Periods and breastfeeding

Hi, I'm 15 weeks post birth and it would seem my periods have made an appearance, even though I'm breastfeeding!
This is day 4/5 now and it's pretty heavy, too.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

Congrats on the new arrival Flowers
My first period was 6 weeks after giving birth and I was BF too - I was amazed! Siblings can be less than a year apart, so perhaps not that unusual.

Hi thanks for replying.
I was poorly for a couple of days last week. Didn't eat or feed baby much due to sickness. Could that have fooled my body?!

I had a random af when dd was about 3/4 months old and then nothing. I thought that was them returning as it lasted a week and was pretty much what I'd had before but then gone again and she's now 7 months. Who knows how this is meant to work.

Are you exclusively bf? I've read it can make a difference.

The amount you feed has an effect. The body thinks if bf is reduced then the baby is no longer so reliant and begins the process of being able to conceive again. I came across lots
of similar info when looking into whether bf was a reliable contraceptive.

If something doesn't feel right I would always check with a midwife or Dr though, just to be sure.

Nope. ..6 months here and nothing. Are you exclusively feeding and at night?

I think some people are just unlucky. I was exclusively breastfeeding twins and only missed one period post birth. They were back with a vengence after 8 weeks!!
