Postpartum thyroiditis

Does anyone know anything about it?
Apparently I am in the hyperthyroid phase with a free t4 of 77. Feel horrendous.
Would be good to hear from others.

Nothing on there about being hyperthyroid as part of postpartum thyroiditis. Few hypo posts.
V keen to find out how long this will last, risks and treatment options compatible with bfing

I had it. With my first. Currently waiting results for my second. I don't know what my levels were but the put me on carbimazole to bring my levels down, then levothyroxine to balance them out. They called it the block and replace method. Took a year of medication and regular blood tests and I went into remission. I can't advise on breast feeding as I wasn't at the time but I'm sure they will be able to medicate around it. It's pretty crap to begin with but it will be temporary. The only problem I found was we had to wait till I was in remission before we could have a second baby.

Crap- a year!
Tbh I am a little suspicious that I had other with previous kids as I put more weight on post delivery than I did in pregnancy and it was night on impossible to lose (it blamed feeding). Was exhausted and a bit unlike myself anxiety and mood wise too.

You lose weight with hyperthyroidism. That's why I suspect I have it now as I'm losing weight without trying. The heart palpatations were the worst. I had to go on beta blockers to steady them. Do you have a hospital appointment for it? They'll explain the course of action there.

Haven't even seen gp yet
Had bloods on Friday am an d gp receptionist phoned to ask me to go on Monday but gp had said to go to a and e if felt unwell over the weekend

Gp has sent me up to see the physicians at hospital so hanging out in a and e with boobs about to explode. Not sure I fancy getting the breast pump out in a busy a and e waiting room

I sympathise with you op.
I had a level similar to yours when it was discovered Shock
Can't comment on the breastfeeding but know how rough you probably feel.
It's a horrendous condition.
None of the treatments worked for me and I ended up having a thyroidectomy four years ago now. I'm stable enough although I have Graves' disease which is what caused mine so when I have a relapse of that,normally times of stress or if the kids have brought a bug into the house,it can be awful.
Hopefully block and replace will work for you.
The other option they offer is radio iodine therapy which I refused as I had to be isolated from the dc for the treatment time and it wouldn't have been practical. Isolation would have been impossible at home.
Mine was very severe due to the autoimmune issue but I'm on a forum where lots of ladies have had it like you and are now absolutely fine.
It's a roller coaster but hopefully it will settle down with medication.
