Kicking myself really. I delivered 7 days ago and was in hospital for 4 nights, though I was mobile from straight after birth. I declined the clexane injections in hospital because I've got a history of haemorrhaging and am very active (despite high BMI), and I had slightly low blood pressure in hospital (usually 120/80, was 120/50-110/70). I wore the stockings for 5 days.
Now I've got a tender spot on my right calf and I'm slightly freaking out that it could be DVT. I had terrible cramp in this leg during pregnancy so wonder if it's just a hangover from that. It doesn't hurt to walk on, isn't red or swollen that I can see, doesn't ache, but it is tender to touch or rub.
I've also had a sharp frontal headache for about two days on and off, but I hope this is just tiredness/mild dehydration from having a new baby and a toddler to care for.
Does this sound like DVT or not? I'm going to the postnatal clinic at lunchtime and I'm unsure whether to mention it. I don't want to cause a fuss if I can help it because I had a hell of a time immediately after birth and am feeling quite good at the moment being at home.
But obviously I don't want to die either... and I do feel like an idiot for thinking I was making an informed decision about declining the clexane when perhaps I should have accepted them and let them deal with any possible consequences.
Argh. Tell me what to do.
