Grin Ooooh! naughty! I was quite a 'good' kid, but my Db was very naughty...these days he would've been dx'd as autistic/asbergers, but he's 44 now and it didn't 'exist' back then, but he was a nightmare! love him to bits now of course! :)

My Ds has found that a compass makes holes and gouges in his previously lovely chunky pine bed frame Angry and then tries to tell me he did it when he was 7 Hmm. I don't think so! he too is very mildly asd I'm sure, although they wouldn't give him the 'label' which is fine by me, he only ticks a few markers, but it often points towards things he does. He doesn't get pocket money, so I can't get him to replace anything.

Your poor Dd. My own Dd loves her wand to bits, so I fully appreciate the devastation having it broken for you can cause, her original one was broken beyond any kind of use last November, so a new one had to be put on her Christmas list :)

Let's hope both our Ds's grow out of it before too long! Grin

jabberwocky · 21/01/2011 01:59

Poor Indith's dd :( It really is too bad about the fairy wand.

That story reminds me of the joke about aliens landing and giving a device to a man that will cure all the ills of mankind. What is the first thing that the guy does with it? Takes it apart to see how it works.

ta-dum-dum

Men and boys are really hardwired completely differently. As the only female in our house I am frequently mystified by them.

solo · 21/01/2011 12:34

That's very true jabber! my brother took the car door off its hinges when he was little!

Indith · 22/01/2011 08:37

My mum was quite amused and started reminding me of the stories told about my uncle. Someone told him petrol burns so he got some in a little pot, lit it and poured it off the balcony Shock and then there was the time he had heared about electrical sockets and wanted to test out a few theories. He was interrupted thankfully by his parents just as he was trying to persuade his little sister to hold 2 pins into the (unearthed) socket Shock. I hope ds sticks to trashing fairy wands!

solo · 22/01/2011 13:47

Shock the fairy wands are preferable aren't they? my brother was (and still is to a point) fascinated by fire. I'm absolutely astounded by the fact that he never burned the house down or burned himself tbh. Being older than him, I was always telling him off for sticking things into the Ascot flame (they were open in those days ). He usually got found out by my parents due to the ash and melted plastic...thankfully so far, my Ds doesn't seem to have got into such things. Think I'd have a nervous breakdown if he started that sort of thing.

Indith · 22/01/2011 16:26

God I hope ds doesn't develop a fire obsession, we have a fire burning at some point almost every day of the year so he could go some serious damage with very little effort!

accessorizequeen · 26/01/2011 11:09

Funnily enough my db fascinated with fire too, he set fire to a field in Canada once (we lived there for a while). Trying to sell/buy house at present, bit mad! All v exciting tho. Ds2 starting to get preoccupied with starting school, want to buy him uniform now but silly I know.

SatinShoes · 26/01/2011 17:30

Hi everyone. Very busy with RL at the moment. Hope everyone is ok.

jabberwocky · 27/01/2011 02:15

Same here, Satin. Finding RL pretty exhausting atm. Just had the stomach flu bug go through the family. Dh and I had a light version but the boys got the full-service version. bleurgghhhhh

Indith · 28/01/2011 12:58

AQ hope it is all going well!

All a bit worn out here. Dd back to waking a million times again rather than 2/3. Molar, stonking cold.sore throat/cough thing. Dh is very run down, has been working hard, long hours, dcs hardly seen him. He has a throat thing going on with swollen glands but can't stop and rest. He'll be working this weekend too :(

Am going to attempt to see if dd can be dry at night. She wees when half asleep and tossing around and it bothers her. Will stick her in a pull-up tonight and lift her around 10pm and see what happens. Hope it goes well.

solo · 28/01/2011 16:27

Good luck Indith :)

accessorizequeen · 29/01/2011 16:53

oh dear, jabber, doesn't sound like a fun week for you all :(
indith, :( dd sleeping habits. Must be so hard if dh not around and/or ill too. On the positive side, I see your biscuit recipe is on the homepage wow, must try those they sound scrummy.
seeing more houses tomorrow, 2nd viewing on one. I'm so excited at prospect of dining kitchen instead of my closet come kitchen now.

solo · 29/01/2011 18:29

Biscuit recipe?!!

Indith · 29/01/2011 18:37

The cookies are slowly going to achieve world domination.

Lifted dd last night, popped her on the potty, she came around enough to realise where she was and said "no" in no uncertain terms Grin. No wee then. She did sleep better though so fingers crossed for the end of the cold/cough/molar growing combo. This family is in desperate need of a break. Counting down the days until Feb 12th!

AQ do we get a link? Or just a FB link? I looooove looking at houses. RightMove porn Grin

castlesintheair · 29/01/2011 18:45

Ooh, yummy sounding biscuits Indith. If you want to make ginger ones, do you use fresh grated or is the powder best?

AQ, yes link please. I am a property porn queen and constantly on the look, and never moving ...

jabberwocky · 29/01/2011 18:52

Am Envy at your baking skills Indith. Perhaps I will copy the recipe for my unknown-time-in-the-future when I may actually be able to bake again.

Boys are better and with grandparents today. So theoretically time to work on cleaning out the garage as it's a beautiful day and it's just ridiculous that we can't fit even one car into a 2 car garage going on two years in this house Confused

Now to see what I actually get done...

Oh, and do post house pics AQ! I'm really excited for you at the prospect of more room.

Indith · 29/01/2011 18:53

I'm lazy and just use powdered. They'd be bloody good with crystalized in Grin Really it is just a fab base that you can put anything in. My sister has made them with some cocoa replacing some of the flour for double chocolate goodness.

solo · 29/01/2011 18:55

Me too Indith and castles, proper hoe me Grin would love to move house or even just have a third bedroom...

accessorizequeen · 29/01/2011 23:17
Grin well too much to hope for I guess indith re: dd night trained. Have only just managed it with ds2 fgs! Dts showing little sign and if they do I ignore it... Have only 2 dcs tomorrow morning so might be chance for cookie making but dd unwell so maybe not as she's a little klingon right now. Um, house porn, seeing a 6 bed one tomorrow but not online yet, dp and I staying up to pore over the details!
solo · 30/01/2011 00:04

6 bedrooms...!

accessorizequeen · 30/01/2011 00:25

I think it's in a bit if a state tho solo. I do feel sheepish even looking at these massive houses but we do live in back of beyond as indith knows so prices more affordable here. Very quirky houses round here. Saw one on fri with servants staircase, and another had a secret door. Saw you pop up in AWT chat, are you slow cooking now? I fail with mine must get the hang of it!

solo · 30/01/2011 01:38

I will be slow cooking aq. I also was one of the lucky winners of his book, so will definitely be trying out new things and not just 'stews!'

My first house had to be done up from scratch. Really enjoyed it, but then, I was only 20 and had no Dc's so it wasn't so bad to do...
I'd quite like a project in motion, but I'd have to have the money to do it as well as the time and energy. Full stop then! got none of the above! Grin

Love the thought of servants staircases and secret doors...says 'spooky' to me!

jabberwocky · 30/01/2011 02:26

love the idea of secret doors!

Ours has a bomb shelter Shock

built in the 60's with the whole Bay of Pigs thing going on...

Indith · 30/01/2011 08:18

Houses are great, it is so much fun seeing all the little quirks and I adore older houses. Sounds great fun AQ. House prices are the great thing about living ooop North either in Hull or around here. Mind you the problem here is that all these villages have the odd big house from the bosses and then a bunch of miners houses so you have houses like ours and then a big leap up with nothing in between which worries me a bit for in a few years as I don't want to leave the village!

Jabber when the dcs are being noisy and annoying can you just shove them in the bomb shelter and have some peace and quiet then?

accessorizequeen · 30/01/2011 08:44

Ah, good on you solo, is it any good? I've got a few of his SC recipes as it was a AWT SC but dp is the man for that. I'm not a fan of stews I must admit.
I love the bomb shelter jabber. Tis the quirky bits of victorian houses I love so much, but dp's mum keeps going on about money-pit and maintenance. Shall just ignore as we couldn't fit in a new build with tiny rooms!
