Postnatal Acne

Hoping to get a few experiences from other mums who may have suffered from this!
As the title says, I have post natal acne, although my DS is now 9 months old. I have suffered with mild acne in the past but for the last few years my skin has been pretty clear with the occasional spot and it was amazing while I was pregnant! I haven’t been on hormonal birth control for 10 years. Since my little boy turned 6 months, my skin has flared up with lots of under skin bumps that stay for ages and don’t come to a head. They leave marks on my skin too. I feel like I’ve tried so many different lotions and potions - salycilic acid, glycolic acid etc and nothing is working.
The doctor has given me the option of Duac or lymecycline but I’m really wary about being dependent on antibiotics as presumably this is a short term measure.
For info, I haven’t breastfed, my cycles are back to normal and a blood test shows my hormone levels are fine.
Anyone have any experience of this? It’s really getting me down 😔

I got pregnancy acne and it just never went away. I tried a few of the -cyclines. Oxytetracycline (I think) started to work for me but I was lucky I had a lovely female doctor who offered to refer me to the dermatologist. Roaccutane sorted it out - but that is a serious, serious drug.

Thanks, I know in the grand scheme of things that it is not serious enough for roaccutane but I am sick of feeling like I can’t leave the house without make up 😔
