one is unhappy because he can’t lay and snuggle on my chest properly due to my breasts. Any idea welcome.

I had mastitis when my milk came in as I have extra breast tissue in my armpit which was trying to make milk.
I am breastfeeding, but my armpit is not the ideal place for milk ducts!
My GP advised the following: warm packs encourage milk, cold packs discourage milk. So I was told to place heat packs on my breast and take hot showers, but to ice, ice, ice my armpit with ice packs, as well as frozen cabbage leaves. A couple of days of icing my armpit and the swelling reduced massively.
If you feel at all feverish and if there are any red patches on your breasts, go see a doctor and get antibiotics, as you may have mastitis and it can get very bad very quickly.
