Hi, I had a planned c section on Monday and had my stitches out yesterday.. im absolutely dying to have a bath!! I don't actually have a shower so my partner is having to sponge bath me basically which is seriously not nice lol I feel great in myself as in I'm up about moving about a fully functioning with little pain (some severe pain sometimes as I know I over do it) but would love to know when it's ok to bath? I forgot to ask the midwife yesterday but I'm pretty sure they did say at the hospital after my stitches came out. I'll just add they were non disolvable ones thanks x

I think with a vaginal birth you're not supposed to have a bath for 6 weeks. I'm not 100% sure I'm remembering that correctly. I don't know with c sections though, sorry.

Six weeks with no bath? You'd be quite smelly by then.
I had a bath at the hospital after each delivery so I could feel human again before I went home.
If stitches are out then you can have a bath.

I think you're supposed to keep the scar as dry as possible, so no soaking in a bath until it's healed. I was told to shower and just let the soapy water run over and not wash it directly. And make sure it's completely dry afterwards.

Can you get a handheld shower hose thing that fits into the taps in the meantime?

I just had my c section stitches out too. Before that I was told just shower with water, but as the stitches were taken out I asked if I could use soap and midwife said I could take a bath!

You need to wait til the scar is healed over before you can soak it. You could have a very shallow bath that wouldn't cover it and just splash water over.

I had a bath yesterday and all was ok.. no soap it was under water i let it air dry after and it seems absolutely fine. The midwife said it's healing really well although I've not had the courage to look yet! X

I was dreading seeing it when the bandage came off but was amazed how good it looked so dont be too scared! After 6 months it was barely visible.

I had EMCS last November and was told I could have a shallow bath as long as the water didn't soak my scar. I had those paper type stiches over the top and could remove them myself.

I was very afraid to look and got my DH to look first. We were both very surprised at how thin the line was and 8 months later half of it is barely visible. You'll be surprised I think

I was told it was fine to have a bath a few days afterwards, and did have baths with 3x c sections from about 5 days post op each time, but that was perhaps not the right advice if lots of people have been told not to soak the scar.
