Please do not slate me as I feel horrific as it is. We went out with our little one (6 weeks old) yesterday afternoon, she was in the pram with the hood up, it was cloudy but the sun kept peeking out, it wasn't until we got home I noticed her red cheeks, I put wet cotton wool pads on her to cool her down, she's not been phased one bit by it. When we've got up this morning I've noticed tiny blisters on her cheeks, what the hell do I do? Can I put baby lotion on her? Or carry on with cotton wool pads?
My poor little girl, I can't believe what a tool I've been :-(

Do you have aloe Vera gel or anything like that? I would really be going to find a walk in centre due to the blisters you’ll need to very careful with what you put on it. Is that an option for you? Are you able to get to one? How is your baby in themselves are they still having milk no problem? It must be very stressful but also stay out of the sun now as much as possible until healed so I’m not much help hopefully someone will be along soon with some experience

user1499786242 · 05/05/2018 07:34

I would probably ring 111?
With such a young baby it's always better to be safe than sorry!
They may give you an out of hours app?
Not sure you're meant to put anything on burns like creams etc? But I'm No doctor!

Accidents happen, all you can do is learn from the experience
Don't be too hard on yourself x

Isadora2007 · 05/05/2018 07:37

Are you sure it’s not milk spots? Maybe get checked out for sure but it could be red from sun plus wee milk spots. I’d imagine blistered sunburn would be very painful.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 05/05/2018 07:40

A little bit of Sudocrem.

whirliebird · 05/05/2018 07:49

Coconut oil may help soothe/heal. I use it for everything x

earlybirdhasanap · 05/05/2018 07:52

Do not put coconut oil on a burn. Or any kind of oil.

bloomsburyer · 05/05/2018 07:57

I'm sure Sudocre says on the tub that it's for burns. But to be honest I think I'd get her checked over.

Pastaagain78 · 05/05/2018 07:58

Leave it alone. Get it looked at if you are worried. Are you sure it’s sunburn? Not mila or prickly heat? It she was burnt enough to blister it would be very painful for her.

Thanksgiving · 05/05/2018 08:00

I would take her to pharmacist and see what they think then prob 111 after that

lavalamp08 · 05/05/2018 08:00

Thanks for replying
I've googled and seen not to put anything oil based on, I think I'll try sudocrem and if it gets no better or looks worse then I'll ring 111, she's feeding fine and is her usual self so fingers crossed she'll be ok

I've attached a photo as I don't think they are milk spots but hope I'm wrong and they are

You can get sunburnt in cloudy weather too, it's not just clear blue skies you have to worry about.

bloomsburyer · 05/05/2018 08:02

That looks like sunburn. Definitely get her seen.

earlybirdhasanap · 05/05/2018 08:03

It does look like sunburn. Phone 111 for advice.

BodgingThisMumThing · 05/05/2018 08:03

Straight to the doctors and do not put any oil on a burn!

BodgingThisMumThing · 05/05/2018 08:04

Also you’re not a tool, these things happen!

donajimena · 05/05/2018 08:04

You need to ring 111 immediately. Blisters can be a route to serious infection. I'd even suggest a trip to a & e. Don't beat yourself up but you must do something about it.

Any burn in a child especially one so young needs to be seen by a Dr. I would also ring 111.

CherryBlossom23 · 05/05/2018 08:12

Definitely ring 111, the skin looks a bit puffed up too so it warrants medical attention

Seahawk80 · 05/05/2018 08:13

Just wanted to say don't beat yourself up. I took DS out for a short walk when he was 3 days old and he got burnt. I had the pram hood pulled right down but a shaft of light must have got in. It was really sunny but I was 3 day post c section so we literally went to the end of our road and back. He's fine now. I had a visit from the midwife that day and they said don't put anything on it. He didn't have blisters though. I would
Call 111 and get a snoozeshade to stop it happening again but be kind to yourself Thanks. I've attached a photo so you can see how red DS was. I felt awful but accidents happen and it's not like you just left her out in the sun and didn't bother to try to shade her.

Pastaagain78 · 05/05/2018 08:15

Yeah, don’t put anything on that. Get it looked at. Don’t want an infection in someone so small. You are not a tool. Things happen. Good luck.

Not helpful honky op already clearly feels bad. Get her seen op, these things happen Flowers

serenmoon · 05/05/2018 08:23

I'd get a doctor to take a look as she's so young. Don't feel bad, it's so easily done. Buy a snoozeshade for your Pram, I have the koo di one and get in the habit of always putting a hat on her when outside.

Mooey89 · 05/05/2018 08:27

That’s definitely sun burn.
She definitely needs to be seen.
Don’t beat yourself up, these things happen but please get her to a doctor
