Is this normal?

Hi,

So I have an 8 week old baby. My body was still getting rid of the blood etc in small amounts upto last week. However my baby slept through twice at the weekend, she is being breastfed so not meant to have periods. But after she had slept through the two nights I started bleeding again but a lot. Is this normal? Could I have started a period because she slept through those two nights?

I have read that once your baby feeds less often periods can begin. But I didn't know if that meant this early on. Just seems strange. I also get some pain (not bad, like period pain) in my abdomen

Does this sound like a period and is it normal under these circumstances?

Sounds normal, your body is readjusting that's all. Especially if your feeding less, you'll find you should start getting a normal cycle again soon x

Same thing happened to me at 7, 8 weeks. HV explained that you may have little pockets of lochia still and what happens when baby feeds again after a longer than usual (ie 2hours) break is that ur uterus cotracts like when you first started feeding and these contractions then expel those last bits of lochia left.
Or you could be having your first post pregnancy period. It's possible, even if you EBF.
