Does it get better?!

Almost three weeks since I gave birth.

My stitches itch so bad. I've tried looking down there but can't see a thing. Have had DP look and take some photos so I can see. No signs of infection. Can still see lots of stitches. When do they dissolve? The itching is driving me crazy. They are still sore at times but nowhere near as bad now.

I've had diarrhoea since I gave birth which isn't showing any signs of letting up any time soon. Any one else had this and know why? At first I was relieved because I was petrified about having to strain but the constant diarrhoea and the piles have made my butt very sore and burny.

Yes it gets better! Not sure about the diarrhoea, I had similar after I gave birth for a little while, but like you was relieved! Just bear with, keep clean and take pain killers!

It gets better in terms of the stitches, I wore those extra thick pads for way longer than I had to though just to be sure, very comfy. Don’t know about the diarrhoea though, I had horrific constipation for about 3/4 months. If the diarrhoea continues see a doctor, they don’t want you to suffer in silence just because you’re not sure if it’s normal.

Missed the diarrhoea part, agree with the poster above you should see a doctor, loose stools over weeks could lead to dehydration ect. As for the piles they go away I had them but I was constipated though, ended up with a nurse poking a suspository up my arse..

Yes! Give yourself time to heal. I think I felt normalish by the time of my six week check but I had other issues to do with bowel movements after a tear :|

I remember seeing some of my stitches floating away in the bath!

I promise you it gets better!! The itching was horrible for me too, I couldn't walk around for long periods of time, my bits felt constantly bruised... it was soooo sore. Anyways my son is 5 weeks today, I can honestly say I'm back to normal, it got worse before it got better. At one point I thought I had an infection but apparently it's because the stitches get tighter toward the end... I started bathing my once normal looking vagina in tea tree oil mixed in water! Really helped with the itching xx

It will get better. Drink lots of water as I remember my pee burning my stitches until a midwife suggested diluting the acid in it with lots of water. Much easier than trying to pour a cup of water down there every time u pee. I had internal and external tearing but felt 85% fixed at 5 weeks. Hang in there xxx

How are you? Have you seen your gp?
I saw this post before and wanted to reply but didn’t want people thinking I was trying to scare somebody! But I suffered diarrhoea postpartum and it turned out to be the first symptom of sepsis for me.
The stitches will get better - try to find time to bathe in a bath with lavender every day if you can Flowers

Yea it gets better! The best bit of advice I was given is put a towel down and sleep with no pants on, let the air get to your stitches. Walking round with a pad on all day especially in this weather will just be making them hot and irritated.
