Really scared. Baby has swollen glands

Hi this is my second thread in a few days due to health. I suffer with quite bad health anxiety & have done so much while life, I'm terrified. Ive found two swollen glands on the back of my baby's head and neck, they move & feel a bit swollen. I'm so scared. Why are they there? I'm taking her drs this morning. Ive been in bits since I found them, I can't think about anything else...I'm terrified it's something serious. Didn't know where to post this

I shouldn't imagine this is anything to worry about. She probably just has a bit of a cold/ virus. My DD has this last week when she was under the weather. Perhaps just keep an eye on them for a few days and see if they go down?

In fact I think being able to move them under the skin is a sign that they are lymph nodes

They have been there for about a week. She had a temperature about a week ago, that's all I can think of. I booked an appointment from when I found them, they haven't gone down or got any bigger. She teething..I am so worried about them

Please try not to worry. I know it's easier said than done when it comes to our children but it's more than likely to be nothing. Your GP will obviously be able to advise better than someone on a chat forum though!

I know how horrible health anxiety can be, and you've done the right thing posting as keeping it bottled up makes it infinitely worse! Try not to worry (easier said than done) but if she's been under the weather recently it's likely to be the remnants of a bug her body is getting rid of. It may even be teething related. See what the dr says, and keep busy till the appointment so you're not worrying about it constantly. for you

I think this can happen quite easily with babies, glans/nodes come up when they're under the weather then they stay up for a while. My DD when she was a baby had one behind her ear come up, which then stayed up for several months. I saw the GP about it and she referred us to a specialist because the lump had been there for so long, the specialist gave DD a quick check over and said there was nothing to worry about and the lump went down over time.

That makes me feel better. I googled stupidly and it made me more worried to the point of tears, not ever gonna do that again. I really hope it's nothing

Actually I just remembered that when I found the lumps on my DD I had a fleeting moment of panic and and started searching online for what it could be so I totally understand why you're worried. I just felt her head now though and they have gone. All the best for your appointment this morning

Please don't worry it probably means your little one has an infection such as a cold. You are doing the right thing going to the gp.

I am in the waiting room. Heart going so fast, my baby is smiling and talking away to herself. Bless her

Dr felt the glands and reassured me that its normal and there's nothing that feels concerning to her. She told me they may take several weeks to go down. I feel so silly for worrying

Glad your mind has been put at rest. Never feel silly for worrying, it's what mothers are for!

You're still learning and you'll know for next time. I didn't know about this and would have freaked out as well - I'm glad you've posted as it might help us in future too. I've had terrible anxiety about DS's health - it's got a bit better recently as I've started using some CBT techniques I found online. My favourite one is to stop and ask myself 'what would a non-anxious person do in this situation?' - sounds simple but it really helps me.

Sounds like your baby has a good strong immune system. That'll be thanks to her fantastic mummy taking good care of her
