Q about NCT classes????

This is an academic question now as it's too late to book on the classes (due in 5 weeks) but I wondered if anyone had NOT done the NCT ante natal classes and found that it hindered them in terms of making 'mum' friends and fitting in to baby groups?? I am really worried that I will go to all the baby groups when DD arrives and everyone will know each other! Sounds really pathetic, I know, but where we live is relatively 'naice' and so the NCT classes are 'the norm' for most people and they NHS classes take place in a rough area that's a drive away for me - not at my local children's centre, which is less than 10 minutes' walk away, and which will be the venue for the breastfeeding clinic and other groups that I plan to go to. I am worried.... help!

I went to NCT classes but met the mum friends I hang out with most in local children's centres and baby massage class.

I don't actually see the NCT peeps anymore as just didn't really gel with them.

I've also met quite a few local mums through MN . So don't worry about it - just go to local children's centre/baby groups and get chatting to people once your LO is born, join the post-natal thread on MN and go to some meet ups. You'll be fine

Mum and baby groups, things like sing-and-sign or baby gym and definitely post-natal exercise classes, mum-and-baby swimming etc are all good ways to meet other mums.

Don't worry. The whole NCT reputation is well over blown!
