Tenderness around episiotomy

5 weeks pp today - episiotomy appears to have healed up. Just a pink line of scar tissue. Can’t see any stitches and all appears closed. Isn’t generally painful but it is tender around it? Not necessarily the actual scar but the skin surrounding it?

Almost like the muscle underneath the skin is tender. Is that normal for this stage?

I’m hoping that as they cut through the muscle too. Even though it heals externally in short time. It takes longer for everything underneath to resort to normal 🤞🏻

Hi Anna can't really help but thought I'd bump for you (and me too)
I'm only 2 weeks pp but had had very little pain until 2 days ago.. Yesterday was so bad I feed put little one standing up as sitting down was too painful but having looked at episiotomy site it all looks as though it is healing fine (although maybe I just don't know what I'm looking for)

To be honest I think it'll be tender for months. Up to a year or so if I remember correctly.
