Embarrasing bowels issue

Hi,
I had my gorgeous baby nearly 4 weeks ago and he's lovely! The birth was long and it was a forceps and episiotomy in the end to get him out.
Is it norma to still have bowel problems. When i need to go, i really need to go. Sometimes i literally can't get up the stairs quick enough, especially when i'm carrying him in the bouncer. I also have bad wind.
I'm a delight!!

Anyone got any experience of this or should i just pluck up the courage to see the doctor?

Thanks

Congrats on the birth I had the same, bowel "urge incontinence", i.e. didn't feel the urge until it was almost too late. Could be some muscle or nerve damage resulting in your brain not getting the signal IYSWIM. Mine improved gradually, and seems fine now. Pelvic floor exercises should help tone up that whole area as well.

Hopefully others with similar experiences may be able to advise also, as I'm certainly not a medical professional.

see your gp, that does not sound right.

You must see your GP asap. I know of friends who have left it and just put up with it and it's completely knocked their self esteeem.
Obviously it's only been 4 weeks but even after episiotomy and ventouse delivery, by that time, I was back to normal. Gp may say want to wait a while and see how you heal (don't forget your internal muscle will take a lot longer than externally) but will refer you if he thinks you need it.
Only this morning, my episiotomy scar was aching cause I'm tired and my DS was born 5 yrs ago!! Scar tissue can take years to get back to normal and if it's your bowels, you must get it sorted.
