pain under left rib-in lung? :-/

My little one is now 2wks 3days, normal straight forward delivery.
Since yesterday I've developed a pain under my left rib and it feels like it's in my lung, it's not constant- and it's a sharp pain if I inhale/exhale too far, it gets worse if ive walked around etc then sit down, then if I breath deeply it sort of makes me catch my breath, have no other symptoms.
I'm worried it might be a clot or something, my dad's side of the family have bad veins in their legs and get really bad varicose veins.
Anyone had a pulmonary embolism? Is the pain even a symptom?

I'd phone your maternity ward just to be on the safe side. I think you're still under their care for the first 4 weeks. Congratulations on the birth and hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Smile
The pain isn't there all the time so that's why I thought it might be something else, I see a health visitor now who is about as much use as a wet paper bag, I'll see how it goes today and maybe call maternity ward. X

I'm a GP. Yes, stabbing pain worse when you breathe in can be a symptom of a pulmonary embolism and you're at higher risk when pregnant and shortly after delivery, so I would get this checked out today - may well be fine but no point taking risks. Why don't you phone 111?

Thanks for advice smiley. I'll phone 111 if it persists, sometimes it's there and other times it's not though.
