Post c section check up.

Its been 16 weeks since my c section and no one has checked it out. The labour went wrong, I had a crash c section, undiagnosed fibroids, lost lots of blood. I should have thought after such big surgery a follow up would happen. My 6 week check with the nurse was useless, she just spoke about contraception & smoking & said she was unable to discuss the effects of pregnancy as she wasn't qualified to Hmm
Just wondering what other people's experiences have been & if I make doctors appointment what should I ask for? To see a gynaecologist, an obstetrician? I would like other children in the future & wonder if the birth I had may impact that.

If all is well the six week check is the only postnatal check that you get, although this is usually with a GP, not a nurse. They should discuss your recovery at this appointment, and check how your wound is healing and whether any discharge has now stopped. I'd make a GP appointment and, if your GP was unable to answer your questions, ask for a referral back to the hospital.

As your labour was traumatic you can request a debriefing session from your local hospital. They will go through what happened on the day and also talk to you about the impact if any, that it may have on future births.

The six week check up is frustratingly useless.
