period.,.? or something else?

I had my second baby 10 weeks ago and over the last 2 days have had occasional blood stained discharge when I wipe after going to the loo. I haven't had a period yet but my baby is bottle fed (and had been pretty much since birth) so my period could come st any time. However my periods didn't resume for 7 months after the birth of my first baby.
I'm worried that this is something sinister as it hasn't really developed into a period- sometimes there's nothing when I wipe. I have had occasional period type cramps too.
Has anyone else had this? Any ideas of its normal after childbirth?
My last smear was September 2014 and I'm booked for another one in 2 weeks time.

at 6 weeks I had that and it also looked like mucus plug but I didn't get my first period till I was 9 weeks, it lasted over a week and I'm back on at 11weeks. so it could be the start of it.
