Postnatal depression

My baby is 4 weeks old and for the last 2-3 weeks I've been feeling very low. Gradually getting worse each day. I have little to no support at all from family or my partner.

I have had anxiety issues and depression in the past (which I have overcome).

How do I know if I have postnatal depression or if it's just the baby blues?

I'm loosing patience, I'm irritable, the sound of my baby crying irritates the life out of me. I don't know how to stop this feeling.

Go to your GP, book an urgent appointment. I had PND and it needs treatment. Also never underestimate how tough those first few months are.

I don't want mediation. I've tried before...

A lot of people are adverse to the thought of meds. But I had pnd after ds1, through my pregnancy with ds2 and pushed it down thinking I could manage. I didn't accept meds until I was pregnant with dd which was 5 years on. I can't explain the relief and well feeling that came with being on the correct medication. If you've not tried every medication and every dose possible please don't discount it.

I regret every day I didn't accept medication, so much lost time being emotionally close with my kids due to depression and anxiety. I had a breakdown which I didn't even admit to

It's about the right medication.
