Episiotomy won’t heal!!

Hi ladies,

I’m 7 weeks pp and having trouble with my Episotomy. The stitches came apart within the first week and I was told it would heal on its own. I had an infection but couldn’t take antibiotics due to breastfeeding. Infection has cleared up now thanks to teatree oil and I’m not longer in pain (although going toilet is still slightly uncomfortable). I’ve had a look and it seems as though the wound has healed from the inside but hasn’t closed up :( GP isn’t very helpful. Will it ever close up or will I be like this forever 😢

Hi OP, I think you should go back to your doctor and ask/tell them to refer you if you are worried. Flowers

I had a similar experience and I would say keep going back to your gp and ask for a referral to gynae if you are not comfortable. Mine took along time to heal probably just over 6 months for me to feel ‘normal’again. It will heal but these can take a long time

Similar experience i think it took about 3-4 months to heal from recollection, but it did heal!

It was a difficult time so you have my sympathies . Congratulations on your baby Flowers

Congratulations on your baby!

Go back to your GP but realistically it might just be a case of time. I had a small 1st degree tear that took ludicrously long to heal. It looked ok from the outside but the nerves took a lot longer to get better. I was still using numbing cream to dtd with poor DH at 9 months but strangely it got a lot better after I stopped bf. That's probably tmi but I remember desperately wondering if these things ever got back to normal. Hope you feel better soon and it's not getting you down too much Flowers
