Welcome Dylthan :)

Gloria42 · 31/12/2010 12:27

Hello there everyone

Indith · 31/12/2010 17:32

Gloria! Hello my dear!

I can't believe they all start school in September. School? How the hell did that happen?

Ds will be the last to turn 4 in January. I can't believe how much of a boy he is. He is all into lego and inventing things and imaginary play and is a bambi on ice mass of gangly limbs. Thankfully he still gives lovely snuggles in bed :)

Elibean · 31/12/2010 19:11

Hello Gloria Smile I remember you well!

Dythlan, definitely lovely people here...and strength in numbers, I say: we can prop each other up against the shock of our (recent) babies starting school, come September.

Just popping in to say Happy New Year, all...may 2011 be healthy, merry, and satisfying Xmas Smile

jabberwocky · 31/12/2010 19:24

Hi Gloria!

I think ds2 has been in school the longest, bless him. We did Mother's Day Out 4 days a week starting when he was 18 months old and then he started proper pre-school this fall. Ds1 would have never been able to do that but thankfully ds2 took it all in stride.

I just picked up my new car! It talks to me Shock which is fabulous since I generally get lost going anywhere. But, no more.

NewYearNewSolo · 31/12/2010 21:59

Happy New Year Ladies!!! Grin

Lenni · 01/01/2011 01:00

Happy new year! I remember you too Gloria. And second Dylthan, is there a clue to your DCs names there? If so you have good taste Wink

DD has done a year of preschool now and because our village school is so small - just 30 children - she spent the first 2 terms in the infants class so the going to school thing will be a bit of a non event for us. Nice for her, but I feel a little cheated. She'll just carry on in the same class but stay all day. She doesn't wear uniform but most of the preschoolers do so it does just feel like school. They will be a year of 13 though, something of a modern day record for the village (usually they take 3 or 4, none at all this Sept) so its probably for the best that they are all settled in already as I'm not sure the reception teacher is programmed for that many yet! DS will be one of 4, his birthday parties will be a breeze compared to DD's!

Hope 2011 brings you all lots of love and happiness. And Indith, I hope this is the year you get to sleep. Night all x

Lenni · 01/01/2011 01:01

That was meant to say welcome not second! Blardy phone.

SatinShoes · 01/01/2011 07:33

Happy New Year all.

Welcome Dylthan

Welcome back Solo, Gloria and Elibean

Grim Christmas here tbh. DD1 still unwell. Family stuff. Aaargh.

Lets hope 2011 is good for everyone.

jabberwocky · 01/01/2011 09:44

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope things get better soon, Satin, in every way.

DylthanThroughTheSnow · 01/01/2011 10:56

Happy new year everyone!!!

Thank you for all the welcomes Smile

Lenni- yes my username is my 2 dc's names smooshed together and thank you Blush

NewYearNewSolo · 01/01/2011 18:11

I went to bed in the early hours full of aches and pains! I have the flu it seems :( but tbh, the Dc's have had it between them for 4 weeks, so I actually thought I'd escaped until January 1st! Grin

jabberwocky · 01/01/2011 19:04

Managed to stay awake until midnight with the dcs in the playroom. Dick Clark now finally looks and sounds his age. Think it's really time for him to retire, lol. Poor dh fell asleep early and I didn't have the heart to wake him.

Elibean · 01/01/2011 22:54

Get well soon, Solo, poor you - lots of flu hereabouts, some of it quite ferocious it seems. Horrid time of year for bugs Sad

Satin, hope dd better soon too. Family stuff, bleurgh, we had a great Xmas but soon after had a brief spell of family stuff (ie mum stuff) chez Elibean too...took me at least 3 days to recover. Hope you're faster!

2011! I can't quite believe it. Just watched the Morecambe and Wise film and had to remind myself which century I was in Blush

Have got some 2011 'goals' brewing...not resolutions, I don't do those...anyone else? Haven't quite formed mine yet, but will share when I do!

NewYearNewSolo · 02/01/2011 01:15

Thanks Elibean. I went to bed at 10:30, but can't sleep so here I am again...feel really rough.

I never make resolutions, but I am this year.

I'm going to continue to lose weight.
I'm going to get fitter.
I'm going to sort out the pit that is my home.
I'm going to find me a man.
A new one I trhought of today is that once my house is sorted I'm going to start making more craft stuff to try to sell to make some money.

jabberwocky · 02/01/2011 02:26

Hope you're feeling better soon, solo, and that all of you're resolutions come true :)

Having a fairly quiet evening here. I downloaded the create-your-own lego design program and ds1 is happily working out how to use it.

Dh and ds2 are in the playroom putting together lego tanks and so I have a blissful few moments to drink eggnog and MN Xmas Grin

NewYearNewSolo · 02/01/2011 02:47

Thanks jabber :) You are obviously not in the UK; where are you?
HNY btw :)

jabberwocky · 02/01/2011 03:02

I'm in the Southern US, solo.

Ds1 has said that the first place he wants to visit in Europe is London. I would love to meet all of you someday :)

And just realized I did my own pet peeve of "you're" instead of "your". Blush

NewYearNewSolo · 02/01/2011 16:40

Excellent! is that where your roots are from?

Wouldn't it be great to have a meet? I'd definitely be up for that! when are you plnning on visiting? Grin

jabberwocky · 02/01/2011 17:06

Yes, one of the true GRITS (Girls Raised in the South)

I don't know when we would make the trip but ds1 will be 8 next August so getting to the point where he would really enjoy something like that.

Obstacles are:

  1. dh HATES to fly
  2. don't know that I could handle both boys alone
  3. ds2 is liable to kick up a mighty fuss if left at home

But, I have a tendency to persevere through challenges in general Grin so it's definitely on my to-do list. I just have to work out the details.

Indith · 02/01/2011 17:40

Oh Jabber if you were visiting we would so have to have a big meet somewhere!

NewYearNewSolo · 02/01/2011 17:56

Definitely Indith!

accessorizequeen · 03/01/2011 08:31

Happy new year all, marking my spot so I can come back later when dcs have stopped squawking

SatinShoes · 03/01/2011 13:10

Hi everyone.
Nice to see some happy chat.
If anyone knows anything about chemo can you send me a message on fb. Not for me (dont worry) but could do with ome firsthand knowledge and dont want to post on the main boards. Thx.

Elibean · 03/01/2011 19:22

Sorry to hear that, Satin - no firsthand knowledge here (there is a Tamoxifen thread in General Health and the ladies there are v friendly and helpful, if thats relevent) but hope you get something useful.

Poor Solo! Any better today? Great resolutions, though rather a lot to tackle all in one go - some more fun than others Wink

Jabber, can we make coming over here (and unwittingly triggering a mass get together) your New Year resolution? Pretty Please? Grin

So far....I am going to let go of some of the ways in which I baby dd2 (taking her for a wee before I go to bed, eg): she is ready, and its me hanging on to my baby Blush. I am going to write more words per week (not on MN!). I am going to give dh more attention (see Solo's resolution, comes to the same thing Grin). I want to speak more French to the dds, 'cos I've slipped. I want to not take the blame for things that aren't my fault. I want to slow down and smell the roses. And I really should use less emoticons Xmas Smile

For starters.
