Ta da!

Hope this shakes a few of us out of where we're languishing these days .

Let this be the one-stop shop into everything that is the crazy, wonderful, sleep and sanity deprived world of bringing up baby

Hello!!! Yes I'm alive, and yes I thought I'd finally attempt to join back in (though be warned it will be very sporadic I'm afraid)! DH has taken the older 2 to watch the North West 200 motorbike race in the pouring rain (we're not particularly into motorbikes, though DH would love one, but all his cousins descend for it so it's an excuse for an annual meet up), and meanwhile Ffion is napping (probably due to wake any moment) and I miss you all so much I thought I'd kick my butt into gear and post.

So much has been happening to you all that I'm afraid my personals will miss most of it- wasabi so relieved for you that your Dad is doing so well, and you Mum too. What a few months you've had on that front. Hope your cold is now away too, and all is well in the peanut household and you can enjoy having your DH at home for a bit. rogue well done with the driving test! Lovely to hear how Aoife is developing, seems to have flown by since she was a wee newborn! It is such a wonderful time watching their personalities reveal themselves! Glad you managed to find a home for the stray too, it breaks my heart thinking about all the animals needing homes. We would take another dog on but I think our last experience has made us a little more cautious (we have one already, a right sop of a dog who is just perfect for our clan and so tolerant of the kids) as we found it hard integrating the dog with the girls as they are still only dog head height and there were issues of hierarchy etc. But in a couple of years we'd love to add to the madness! blue good on you with the veggie growing! And lovely to hear how Ben is well on his feet, it's such a great stage.

Well as you all probably gathered via Facebook etc. I am now unemployed completely, which is quite scary as I've always had something on the cards and now at the moment there isn't anything definite. Finding it very tough financially, to the point where I seem to be struggling just to pay for the basics and we've completely stalled all plans with the house, garden etc. I am hopeful our situation will change but it's hard :( Just to add insult to injury after passing it's MOT last Sat our car broke down on Tues and it looks like it's the fuel pump- big money. But hey, these things happen and it could be worse- at least we can just about hang on to our beautiful house and for that I'm very grateful as realise so many are so much worse off. So I welcome any budgeting tips! Have spent a while on MoneySavingExpert and think I've covered most things, trying to cook everything from scratch etc. and we too are growing lots of veggies this year, but it's fuel etc. that seems to take so much more out of our budget- the joy of living in the countryside too far to walk to school etc. and not on a bus route. Argh!

Anyhow the kids are all happy and keeping well, had a couple of more tricky months with DD1 as she grew a bug in her lungs that got a little comfy there, but we've managed to kick it now without a hospital admission thankfully. Ffion turned 18 months yesterday and she's the most joyous child- full of mischief and oodles of energy- running, climbing everything and amazingly can negotiate our stairs up and down so haven't used stair gates (we didn't want to use them as our only toilet is upstairs and the other two are up and down all the time...). She's such a happy funny little girl now, very independent, and lots of chatter now and lots of amusing phrases (the worst of which is "kick it" when in the chicken run to the chickens that peck her feet and "poo bum" when filling her nappy- great having an older brother eh.) Can't believe how quickly she seems to be growing up, but I am so grateful that I am getting to spend so much time with her at the moment, especially in the mornings when DD1 is at preschool and DS at school.

wasabi I am after tips for working in the evenings after bedtime. I used to manage this a couple of years ago but I am finding it almost impossible these days. Sadly even though it's not paid I really do need to write papers to give me the best chance of staying in academia (ish) and at the moment I have pretty much exhausted childminding favours from my lovely MIL so need to get back to it in the evenings. But I really find by 8pm when all DC are asleep I am good for nothing, and usually still have tidying up/laundry/packed lunches etc. to do. I try to keep on top of domestic stuff in the mornings but F needs quite a lot of amusing (and supervision- she's at that wonderful wrecking stage and is a master at disappearing into the garden!) so find I'm not getting as much done as I did even a few months ago. Is it possible to go backwards with managing a house/kids etc. even though I'm working less?!

DH and the kids have reappeared- apparently they only ran one race as the rain is so bad- so as the computer is in our living room and it's Horrible Histories time on CBBC I better shoot. F having mega sleep! Will pay for it at bedtime!

Really hope you are all ok and I will try to keep more in touch soon, promise. My time seems so short at the moment but I'm sure it'll get a bit easier in time . Don't get me wrong, having 3 DCs has worked really well for our family and it warms me to the core watching the 3 playing together (and when one falls out with another there's always someone else to play with- except when Ffion is in her grabbing all the toys mood...), but it does seem right now like A LOT of work. And I'm in a quandry about paid work. Not sure how i can realistically pursue the career I started part-time and not sure if I'm qualified for much else! Not sure how people cope with 4+!

Apolgies for rambling nature of this post, the art of conversation is a bit neglected here unless you are 6, 3 or 1.5 years old! Saying that spend a very pleasant afternoon yesterday with DD1's preschool on a forest outing- Ffion was the youngest member who they kindly allowed to join in :)

Love to you all and the DCs too of course xxxx

gonerogue · 22/05/2011 22:19

Hey Jumping lovely to have you back even if just for a while. I unfortunately have no tips re budgeting because my carefully planned budget for the unpaid maternity leave went completely awry after the washing machine, dishwasher, dryer and oven took turns to break down and need to be repaired/replaced. Ouch re the fuel pump - that's not good at all.

Glad to hear DD1 got over her bug too. Love F's little phrases - "kick it" might be one of Aoife's when she goes to visit her cousins. Grin

Still have horrible cold and looks like it's staying for the foreseeable. Hope DH doesn't get it before his exams on Tuesday.

I've had another stray foisted on me tonight Grin I did ask my sister did I look like an animal rescue. It's a little kitten that her dogs found at the end of her garden and as they weren't being too friendly she asked if I would take it. I am looking for a home -I really can't be taking in any more strays or waifs.

Rght am going to head off - have lots of plans to watch Mr. Obama on the TV tomorrow so will need to catch up on sleep and housework before then. Quite exciting as he will be visiting his ancestral home which is close enough to me.

Talk to you all soon

gonerogue · 22/05/2011 22:24

P.S. what are the Issy's grads' thoughts on pre walkers? Some of my mum and baby group are all recommending them and just said I'd see what you guys thought
TIA Ladies and take care

headfairy · 23/05/2011 11:40

Still haven't had time to catch up, but to answer Rogue's question... Francesca didn't wear any pre walkers as such, she had some of those http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+Baby-Booties-and-Pram-Shoes-Pink-Heart-Leather-Booties+B3454 leather baby shoes like these for when it was cold, but once she started walking I gave it about 6 weeks and then we bought her first pair of proper shoes. I'm too tight to buy pre-walkers :o Mind you, both of mine were walking by 9-10 months so there wasn't much time for them either!

Back soon, I promise!

bluesatinsash · 25/05/2011 15:24

Hi everyone,

Lovely to see Jumping popping back on Smile. In no particular order...

Rogue - I went straight from soft leather 'Robeez' padders to first walking shoes for both boys when they could do the 'walk-holding-on-with-one-hand' manoevere. My Podiatrist pal says bare feet are the best for helping them walk and didn't even do padders! Like Head I wouldn't waste money on crawling/cruising shoes, unless for aesthetic purposes of being v. cute Smile

Jumping - I know what you mean re: evening. My brain just shuts down (or rather goes into stand by mode) the minute I walk out of DSs bedrooms. To have to crank it up again to work would be v. hard but do-able if you made sure you had a strict work schedule and timetable (i.e. one hour Monday night, night off Friday etc.). Could you do some of the household stuff during the day when Ffion naps? As for budgeting tips, is there anything you can do to generate money? Antiques in the loft to e-bay? They will buy anything on there, even breast pumps! Buying in bulk helps for things you use time and time again. Do you have a COSTCO near you for kitchen roll (I go through 5 per week Shock), toilet roll, dishwasher tablets etc? Expensive at the time but cheaper in the long run...

Glad your DD1 avoided hospital and banished her bug Smile. Ffion sounds delightful and loving her phrases Smile. My B is a huge Thomas fan and recognises all the main ones. He says 'Gorgo' for Gordon and 'Jay' for James. He also knows all Isaac's Star Wars guys and can point to Yoda, Anakin and Obi Wan on request - the force is strong with my wee laddie..

wasabi - had to Grin at your description of sleepy old villages and the inhabitants therein who don't welcome you until you've been there a generation... I read too many Jilly Cooper books in my younger years and always loved the idea of these villages a mere hour away from Landan all making jam, riding horses and having affairs all over the place Grin.

Head - what's new with you?

Bella - hope your managing some life in the work/life balance! This age is a magical time. My B is sooo affectionate and cuddles and kisses me (although opened mouth so I have to keep mine tight shut, baby drool is not nice..). He is forever around my legs which can be annoying when I'm trying to prepare dinner but lovely too as he just wants to hang out with his Mum.

So there I was this morning sitting in the Doctors waiting room waiting to see my Asthma Nurse, flicking through an old copy of Grazia and lo, there was an article by none other than Sunnydale who, check this, is a Fashion Editor in London Shock. What a talented thread this is, writers, lawyers, TV producers, IT gurus and me a mere HR Project Manager...

Also had the dentist this morning, Hygienist was off so Dentist gave me my scale and polish and my gawd what a good job he has made of them Grin. I jokingly said its my 40th and I want them dazzling and he took a good 10 mins polishing and let me hold a mirror up to see what he was doing. The only downside is my love of red wine, I fear the dazzlingness may be dimmed after this weekend. If only he could polish my jelly belly away...

So yes, big 4-0 on Sunday. Lots of lovely things planned, dinner in Edinburgh with DH and close friends on Sat. night, lunch with family on Sunday, Glasgow shopping trip on Monday (by myself - bliss!) and girls night out at Tapas the following Saturday. Have succumbed and requested an I-phone for my b'day... Just fancied having an up to date phone for a change and my current one is held together with sellotape. Any app suggestions?

Right, better get back to admiring my shiny teeth work.

See you in my next decade x

Hello Ladies... I'm back!! dh is watching the Champions league final in the playroom and I'm sprawled on the sofa enjoying having the remote control for myself for a change!

Just done a big catch up... personals first.

wasabi How's your dad doing? I hope he's feeling ok and not too rough. Fingers crossed everything stays aok for him. I can totally see why he opted not to go for the chemo. With those odds and if he's feeling healthy then it must be a more sensible option to hold off on the chemo for now.

Ooooh dh has just screamed goal so I guess Barca are ahead :o

Congrats to your dh on his new job, lovely to have him around much more. It's so nice that he can help with bathtime. My dh has bought a scooter for his work commute which means he's home just as the dcs are getting in the bath and it is really lovely. We have a great routine, dh puts Francesca to bed and I do Luca. It means we can have them both asleep by 7.30 which is bloody marvellous.

Blue Glad you enjoyed the wedding :o I did work on it, I cut for the news bulletins so if you watched the coverage on BBC1 you wouldnt' have seen any of my work, but if you watched the news bulletins afterwards you would have :o I'm suspecting almost no one watched the news that day, after 6 hours of wedding coverage why would you watch the news and watch a bit more? :o I was pretty much wedding'd out by the end of it.. I was in work for 8am and got to see the whole lot I wish I was a producer... sadly I'm a lowly editor. Not the kind that runs around shouting at everyone that "we're on air in ten minutes people, lets pick it up" (no one does that outside of American tv dramas actually :o) I'm the type that sits in a dark edit suite and physically edits all the pictures together. Used to be on good old fashioned film, then tape, now it's all computers and digital media.

Yay for Ben's new shoes and his super walking skills! Way to go! I'm too broody too, I'm ovulating today and it would be too easy, but dh really really doesn't want another. I think he'd leave me. Like Wasabi I think I'm 40, have two beautiful healthy children, let's not get greedy!

I'm completely clueless on Scottish politics. Alex Salmond slightly scares me, if I were Scottish I think independence would be the wrong thing, breaking up the Union would be ruinous for so many.

Oh and don't think I've forgotten..... :o A big Happy Birthday high five for tomorrow. Congratulations on joining the cool decade to be in :o Seriously turning 40 is a doddle. I clearly remember my sister and her friend both telling me that it's finally the time you take no shit from anyone, finally the time you look great and know it, finally the time when you take no prisoners and actually say and do what you want! I bloody love being 40 :o I hope you have a lovely day and get spoiled rotten. Just don't think about 50 :o:o:o I hope you enjoy your iPhone, I've resisted, but I do have an android phone. You've got to get Angry Birds and Shazam. I can basically fill my day with both :o dh has promised me an iPad for my birthday... he's got a mate in the States who can get one for $500 as opposed to the £500 they are over here (works out to be about £375 I think) I hope he doesn't expect me to buy him such a nice present... I'm still trying to pay back my overdraft from maternity leave.

I hope your teeth are still nice and shiney. I'm shockingly bad at going to the dentist, I really want to get mine whitened, but would a trip to the dentist for a polish really make that much difference? I'm ashamed to say I haven't been to a dentist for years and years, but I am religious at brushing and flossing so they're in pretty good nick. But they are quite yellow They've always been a bit like that so I think that's the natural colour of my teeth, but I was hoping whitening would help, but maybe a polish would be worth trying first.

rogue wooo hooo, congratulations on passing the driving test. And wooo hooo to Aoife on crawling and getting a new tooth in the same week! Clever girl. It's so nice when they get a bit of independence and you don't have to carry them everywhere. Her timing's perfect too, just in time for summer. Winter is no time to be learning to crawl, you can never go outside, because of course they want to be on the ground showing off their new skills, but because it's wet/snowy/muddy you can't. Very frustrating for the little darlings, and boy do they let you know it!

Glad to hear Aoife settled back in to her napping routine, I'm very jealous. Francesca took 8 weeks to get over her sleep regression at that age. Damn near killed me, she woke every hour

Glad to hear you managed to rehome the stray. The photos on FB were mega cute, if I didn't involve a trip across the water I would have been tempted to take him! :o

I hope you're not dreading the return to work too much. I know when I was on mat leave the date when I went back loomed on the horizon for so long, I hated it. When it came to it though I really enjoyed getting out of the house, wearing clothes for a whole day without getting food all over them, eating a meal uninterrupted... if you can get the balance right between having time with your scrumptious baby and being a human being with unsoiled clothes I think it's perfect!

Jumping so lovely to see you back on here... so sorry to hear about your lack of work and subsequent financial worries. It's so hard, petrol is bonkers now, we're paying over £1.43 for diesel around here. It's £80 to fill our car I've had to stop driving all together, apart from short trips to the park... it's a shame because for the first time I've actually got a parking space at work, and because no one can afford to drive the roads are really quiet so I can get to work in 50 mins. Gives me an extra 45 mins at home with the kids in the mornings. I wish I had some top money saving ideas.. I'm not brilliant with it though, I can't seem to get our food bill below £100 a week at the moment. I'm doing packed lunches at work, when we're out with the dcs, anything to avoid spending too much but still allowing us to actually leave the house!

I hope things improve soon. F sounds and absolute delight. I know what you mean about that independence thing... is it just girls? I'm sure Luca wasn't that independent. It's lovely that they all play together, I must admit when my two manage it, it does give me a rosy glow. Not many moments of parenting smugness, but that's one of them.

I hope you're able to come back soon and that in the meantime you can find some solution to your work situation. I don't know how anyone manages to work in the evening... I mean, I work until 10.30pm three times a week, but I'm at the office so I don't have to juggle that with sorting piles of laundry and emptying the dishwasher!

Last (but not least of course :o) Bella So lovely to hear that Georgie is chatting, if not in the right language :o Francesca is adding new words every day.. her latest is sorry, but said in a really sarcastic voice. She sounds like a teenager :o soooorreeeeeee! Another one she just started saying today is cuddle which comes out as cuggle. Very cute :o

I know what you mean about leaving for work in the morning. Francesca stands at the door waving and say byeee in such a cute way it's hard to leave her. I love how G dances too... so sweeet. We should get them together in baby disco. Francesca had a bonkers danceathon the other day... she just bopped around the kitchen. I'd never seen her do it, and I've never seen her do it since. Kerrrazy!

Did you manage to replace your iphone? How horrible you had to miss your holiday... but so nice to spend some time alone with George. How's his hair growing by the way? Francesca's hair is way off a cut, but I suppose girls can get away with it being longer. I did tackle her fringe a few weeks ago as it was getting in her eyes. Big mistake. She wriggled so much I cut it waaay too short and it looked ridiculous. Luckily it's growing so fast, she's finally starting to look normal :o

Blimey, while I've been writing this Barca have won the champions league.. the Titanic has sunk and I've had two cups of tea and a Dime bar :o

Not really any time for me to tell you what's been going on here... actually there's been sod all going on :o Our lovely Polish nanny Karolina is settling in well. Luca and Francesca both love her, and her little girl who's 2 weeks older than Francesca is a real sweetie so it's lovely for Francesca to have someone to play with. Luca's preschool sessions move to 5 mornings a week from September so it's going to be great that Francesca has someone to play with while he's at school.

Bugger all else going on really, just ploddding along as usual :o I'll have to get me a social life so I'll actually have something to post about :o

Righty, I've really got to go, I have an pressing engagement with my bed. Dh is now tweeting away and if I'm lucky I can get the better half of the duvet and the remote control before he gets there :o

Night night ladies, take care xx

headfairy · 28/05/2011 22:05

Bejesus, look at the size of that post :o:o:o

gonerogue · 29/05/2011 20:11

Hello ladies -

head that was a marathon post - but lovely to see you back again.

Blue already said on FB but Happy Birthday.

I too have had a birthday - mine was on Friday. I turned 31. I have had a brilliant weekend - Thursday I went shopping and bought two new dresses, Friday just chilled out - strangely I gave DH a lie in, but he had just finished his exams on Thursday so he deserved it.

Yesterday was the big one - DH and I dropped Aoife off at her Godmother's, (my sister) and we went to see the Kings of Leon playing at Slane Castle. Grin I had a great day - it was nuts there were so many people there and it was jammed but the rain held off for the most of it and we got to listen to Thin Lizzy and Elbow as well so was cool.

We got back to my sister's around midnight and Aoife had been brilliant for her. She did say she hadn't realised babies were such hard work but is willing to have her back again.

Then today we just chilled out and went for dinner in local restaurant. Now it's all over and I am going to sleep for Ireland. :-)

head re going back to work -thy've asked me to phase it in because otherwise I'll be going back right in time for year end and my manager is leaving / will have left by the time I go back so won't be time to do a handover as they've "streamlined" all of the processes.

Aoife is going to my sisters and I've told them I'll do a half day - but to be honest I am ready for a bit more than just maternity leave. I really don't think I'm cut out to be a SAHM - I'm far too lazy. Grin

ON the stray front - my sister found a kitten - well her dogs did so Iwas called to rehome it before her dogs ate it. Have the little dote beside me here purring like a tractor - but think I've found a home for her thank God - DH was all on for keeping her - me not so much.

Anyway no other news I will let you know how my first day back goes and I'llt alk to you all soon

headfairy · 29/05/2011 20:31

rogue that sounds like a much nicer way to get yourself back in to work. I'm so with you on the whole not being cut out to be a sahm... I'm the same. I love my days off but on a Wednesday evening I'm really looking forward to a couple of days at work.

Glad you managed to rehome the kitten... It's such a good thing I don't live near you, I'd have about 2 dozen waifs and strays by now :o

headfairy · 29/05/2011 20:32

Argh, dh totally distracted me with a cheese sandwich there... Happy happy birthday to you too :o:o You youngster though, don't stand too close to me with your 30 something wrinkle free skin and fresh face :o

bluesatinsash · 01/06/2011 13:49

Belated Happy 31st Birthday to Rogue you kept that quiet, didn't even get a ping on FB about it Grin. Yes agree with Head keep yer shiny skin away from me (tho' my teeth could give you a run for your money Grin). Glad you had a lovely weekend and fellow Gemini Smile. Have you had your dry run at work yet? How many days are you going back? Agree with Head re: part-time working giving you the best life/work balance. Never underestimate how good making a cuppa in peace is..

Head - I read your mammoth post on my new I-phone but have read it again at work as the tiny screen didn't do it justice Grin. Lovely to hear from you and I did watch the news that day. I watched it ALL much to my DH's Hmm. Your Polish Nanny sounds lovely and Smile she has a DD to play with Francesca. She'll be multi-lingual with all her family influences, Spanish, Italian, Cockney Wink, Polish...

Well forty feels OK so far Smile. DH really pulled out the stops at the weekend and did me proud, I have two years to sort something out for his big 4-0 so need to get thinking... The boys got me a beautiful personalised necklace from 'Lily Belle' via notonthehighstreet.com. It has three charms, one with each boys initials and one with angel wings ("to look over those you love"). My favourite present, brought a wee lump to my throat..

Had a successful shopping trip in Glasgow which flouted the normal have money = don't see anything you like rule of sod Grin. Got this navy dress from Thw White Company for my night out on Sat. Shops were full of maxi dresses but I fancied something plain and chic that I could wear again and again. Also got lovely flip flops, picture frames, bikini, candles, gorgeous pyjamas for B, cool case for my i-phone..

Anyway, better shoot the craw..

Waves to wasabi, Bella and Jumping

Hee hee I don't tell FB my birthday Grin I'm not that pushed about birthdays anyway.

Blue I did give you a mental high five when you said it was your birthday on Sunday for being a fellow gemini. Grin

Head if you want a waif or stray kitten she's still here. I'm sure I could scrape together airfare and bring her over to you Grin

I went to work yesterday and it was grand - went in at ten left at three- it was deadly if only I could do that all the time. I'm going back full time - but I will be working 2 days a week at home so it's not going to be such a long week for Aoife in creche as I'll be able to drop off later and pick up earlier on those two days.

I did realise what an unholy mess I am going back to - my manager is leaving - he has authorised one of the other guys to be off for two weeks right at year end. The other guys is leaving and my manager's manager is also going on holidays for two weeks at year end. So I'll be there dealing with auditors' questions on my own when I'll have been back two weeka and I'll have as much clue as they (the auditors) do. Angry
But I'll be fine and will get through it all.

IN other news I am on a diet / healthy eating plan. I have lost 10 pounds so far - in about a month. Grin I am aiming to lose another stone and a half and then I'll get pregnant again be happy Grin

Right better go and talk to DH - although he is engrossed in Stargate or some such rubbish quality TV. Take care and I'l talk to you soon.

gonerogue · 01/06/2011 21:12

Ooh and Blue so Envy of your shopping trip - sounds like it was both fruitful and enjoyable. I also hate that rule - but went browsing once when I had just been paid not looking for anything in particular and ended up with a whole new wardrobe (practically) That was a good day

headfairy · 03/06/2011 19:03

blue that dress is lovely... and your present from the boys sounds absolutely gorgeous

I'm glad to hear 40 has been kind to you so far... long may it continue.. I've got 41 coming up argh!!!

rogue don't tempt me with kittens, I am immune to their fluffy fur and big blue eyes dh would so have another one. Strange because he's dead set against another baby :o And our cat sometimes competes with Francesca for keeping me up at night. He's a bit of a teenager now and swaggers in at three in the morning raiding the fridge for munchies, flicks on MTV and stays up all night on the internet :o

Well done on losing all that weight, that's fantastic. How are you doing it? I've joined my fitness pal and I've lost 10lbs too, stalled last week so I'm trying to be ultra good this week.

Have you seen, someone's linked to an article our friend wrote. Won't name her to protect her anonymity :o

Lovely sunny weekend predicted down here, I hope you've got the same, enjoy everyone. xx

headfairy · 03/06/2011 19:07

Oh and rogue would be fab to keep those working hours, that's my ultimate fantasy! Glad the first day back was ok, but OMG at your boss leaving such a mess for you to clear up!

(sorry for fractured character of my postings... a bit like my mind, all over the place :o)

gonerogue · 05/06/2011 11:26

Hello again ladies

Head you are safe from the kitten she has now foundh er forever home. Grin

Blue I also meant to say the dress was fab - you know when you have something in your head and you think you've said it but then you don't - or maybe it's just me.

Had a lovely night out with my college gang on Friday - just went for drinks as one of the girls is 30 - I am the oldest in my group of friends.
Wasn't too late but Aoife was sleeping over with her cousins and so we had a childfree night - and a lie in until half past nine. I would lie in all day if I could - I had to force myself up at that hour Grin

SO in other news - remember I said we were TTC - well 2 months in I got a BFP - Grin Grin Grin Considering how long it took before Aoife got here and the hiccup on th e way I was prepared for a long wait.

We only just found out and obviously am not telling anyone else for ages yet but you are my laydeez Grin and if I can't tell you lot who can I tell. DH is grinning like a cheshire cat and Aoife obviously couldn't give a hoot. Grin
Anyway here's hoping it goes well and I'll keep you all updated on my progress - focusing on positives now and not worrying (lalalalalalalala nothing can go wrong)

headfairy · 06/06/2011 18:26

OMG OMG OMG!!! Congratulations :o:o How lovely for you. I want details please, how long gone are you, what's your due date? Or are you trying not to think of things like that? I know when I finally got pg with Francesca I didn't even think of being pg for so long I actually forgot a couple of times and tucked in to the wine... had to stop myself Blush

That's really lovely news rogue and as I'm only a teensy bit jealous because I'm not allowed to have any more I'm going to have to vent all my broodiness on you :o :o

gonerogue · 06/06/2011 19:08

[Grin} @ Head - thank you so much.

I am only just I was due AF on Friday but was out drinking carousing with my friends and not paying a blind bit of attention to my menstrual cycle or lack of. (Disclaimer only had one drink as was driving) and then realised on Saturday morning that I was potentially late. No symptoms so said ah it's just my usual once a year screwed up cycl.

Then Sunday morning got up and felt quite nauseous (sp) so we decided to get a test.

Off DH went to the chemist and came back with a CB Digital and I went to POAS as you do. I wasn't expecting to be and just said to DH while we were waiting "I'm probably not pregnant..." and he said "Well according to this you are" {grin]. It said 2 - 3 weeks which is about right.

God how sad that I can write a whole post about that Blush

I am due on the 10th of February when Aoife will be just shy of 18 months old but it'll be grand. I have started the whole nausea thing I got last time too so can't wait for the next 10 weeks to pass - an end to nausea and hopefully will have had scan and reassurance by then. Grin

Right having bored you seneless I'll go and start the search for something appetising. Grin

oooh no, you haven't bored me at all. That's lovely news. And pretty good timing I reckon. You have the baby in Feb, you go through the hellish first couple of months (sorry to remind you of this :o) and hey presto, you emerge blinking in to spring! Yay to lying in the sunshine with babba while Aoife runs around the garden playing :o I'm getting all nostalgic now about last summer... I won't bore you with horror stories of having a newborn and a toddler, I was exagerrating, it's really easy, honest :o:o

sorry about nausea though, miserable. But... all good from a hormone point of view. There must be lots of them rushing around you :) That A Good Thing!

Take it easy, put your feet up, have another biscuit :o

Hey All and CONGRATULATIONS TO ROGUE [GRIN] [SMILE] [GRIN]. Hope you have an uneventful and extended blooming phase pregnancy and it will be February before we know it Smile. Can't believe you waited until you were late! That is so...normal and un-ttc like - high five girl Grin

Man, you've made me all nostalgic for POAS... Not helped by friend who had a gorg. baby girl yesterday...

....ooh, you lost me there in newborn baby day dreaming Envy

No more stray animals OK? Your house is going to be full enough soon!

How do you think your work will react Hmm?

Have another couple of Grin Grin xx

Head - can I join you on the broodybench? Another good friend of mine is 18 weeks pg with her third and has managed to keep it quiet Shock.

I read the thread with the link to our esteemed fellow graduate Grin. Like how she mentioned the miscarriage support in the interview.

not much news here, totally knackered.com today as Benj decided to wake at 5am and there was NO getting him back to sleep

My PFB Isaac was five on Monday and is drowning in Star Wars t-shirts and all things LEGO. The day he was born was the best day of my life and I tell him that now and again (matched but not surpassed by his brother's birth Smile). I told him again on Sunday night and he went red (bless!) and said he loved me and I was a lovely Mummy Smile. Gotta savour those moments xx

On the Majorca countdown, 4 weeks and counting. Had to return by size 12 bikini bottoms for size 14 - damn it! But felt fab in my WC dress (size small!!) on Sat. night... sizing schmizing.

wasabi did you get your phone back? I'm loving my new i-phone Got a snazzy turqoise case for it and everything Grin

Thanks Blue Smile I didn't really realise I was late you see- too much other stuff going on - and as it was the second month of TTC I don't think I had reached the obsessively checking for symptoms phase I had reached with Aoife. Grin

I saw the Luke cake on FB - brilliant. You must have melted when he said he loved you - I can't wait for that I am Envy of your holidays - no holidays abroad for me this year due to ML and then the prospect of more now. Plus MIL had invited us to Colorado skiing in Feb - not ure that will be happening Grin

Oh and sizing is rubbish - I go from a ten to a 14 so it's all about eth shop you go to etc.

Re work, well it seems to be the norm in htere to go off, have a baby, come back for 9 month sot a year and then back out again. I'm just following in my colleagues foot steps. TBH I'm not really bothered what they think as they have been treating their staff like rubbish for so long now I don't think anyone in there has any loyalty left for them .

Right Aoife is banging something or other against the radiator so better go and investigate.

Talk toyou later.

Ladies I had my first "mad pregnant woman" moment today - and I'm only just 6 weeks eek.

Went into the bank to get my debit card replaced. There was a queue but I figured it would be ok to wait. Anyway took about ten mins but go to the top of the queue. I said to the woman at the lack of customere service desk that I needed to replace my debit card. SHe asked for ID and I had left it in my other bag. Then she said well I can't replace it without ID. However you can ring the replacement card line and they will send you out one.

I had a mini meltdown then ladies - I have been in that branch for 15 years and have had a few issues with them this year so I nearly cried and told her I had had it up to here with their customer service and I was changing my accounts asap. I didi say to her it wasn't her fault as she was lovely but I just flipped. I can only blame pregnancy hormones - I've nevr been that close to tears in a bank before. Grin

Anyway can't tell many people about it because htey would just think I was a loon and can't give them a reason (yet) for the looniness.

Hope everyone is ok and I'll talk to you all soon - back to work for me next Thursday - not looking forward to it but I am in another way. Weird kind of feeling.

Just popping on v v briefly - CONGRATS Rogue!! GrinGrinGrin Fab news. Keeping everything crossed all goes well, know how hard the early weeks are until you can get the reassurance of a scan post 12 weeks. And completely understand you losing it with the bank- I had a similar episode with ours and I'm not even pregnant!! Good luck with the return to work next week- you feel the same way I did/do!

Anyhow, will try to catch up more soon. Have a job interview on Tuesday so doing a wee bit of prepping while MIL childminds as it's in a very different area (i.e. not research or lecturing) and fear I'm a bit out of my depth/comfort zone. It's a one-day-a-week part-time thing that I reckon I could juggle without paying too much for childcare or upsetting our routines etc. Have serious brain drain though and massive doubts about ability to work after a few months of not! Hey ho.
Have a great weekend all, much love to the littlies and not-so-littlies xxxxxxx

gonerogue · 17/06/2011 20:49

Oooh Jumping that's great news - I hope all goes well for you and you know you'll be fine. I think people always underestimate themselves you are great and you will be grand.

OK so not much here to report - my symptoms are all still here and I am going to go to the doc next week while Aoife is practising in creche.
She was in there for half an hour with me the other day and she loved it. I may as well have left her straight away she was into the toys and varely looked at me for the entire time. Grin Im glad as it means she will settle there fairly quickly.

DH is off for the next two weeks so it's going to be great - he's going to get the garden sorted out, finally.

Anyway hope everyone is ok - Bella hop eyou aren't too much of a work fug.

Blue, Head, wasabi hope you are all ok and I'll talk to you all later Hope you have lovely weekends.
