I’m wondering if This is normal or if there’s something I should or could be doing to sort it out? It still really hurts to sit and particularly painful in transition from sitting to standing.

Mine was the same and lasted a very long time. I’d say months for it to feel even remotely normal. I remember well the pain when getting up.

I didn’t seek help so maybe that’s why it rumbled on. Maybe see your gp or self refer to physio now rather than wait?

You have my sympathy Flowers

oooh yes i remember that being the worst thing after giving birth, i was in pain for months. the thing that helped me the most was getting a special wedge-shaped coccyx cushion (google it). i took it everywhere with me, it made a massive difference! then eventually my coccyx healed and i don't need it any more. don't delay - i feel an almost-evangelical nostalgic zeal about my cushion when i look back on it now!

I had awful pain in my coccyx for a few weeks after giving birth and when I googled I found out about coccydynia. From what the nhs website says it’s fairly common after giving birth as the muscles and ligaments around the coccyx become very flexible and stretch during labour.

Thankfully my pain went after a couple of weeks but if I were you I’d go to your gp, the internet says that there are things that can be done such as physio therapy.

Hope it goes soon op Smile

Thanks so much, I’ve ordered a coccyx cushion and going to look into getting some physio as haven’t really felt any improvement for the past month. Breastfeeding is hard enough without sitting down itself being difficult!

No advice really but I feel for you. I had the same and took several months before it stopped. Makes breastfeeding even harder as you say. Did anyone have this after subsequent births? It's one of the things putting me off round 2!

Happened to me after my second child. Years later following a spinal Xrays for back issues, turns out I broke my coccyx during the second stage of labour. No wonder it hurt so much! Was totally ignored by HCPs. Eventually stopped hurting after about 6 months. Hopefully yours recovers far quicker than that.
