blood when I poo

I haven't got piles ... but ever since giving birth poo has hurt and there's often a 'sharp' pain and drops of blood.

The pharmacy gave me glycerine suppositories and fybogel.

Is there anything else I can do? Don't want it to get worse. I'm BFIng so drugs need to be suitable for that.

Had a fast natural birth - 2nd degree tear which healed fast. Didn't think the sore bum would last longer!

I was prescribed lactulose by my doctor.

When did you give birth? Have you had your postnatal check up yet? I have a 4-week old and had a similar birth - fast, natural with 2nd degree tear - and I am still getting some blood when I have a BM too. I did have piles though so most likely that is the cause with me.

My doctor prescribed me a stool softener but I've stopped using it recently as things have been getting a bit better. I'd say if you keep using the Suppositories and Fybogel it should improve by itself. Also keep drinking lots of water as BF-ing takes a lot out of us. Need to follow my own advice there as I drink way too much tea and need to watch my fluid intake more carefully when I'm bf-ing!

You've probAbly got a small fissure from passing a big stool. Now you need to soften things up for a while to give it chance to heal!

Ds is 4 months and until very recently bloody and painful poo was the norm. Lots of stitches and infection meant it took a long time for me to heal though. ..

Thanks all. Will ask my GP for a stool softener.

I am also guilty of not drinking enough which probably hardens them too!

I don't mean to be doom and gloom but I gave birth in feb 14 and since then II have had an anal fissure which is exactly as your describing
blood and sharp pain I have been using a cream called recto genic it worked then I had a bm and it's opened it self up again . II'm still using the cream but find it makes no difference now so next step I think for me is botox in the bum !! Confused I would get checked out if it goes on longer ththan a year
