1 day old baby keeps vomiting and crying when laying in his basket?

Hi everyone I had my baby yesterday morning and was sent home a few hours later as all was well with us both. A midwife is coming to my house today. But since about 6 pm my baby has been sick about 4 times. It’s straight after a feed, it’s not all his feeds, he’s taking 20ml every couple of hours. He’s also crying and sounding generally grumpy when laying down flat, but once picked up and lying in your arms he goes into a deep sleep and seams way more comfortable. Could it just be wind? He’s bumping a few times after feeds

Wind or reflux. I couldn't lie DS1 down flat for months. Try inclining his basket

Also keep him upright after feeds for 30 minutes. It's a right pain but if it is reflux then he will be in a lot of pain poor mite.

New babies just want to be held. Mine slept on me for most of her first month. The posseting is reflux. Like the other PP said, keep the baby vertical and avoid sudden movements after a feed.

He has been in your womb for 9 months, from there to your arms is less to adapt to than lying flat in a basket. He is used to being curled up, your movement, and hearing your heartbeat and your voice. Being outside of you is different enough.

Congratulations! My 6 week old was sick loads during the first 24 hours.Same advice as others really, try tilting Moses basket slightly and hold baby upright 20 mins after each feed.Something that works with mine when getting him to settle back into his Moses basket is to put a warm hot water bottle in then take it out a minute or so before I put him in.He pretty much didn’t sleep in his Moses basket for the first week though.Google The ‘Fourth Trimester’,it helped me understand exactly how my baby must be feeling in the big wide world!

Try putting it in the car seat. All the babies I know hated their baskets!

Thank you he’s a lot more settled now and taking feeds little and often. My midwife has been and says she thinks he may have had too much feed as he was taking 20mls then randomly took a lot more one feed and was sick since then.
