Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It's a follow up AQ. I think we have moved from vulvo-vaginitis to post-void dribble but will see what the paed says.

EustaciaVye · 12/04/2011 10:46

I was right and she has been prescribed oxybutynin to help it. :( They only had tablets though so how I'm going to get her to take it, crushed up, or otherwise is beyond me.

jabberwocky · 12/04/2011 13:48

I missed your post EV. Are you doing exercises along with the patching? Ask them to check fusion and binocularity along with visual acuity to really get a handle on her level of improvement.

EustaciaVye · 12/04/2011 14:52

jabber - They havent told us to do any exercises but it is obvious the eyes are now seeing differently whereas previously the vision was the same despite the wander. She is wearing patches for 4 hours per day. They are going to do another glasses check in August I think.

jabberwocky · 13/04/2011 01:44

I think it's really time to get an opinion from a developmental optometrist, EV. Try the BABO site for one in your area.

EustaciaVye · 13/04/2011 09:01

Thanks Jabber. We have a follow-up in 8 weeks so I will ask for a proper care plan and run it by you :) If it doesnt seem very good then I'll look into a behavioural optometrist. Thank you!

Indith · 13/04/2011 16:39

EV when the dcs had swine flu ds was deemed too old for the liquid and had to have the capsules. We emptied them, added a spoonful of sugar and a tiny bit of juice, he then took it fine in an oral syringe. Would that be possible for the tablets if you crushed them up fine?

My lovely, lovely best friend is pregnant. I am over the moon for her as I know that she took longer than she had hoped to conceive her second so it is wonderful for her to have become pg with number 3 so quickly but now I've just come home from her house I'm in floodswelling up like a great big wuss because 1) she is moving ot Canada in July so it could be years before I meet the baby which just serves to highlight the fact that I am losing my best friend and 2) I am so very, very jealous. Her youngest is only a year old, dd is 2, I wanted to be pg by now :(. My next blood test had better have good news Angry.

EustaciaVye · 13/04/2011 16:52

Thanks Indith. We are putting the ground up tablets into banana milkshake. :)

I know how awful it is to want to be pregnant. (with DD2) Not much can make you feel better....:(

accessorizequeen · 16/04/2011 00:00

Must be hard getting dd to wear patch 4 hours a day, ev, I had real trouble getting ds to do two and he is a reasonably compliant boy.
Indith, didn't know you were seriously trying! Eeek, will you ever get any sleep?? But, er good luck with it! Grin I thought you had been feeling really low and tired of late, maybe that affects fertility? I do see now (finally) why people are keen to have dc close together as the youngest 3 are v. matey with common interests.

House not going well, grrrr stupid sellers. If we don't move before summer hols I shall be fuming! But ho, finally managed to book a cottage for us in Norfolk so hope that will be a jolly lark (Easter Sat, indith, was that when we were going to meet up, sorry if so, could do Easter Fri if you're around then??). Really must go to bed and fight my insomnia there instead...

Indith · 16/04/2011 09:29

Not seriously trying AQ, I'm not allowed due to freakishly low iron. If I'm lucky, the next blood test will show increased levels with all the tablets I'm taking. If so then it probably means that it was caused by heavy periods and I'll be allowed to get pregnant. If not then I suppose there will be more investigation. I'm prepared to bet on the heavy periods outcome though since they have been pretty nasty and all the endometriosis symptoms have been creeping back. I figure it is pretty pointless sorting that out until I'm done with babies though!

I think you need the holiday more than the meet up! Take your mind off the house and get some rest (well, sort of). We won't get to Hull before kids tea-time on the Friday as MIL wants in on the action so we need to go via Leeds. Of course this means that dd will sleep inthe car onthe way from Leeds so we won't get her to bed before aout 11pm so plenty of time for a playdate Hmm. I'll be hitting the gin.

jabberwocky · 17/04/2011 15:30

I couldn't face a third one. Ds1 spent the night with my parents last night and just having ds2 was soooo easy.

EustaciaVye · 17/04/2011 17:25

thankfully AQ Dd is happy to wear her patch so that is one battle I dont need to have.

jabberwocky · 19/04/2011 13:32

My mother had a heart cath last week for shortness of breath. They discovered that she needs a quadruple bypass and the surgery is on Thursday. Life is hurtling onward and I'm just trying to stay caught up atm! I would love for things to slow down sometime but apparently this is my normal state iykwim.

Indith · 19/04/2011 17:58

Goodness! Lots and lots of good wishes heading your way, we'll be thinking of you on Thursday.

EustaciaVye · 20/04/2011 08:01

Jabber - sounds scary but I'm sure she will be fine. Thinking of you x

jabberwocky · 20/04/2011 13:48

We've asked around about the doctor and he's gotten really good reviews so she is having it done locally, which is nice. she can't seem to understand why my brother and I are going to the hospital tomorrow Confused I finally mentioned that my Dad is going to need company!

jabberwocky · 21/04/2011 23:37

Most of you have probably already seen this on FB. Mother did well in the surgery and will be in ICU for a day or two before she's moved into a regular room. I'm going back to see her in about 3 hours. She may be awake by then. Dad has gone home to rest and doesn't like driving in the dark so I'll be giving him a phone call to update. I didn't think I was terrbily stressed before but now I feel completely exhausted!

Indith · 22/04/2011 07:48

I'm glad things have gone well, I hope she has a speedy recovery. Take care Jabber, make sure you get some rest too x

EustaciaVye · 22/04/2011 21:13

what indith said :)

accessorizequeen · 22/04/2011 23:46

awww, me too, jabber, hope she comes out of it ok.

jabberwocky · 22/04/2011 23:51

She's awake and responsive today but still v v groggy. They have decided to keep her in the intensive care unit until at least tomorrow. The surgeon came in while I was there this afternoon to do an extra check on her and didn't seem overly concerned so I am hopeful she is more alert when I go back tonight.
Between this and my staff deciding to come unglued a bit I have decided I have time to metabolize a couple of glasses of wine before I have to head out again!

accessorizequeen · 22/04/2011 23:55

Take care, jabber or you can't take care of her and your boys! Glasses of wine sounds like a fab idea btw. I'm up late because we're going on hols tomorrow and I can't sleep for worrying about what I've forgotten to pack. Really must go to bed now tho!

castlesintheair · 24/04/2011 11:58

Sorry to hear about your DM jabber but pleased she is on the mend.

Back from Greece last night

Indith · 24/04/2011 18:59

I am at home.

Dh is at home.

The children are not at home.

This is odd.

I am going to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep all week. Oh and do some decorating too since that is the main point of the children being chucked at the grandparents Grin

Jabber how is your mum? Hope things are well x
