Tongue Tie

My almost 4 week old DS has just been diagnosed as having a posterior tongue tie. This came as welcome news after struggling with pain while breastfeeding and a shallow latch. DS will have treatment next week. I was just wondering whether, for those of you with LO’s who had tongue tie and had it treated, did you notice a difference in feeding right away? I’m so desperate for this pain to be over and to enjoy breastfeeding but I know it’s early days still, I guess I just want to hear some of your experiences after treatment Smile thanks!

Hi, yes we had a tongue tie cut for our DS, he had lost 12% from birth weight. The results were fantastic feeding wise, but bear in mind it may take a day for little one up learn to re latch and it isn't a pleasant experience to watch! Good luck and I'm sure it will improve feeding for you both 😊

Thank you! Yeah I’m dreading seeing him go through it Sad but I’m relieved to hear you had very positive results in terms of feeding Smile

Yes, both my DC have had a tt clipped.
DS1 had an instant improvement and latched straight away when he never had before.
DS2 could latch, just not well, so the improvement wasn't as stark for him and or took a couple of days before we really cracked it but it worked.

DS2's had a bit more blood because it was done when he wasn't due a feed and the milk seemed to help it heal.
