Very low cervix

Hi,

I had my second baby 4.5 months ago. Fairly straightforward labour and delivery (no intervention), but a biggish baby (9lbs 2oz).

I recovered well from the labour and am not in any pain etc (had a few stitches). However, I can feel what I think is the end of my cervix 2-3cm inside my vagina. It feels like a round firm ball, and not painful at all, and I haven't had any bleeding since postnatal bleeding finished. I am exclusively breastfeeding and therefore unlikely to be ovulating and as such, cervix should be low AFAIK.

I visited GP today for an unrelated issue and mentioned this to her. She immediately said it shouldn't be that low and suggested I book an appointment for next week to be examined, which I have done. I'm now feeling a bit anxious and wondered if anyone could offer any wisdom / has any experience relevant to this?

Thanks in advance

Is this a prolapse maybe? Mine is definitely much lower than t was before my second largeish baby, similar weight to yours. I can definitely feel it easily.

Thanks, Ragusa. Do you have a prolapse then (as diagnosed by GP)?

Sounds like a prolapse. GP will be able to diagnose this and will likely refer on to gynae for further assessment/management

Thanks mummarosie1. Do you know what the treatment is likely to be?
