LaDiDaDi - I agree with Lee, it does sound difficult. Has he had bad holiday experiences then, or is it just the thought of going on holiday that worries him? We also had a lovely time in a cottage in Swanage and are going to a cottage in the cotswolds for a week too soon. Do you think going away in the UK would allow him to get into the mood for holidays and then you could tackle the flying bit?

I was going to post earlier, Imogen had woken up and I had put her toys in her cot with her for a little play in the morning as usual whilst I have a quickl e-mail and MN check when I heard a crash from her room. Ran in to find her standing up trying to reach out and grab things nearby (mainly the packet of wipes she is obsessed with!) and she had knocked some stuff on the floor!!!!! I put her back down and then was on the phone to my mum when she did it again - pulled herself up to standing and looked very pleased with herself - pulled a birdie off her mobile and then sat back down to play with it!!!! DH is away, but my dad is going to go round and lower the cot to it's lowest setting today before she works out how to fling herself right over the top to get to where she wants - she is such a cheeky monkey with it too grinning at her cleverness!!!!! I can't believe she is so strong and big - it was only just on 18th June she learnt to roll onto her front!

Clever girl Imogen! I was saying to dp the other night that we need to lower our cot although ds isn't showing any signs of pulling to stand yet.

The whole dp/holiday thing is just too long to post about right now. I will probably moan at length post about it a bit more in the next few days. He has been seeing a psychologist privately for the past 5ish months but I'm not sure if any progress has been made.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 27/07/2010 21:11

Hey All

Hope you get the holiday siuation sorted LaDiDaDI. That would be a real PITA.

OOh Hendo that is impressive! Anna loves to stand and will pull herslef up if you hold her hands, but she hasn't worked out yet that she can do it with other bits of furniture etc. Now DH is back we have decided that we MUST child proof the house as it is still so child-unfriendly!

Still haven't done all the washing ec from my mad week away last week and am having a busy week again this week, albeit mainly with visitors here rather than us going visiting. I think i will be running out of clothes soon

It is our wedding anniversary tomorrow...have a sneaking suspicion that DH has forgotten.......as he also did not bring me any pigging duty free, he will be seriously in the dog house tomorrow! :O

Oh and it seems i am teething in sympathy for anna. bloody wisdom tooth is coming through and my jaw is very sore. seeing dentist next week....

hendo77 · 27/07/2010 21:16

Ethelred - sounds like Anna won't be long, Imogen has thankfully only done it in her cotbed so far as I think she was trying to look at/get to something else, but she did look as if she might try on my parents sofa earlier today but didn't! She was managing to get onto her knees for a day or two first with both hands on the top of the rails. Hope your tooth gets better soon...

With all the stress of running round trying to clean the house and remember absolutely everything us, a 3 year old and a 7 month old are going to need for 2 weeks, I'm almost agreeing with your husband here LaDiDaDi!!

I'm sure within a fortnight of getting back I'll be planing the next holiday though

Do you think your DH would holiday in the UK? We're going to Center Parcs in December which I think I'm looking forward to even more than this holiday. Our closest one is only an hour and a half away and knowing it wouldn't be the end of the world if we had to pop back for something coupled with the fact that you can arrive/leave [retty much whatever time you like makes it a lot less streesful.

Got almost all the packing done today I think. Just some more tidying to do tomorrow (hate coming back to a messy house) Might even take the children out to the activities that are on in the park tomorrow if I've got time.

Catherine's getting more interested in moving recently, I thought she might even attempt crawling today. She's got sitting to knees almost sorted and loves standing if you hold her hands. She even stood holding onto the kichen draw handles yesterday!!

hendo77 · 28/07/2010 07:35

I with you on tidying the house before going away - I not that tidy usually, but I hate coming home to a messy house for some reason, even though it always means I'm up for hours the few nights before!

Well done Catherine on the standing - maybe she'll bypass crawling altogether - apparently I never crawled, just walked on my knees for ages and ages!!!!

Imogen sort of slept through last night - she woke at 3.30 so I went down and did the bottle, but by the time I came up it was quiet again so I left it and went back to bed. Half an hour later I heard her again, but by then the milk was cold so went down and warmed it only to come up again to find silence! I went back to bed and heard her chatting and playing about 20 minutes later, then next thing I know it's 7.20 am! Really hoping things continue to get better and better now, but also glad I held onto my ever optimistic outlook that it would just sort itself out over time!!!!

LaDiDaDi · 28/07/2010 08:05

Hope you are sorted out now Al, have a great holiday .

We wen to CP Sherwood last year after the cancelled Mallorca debacle. On arriving in our lodge he commented "wasn't that really stressful?" Er, no. We followed at sat nav (could have just followed the legion of people with bikes on the back of their cars) and didn't get lost, we drove up to a wooden shed abd I gave them our internet print outs and they gave us a key then we followed the signs to our lodge. Very, very minimal stress. Oh and he complained about being bored for the holiday.
Last night he said that he would tell me today what he thought we could do. Not holding my breath tbh.

Yay for Imogen hendo! I think you're right that almost everything sleepwise will sort itself out in the end. I'm holding onto that too!

hendo77 · 28/07/2010 08:35

I think with Imogen, it was definitely when she started crawling that her sleep improved, that and the fact she goes mad jumping around in her jumperoo - she is exhausted! Fingers crossed for you for the holiday thing...

AlCrowley · 28/07/2010 21:55

All sorted and packed. Off to bed now as we have to be up at 2.30 to get to the airport.

See you all in a fortnight

Lee - such a beautiful but sad poem for her dd to have read. I don't know what else to say but send you a virtual hug instead (I know that's not mn like though!).

Definitely agree about the tiny tyrant! There is no mistaking what she wants these days and she is very stubborn about it already.

Al - have a lovely, holiday and look forward to hearing all about it in two weeks when obviously the outsiders have beaten the bloods at all games!!!

OP posts:
AmazingBouncingFerret · 29/07/2010 07:40

at all these babies standing!
Elizabeth bum shuffles. She doesnt know she is doing it though! She has no strength in her legs to stand at all.

She does say mama and dada though and does twinkle star hand movements when she wants to be picked up.

I spent all day yesterday incognito. Name changing is fun!

LaDiDaDi · 29/07/2010 09:50

Oh Lee, that is a lovely poem. It must have been so hard for her daughter to read though.
Hope you have a lovely time in Wales and get some good days out.

The update to my holiday saga is that dp's psychologist has said that we need to do a build up to a holiday iyswim. So we are going on a dayt rip to Flamingo land and then an overnight stay in Edinburgh. After that he will see him again and we will see how we get on. I'm actually feeling really pleased about it, I feel at that dp is making a really big effort and I'm encouraged that we will get somewhere. I also know that he wouldn't be doing all of this if it wasn't for me and the kids so he must really know how much it means to me even if he doesn't say it directly.

hendo77 · 29/07/2010 13:06

That's fantastic LaDiDaDi, and I'm so glad you're feeling better about it all. I think Flamingo land and edinburgh sound like a lovely start!

ABF - I am so, so of the speaking though, in fact I might swap that for the standing if I had a choice... it would prevent lots of head banging as she let's go and falls down!!!!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 29/07/2010 16:49

Hi All

Lee, that poem is beautiful. It is the one my mum wants at her funeral . It is beautiful sentiment, just so very sad.

Well DH didn't do so badly yesterday. he had bought a lovely card with a great verse (usually i think the verses are often cheesy) but this time it made me cry ! And he bought me a big bouquet of flowers (from the supermarket, but hey, still good) and a big box of chocs (delicious, but no good for the fatness!) so not the most original presents of all time, but lovely nonetheless.

have had friends over today, who were delivering Anna's christening cake for sunday! It looks great! Just need to write out the name cards now and wrap a couple of pressies and then i think we are sorted.

LaDiDaDi that sounds like some progress on the holiday...fingers crossed for you! Flamingo Land is just near my mum's! it is my 'local' theme park!

Great news on the speaking ABF! Anna doesn't really say anything, she just blows raspberries and shrieks occasionally! She is almost crawling, sort of pulling herself along, but without her bum in the air!

my tooth is still p'ing me off. Not seeing dentist til next week, and it is not painful as such, more uncomfortable. Plus i can't open my mouth very wide, which for me, is a real problem! ha ha ha ha!

hendo77 · 30/07/2010 16:10

Ethelred - glad to hear your dh remembered your anniversary, it's always nice to get flowers (and of course chocolates)!

I have left Immy with my parents this afternoon so that I can properly clean the house as it is a right old state. It's just taken me an hour and half practically to clean our bathroom which is about tiny! Not sure how much more I will get done before they bring her back now. I am going to try and convince dh it will actually be cost effective to have a cleaner when I go back to work, although maybe if I do it more regularly than once ever couple of months weeks then it won't be so bad!!!!

OP posts:
hendo77 · 30/07/2010 16:11

... and obviously not stop to check MN that might help too!!!!

OP posts:
EthelredOnAGoodDay · 30/07/2010 21:06

ha ha ha! That's funny. I would love a cleaner too, our house has been a tip since Anna was born!

LifeOfKate · 30/07/2010 21:14

Hello again all!

I bumped into Lee on another thread and was persuaded back... I find it very hard to keep up with threads like this which is why I disappeared for a bit

Anyway, have tried to have a quick catch up of the thread, sorry to hear about your friend, Lee Congratulations to the new aunties! My SIL is pregnant, due in January, so Noah will get another cousin

I'll be back for a proper update after the weekend, we're going away tomorrow morning for a wedding and I need to go to bed soon so I can finish packing in the morning!

hendo77 · 30/07/2010 21:28

hi LifeOfKate - welcome back!

Well I managed to do bathroom, Imogen's bedroom and my front room in the end. Blimey my house was filthy. My parents are taking Imogen again in the morninig in the hope I can finish some other rooms before dh comes back and makes even more mess everywhere...

Imogen now has two teeth on the bottom and one on the top and has today learnt to click/grind them together which is horrible - does anyone else's little one do this? Will it stop...? please say it will...!

Hello everyone.

Haven't been on here for a while for various reasons. Came on as I'm looking for a lightweight travel friendly pushchair for ds2 & thought I'd have a catch up while I was here.

I'm going to be an auntie again on 9 Aug when my sister goes in for elcs. She's having a little boy this time round so I'll have a niece & nephew. We're back in the UK the week after so will get to see him while he's still tiny. Well I say tiny but as my niece was 9lbs & it looks like this one will be bigger he's not going to be tiny.

I keep talking about having a cleaner but don't get any further than talking about it.

ds2 has been poorly for about 2 weeks now & still isn't eating properly. I was up with him a few times last night but having had a bottle at 0130 he's still asleep now.

ds1 goes to my mums next Fri for a week. dh is flying over with him as I know I'd only cry when I left him if I did it & don't want to get him upset. Going to miss him loads. dh however is just disappointed ds2 wasn't going as well as he wants us to go on holiday without the boys. I don't want to go on holiday without my boys & the whole point of mum having ds1 for a week is so we don't have to use all our leave covering school hols. It's probably unreasonable that I'm so annoyed with dh but we're not getting on at the momentso I think everything seems magnified.

Hope everyone's ok & your not so little ones are doing well.

hendo77 · 02/08/2010 16:22

Hi Claire - lovely to hear from you, sorry to hear about the holiday traumas, but hopefully once you get away you'll have a lovely time and things will feel better between you and your dh too. Hope your ds2 feels better soon as well - is it teething related do you think, or just under the weather?

Lee - hope you're having a nice week, luckily the teeth grinding has been replaced with this week's new noise of clicking her tongue which is much better!

Hope everyone else is having nice holidays/weekends too!
