Ta da!

Hope this shakes a few of us out of where we're languishing these days .

Let this be the one-stop shop into everything that is the crazy, wonderful, sleep and sanity deprived world of bringing up baby

headfairy · 22/01/2011 20:10

hahaha Bella don't worry I'm not pg... I'm so loaded with symptoms I can't possibly be :o

Barnes eh? I used to live in Battersea and still drive through Barnes every night on my way home from work (I go over Hammersmith Bridge, down Castlenau, Rocks Lane, past Barnes bridge station, up Roehampton Road and on to the A3 - this is really interesting for everyone else :o)

Anyway, Barnes is dead easy for me to get to, during the day I reckon I can do it in under an hour! Defo up for a meet up :)

So glad G loves his nanny. Our (sadly departed) nanny takes lots of photos on her iphone and emails them to me. Luca used to go to a childminder before Francesca was born and she used to take loads of pictures and do a daily diary thing of everything they've done, which our nanny then carried on. It's so nice reading all about his day when I come home from work, it's something I really look forward to.

Anyway, I've got some ebaying to do... I've promised to sell lots of my mum's stuff for a little percentage, and she's got so much stuff I'm spending hours on ebay.

TTFN :)

gonerogue · 23/01/2011 18:49

Meet up! Meet Up! Meet Up! Grin I am dying to meet you all and introduce the little woman to you as well.
Give me a date and I'll book our flights - not the 5th of Feb, or the 26th Feb - 6th March, or most of May but anytime other than that. (Can you tell that I'd love to meet you all up [grin})

Bella how cool that lil G is one - I'd say that time flew. Glad to hear you got through the first week back ok. ANd yay for your nanny - that's such a good way to be. Love the idea of a photo a day I used to do that for DH now he gets one every now and then to add to the surprise. Hope the jogging goes well. I was meant to go t my first Zumba class this week but was so ill with my cold figured it would be best not to. Next week for definite though.

Blue Aoife will be wearing a cute little dress I bought for her and a shawl that my Mam has knitted for us. No family shawl here- think it may have got misplaced at some stage along the way between children and GC.
Very impressed with your spin- I did it for about 4 weeks and then gave up - hated it altogether. Great that B has settled into nursery - DH and I are going to have a look around some, for when I go back to work, in the next few weeks.
How did your Friday night wine night go?

Head loved the pic of Luca on FB. It was so cute. How's the ebaying going? I used to do loads of ebaying now am too tired and CBA.
Hope the nanny hunt is going well and that you are rnjoying the time with your little lovelies.

No major news here - Aoife had a cold/sore throat and for 3 nights wouldn't go to sleep for more than an hour unless it was on my chest. Thankfully has gotten over that now and is back to my wonderful child. Grin

My bedroom is finished - it's now grey, teal and purple. Trust me it's fabulous and my hallway has had a layer of undercoat on it. Painting the first proper layer tonight and the second tomorrow night when DH gets home from woek as hopefully the carpet will arrive this week.

Christening is a week on Saturday - all outfits bought - except DH' shirt and tie - have to get all the rooms shipshape. Due to people staying in my house all rooms will be used so will have nowhere to throw the mess and will have to make sure everything is put away properly thrown in the attic Grin

OK so give me a date, any date and I will be there with bells on. (just laughing here at DH who got Gran Turismo for Christmas and is getting really annoye dwith the car as it won't do what he want s- he's my oldest child [grin})

Mind yourselves ladies

P.S. Blue I know Aoie will turn into a toddler from hell, or a tween from hell, or a teenager from hell - I'll let you when it happens

Happy Birthday George and Clara - you've gotten so big so quickly Grin

Also just to say can't do meet up on 11th of March either - It must seem like I'm such a social butterfly but it's just because there are weddings and hen parties and all the related stuff going on.

TTYL.

wasabipeanut · 30/01/2011 17:08

Oh my goodness me I cannot believe that I haven?t posted for over a month! Blush I am a bad, BAD, correspondent. Thank you for noticing I was missing and hoping it was for good reasons not bad. The truth is I?ve had ridiculous amounts of work on ? I?ve had several assignments running at once. The juggling of that, the children and running the house has meant that when I?ve had an occasional hour to myself of an evening I haven?t been able to face spending it in front of a laptop. I keep thinking about you all and wondering how you all are but sometimes I just need to stop.

My problem is that, like Blue I also have the ?work first, play later? ethic but the trouble with that is that there is always something that needs doing and I don?t have a lunch hour at work to do a bit of MNing like I used to. Anyway, I?m here now! Clara is snoozing off a monster Sunday lunch and Freddie is ?helping? DH wash the car. I have another 20 minutes until the promised ?Come Outside? and a cup of hot choc.

Everything is peachy chez Peanut. Thank you so much for Clara?s birthday wishes. I?m so sorry for not posting reciprocal wishes for Frankie and George ? I thought of them both. Clara really enjoyed her 1st birthday (as did her Mummy and Daddy). We just had my Mum & Dad over for a bit of birthday tea and some cake but it was lovely. We basically pretended her birthday was Sunday rather than Monday so DH could enjoy it too. I did get a bit emotional. My baby is fast disappearing. She has been up on her feet for ages now ? started crawling and pulling up at more or less the same time. She still isn?t quite walking yet but cruises aplenty. I had forgotten the utter chaos that mobile babies cause. Drawers have had to be rearranged and the stair gates dug out!

Freddie is also cool ? he goes to nursery an extra morning a week now we get the early years funding but so far that time has been neatly filled by work. Naturally. He had his first really meaningful Christmas this year where he knew what was going on. I really went to town on the whole Father Christmas thing ? even made snowy footprints by the playroom fireplace where all the stockings were! He loved it ? we all did. DH had loads of time off for once and we could just spend some time together.

To add to the mix we?ve been having some more work done on the house ? we now have a very shiny and lovely new ensuite bathroom. It took bloody ages ? 3 weeks ? as there were (as is always the case with this house) complications. It looks great now but it was a right faff with loads of dust being trampled everywhere. Phase 2 is the big family bathroom but we need a few weeks to recover from the disruption and financial pain. We were planning on doing the family bathroom first but we had to reconsider when the shower started leaking through the kitchen ceiling. The only drawback is that it now really highlights how incredibly tatty our bedroom is so we really have to decorate that soonish.

It?s a shortish week for us as we?re off DH?s parents on Wednesday and then a wedding on Thursday. We?re staying at a very plush hotel child free and going for a leisurely lunch on the Friday to boot. Yippee! I can?t wait ? I so need a bit of child free partying. It?s the run up to my birthday which is why DH has pushed the boat out a bit. On Friday week I will be 38. Cue rather a lot of ?third child? discussions. I?ll let you know how they go. Suffice to say DH is at least now thinking about it, as opposed to his previous ?I always wanted 2 children? stance.

Right, gotta run as the by wants to come in. I don?t blame him it?s brass monkeys outside and he?s been sloshing water everywhere. I will be back for personals later!
Love you all and have missed you oodles,
Wasabi xx

wasabipeanut · 30/01/2011 20:56

Wow, just had a good catch up. First up I have to say Jumping I will miss you so much. I do understand why you have to give it a break and really respect your reasoning. When I saw your FB post I did rather wonder if this may be the result. I know how hard it is to find time to MN when you are at home with the DC?s even if you have a reliable web connection. You have the most beautiful family and your home sounds lovely. I have this vision of you all in this bucolic paradise. It will still be bloody hard work but even with that and the financial sacrifices that might need to be made, it sounds like your heart really wants to be at home right now. You?ve been a source of advice, support and inspiration to me over the past couple of years and I wish you, Mr Jumping and all the baby Jumping?s the absolute best. I too will hope for the occasional check in from you either here or on FB.

Blue You know sitting out January in a huff sounds like a really great idea Wink I am so glad little B has settled into his nursery after that little hiccup at the beginning. I am thinking about when to start Clara (am currently thinking about September this year when Freddie (hopefully) starts at the local pre school. I?m afraid where Clara is concerned I am the clingy one. The ?my first day at nursery? was a lovely thing for them to do ? sounds a fab nursery. It?s great when they share those pics with you. I saw a lovely one of F after he?d been playing with shaving foam. He is holding his hands up to the camera and they are covered in foam but the perspective makes it look like he has those big, comedy foam hands on. He does of course have a huge grin on his face.

Glad the Xmas dinner went well. There is something about providing a festive spread that makes you feel like the proverbial domestic goddess. That, and a well stocked airing cupboard. I really need to get out more. Your gym regime sounds really impressive. You go sister. I have lost the weight now but bloody hell do I need some toning. Praise the Lord for Spanx but frankly they can only do so much. When your thighs feel like water at your spin class just think how great you?ll feel buying a minxy bikini or three! Btw, what is your source of cute and reasonably priced summer clothes for the boys?

Bella Wow it?s all been a lively start for the year for you. I hadn?t actually realised G and C had the same birth date. I?m sure you all had a lovely day and the little fella had a great time. I hope your first couple of weeks back at the grindstone have been ok. Your nanny sounds like she settled in well (inadequatly mixed pasta and sauce notwithstanding)and the little G man sounds happy with the arrangement. In time you will probably come to enjoy at least some of the benefits of working outside the home ? some cash and a lunch break being the two that spring immediately to mind. People often cite ?sensible conversation? as a benefit but frankly that was short on the ground at my office when I went back. People in IT really do talk a lot of bollocks.

Congrats on the 7-7 milestone! C is doing ok at the moment ? it tends to go 7-6, then have a quick bottle and back to sleep until about 8. I?m sure it will all go tits up again in a week or two. She?s teething at the moment I think ? at least I assume that?s what?s causing the torrents of dribble, red cheeks and snotty nose. Fred got his first two at about 13 months so it looks like she is on a similar schedule.

Rogue Am really happy for you that your dad is recovering. Not sure what to say about the detective gene possibility. I guess you can?t do much other than stay positive and see what the tests say. Best of luck with ttc number 2! It?s so lovely reading about how Aoife is such a delightful baby. I feel that way about Clara ? she?s been so lovely. So much so that I ended up sobbing on her birthday because I didn?t want it to end!

Your bedroom sounds fab ( I LOVE teal ? the thing that struck me most about the new Upstairs Downstairs that was on over Xmas was how fabulous their teal hall with the black and white checked floor looked) and I hope you meet your christening decorating deadline. Speaking as one who is now considering paying a painter just to try and actually get it all finished all I can say is that I know the challenge of living with a ?work in progress? sort of house. Btw, what on earth is Zymba?

Head Hope the nanny hunt is going well. I was so sorry to read that you got left in the lurch. It must be so frustrating, especially when you had no idea that it was coming. On the upside I hope you?ve enjoyed the surprise ?holiday? with them both! Not sure how Luca is at the moment but Freddie is being an absolute terror. I don?t know if they get some sort of testosterone surge at 3 and a half or something but honestly, he is driving me potty. The simplest request is usually met with something along the lines ?NO! I DON?T WANT TO.? He is of course angelic at nursery and with anybody else except me but he is doing some serious boundary pushing. One of the reasons I?ve been so worn out every night recently is that just getting through the day with him can be such a battle. He has insane amounts of energy ? he basically needs to be exercised like some mad border collie or he becomes utterly impossible. Not great in this weather.

Best of luck with the Atkins or variant of. I did something similar ? the Neris and India diet which is low carbing but not quite as hardcore as Atkins although it is in the first couple of weeks. I have to say it has worked really well for DH and I and I?ve just adapted my cooking now. I have carbs now but tend to take them in the form of starchy veg, oats and pulses rather than bread, pasta etc. My weight seems reasonably stable and I don?t feel like I?m missing out which I think is pretty essential.

OK, well Top Gear is drawing to close and DH may want to have a conversation By the way, I am also super keen to meet you all ? am currently free most weekends in March and April and can get to Barnes reasonably easily I think ? it is on the mainline to Waterloo isn?t it? If so, I can get a train direct from Reading. It stops everywhere but at least there isn?t too much faffing with changes.

Farewell for now my lovely friends. Jumping and Sunny if you are lurking hello there!

BellaBalloon · 31/01/2011 19:09

Super quicke run in and out post form me to say hurrah! wasabi is back Smile

Having my girls night in tonight so took the day off work (boys at nursery) to gut house, plump pillows and lay then at an angle just so, clean and polish 10 wine glasses and get the PS3 hooked up for a big of singtstar Grin. Can't wait, DH is staying at his Mum's witht he boys so I can "party on Wayne, party on Garth"

I must remember 1 x glass of wine THEN 1 PINT of water, repeat until drunk myself sober Grin

gonerogue · 09/02/2011 18:49

Hello ladies -

Just a quick one to day Hello

Blue hope your girls night in went well - the pics looked good.

Hi Wasabi Zymba is actually Zumba - basically aerobics with latin dance moves thrown in we have a maltese instructor and her husband - it's a brilliant laugh and I do it with my sisters and it's just a fun exercise class.
Hope the child free wedding went well and hte cat episode didn't set your schedule back too much Grin

Bella how was your night out?

The christening went really well - we had a brilliant day except for a slight delay in getting to the church - but after that it was cool
We didn't finish the hall completely the sanding of hte banisters hasn't been finished (it is such a horrible job) but I decided that it wasn't worth the stress.

okay have a crying babe - will come back soon

wasabipeanut · 16/02/2011 21:49

Wow it's super quiet here. I'm back with my nose firmly to the grindstone after some lovely gadding around! The child free wedding was fabulous. The hotel was gorgeous - Jo Malone toiletries if you please which obviously I took home and am eking out like mad. We checked in early, had lots of fun and then got dressed up and got enjoyably hammered with lots of friends and old work acquaintances that I hadn't seen in ages. We then took a leisurely lunch on the way back as well. Kids were fine and dandy being spolit rotten by granny & grandpop.

It's been my birthday too which was so nice - just a family lunch with DH, my parents and the kids then we hung out, had birthday champers and choccy brownies then DH and I went to see The Kings Speech. Such a fab film. I loved it.

Now however, I have 2 editorial briefs pending and a teething Clara. She is in rude health apaert from dental grumpiness and so close to walking. Cruising at lightening speed and standing on her own for few seconds at a time. I guess it can't be long now until I officially have 2 toddlers on my hands.

Some not so great news - My dad has just been readmitted to hospital as well for further surgery on his collapsed lung which hasn't sorted itself out plus another CT scan and a biopsy on a lesion they found on his "good" lung. All a bit worrying. To be very blunt, it may be lung cancer but it probably isn't. Some other smoke related damage is the more likely option. He'll be home by the weekend fingers crossed but we won't get the biopsy results for a week. In the absence of any solid data I'm trying not to worry but it's quite difficult. We'll see.

bella Sounds like you had a blast at your child free wedding! Fags too - go girl. I would love to be able to smoke socially just every now and again the way DH does (he smokes about 2 fags, once a quarter) but I know that if have so much as one, the road to 20 a day will be short. Guess who I got the addictive gene from? I'm glad you had such a great time. Even if you did feel a little queasy in the morning Wink How is work going? You have barely posted since you went back - hope you are good busy not bad busy.

Blue Your girls night in looked like a hoot! I love the fact that you took the day off to plump your cushions. Did you remember to drink a glass of water between each glass of wine? Nope didn't think so. I never do either.

Did you manage to get the boys to see Yogi Bear the other day? I am taking Fred to see The Way Back Home on Saturday which is an Oliver Jeffries book. Its so cute - about a little boy who finds an aeroplane in the cupboard then gets stuck on the moon. He then finds an martian who is also stuck and they help eachother get home. I have no idea what a stage version will be like so fingers crossed he likes it. My friend took her son to see Bob The Builder about 18 months ago and he got really scared and started crying. She was massively pregnant with twins at the time and had to sit and watch it on her own while her DH took their boy out to calm down.

Rogue Thank you for explaining Zumba! It sounds fun - one of my other facebook friends is off to a class tonight. I can imagine that doing a class with your sisters must be a real laugh. The christening sounded lovely. How is your gorgeous little girl?

Blimey, this thread is missing sveral people now and I am still managing marathon posts.

Love you all and big shouts to Head, Jumping and Sunny if you're lurking....xx

gonerogue · 01/03/2011 20:20

SO not so soon then - and looks like you are all busy too. Grin

Aoife is great these days except I think she is going througha growth spurt - she drank so much yesterday and woke up loads. AM quite tired these days.

Bella how are things with you hope work isn't giving you too much to do on top of your lovely little boy Grin

I am on a health kick these days - I have a wedding in May to go to so will have to lose half a stone for that. I have my Zumba, will be cutting back on treats and am going swimming as well. We brought Aoife swimming for the first time at the weekend and she absolutely loved it.

wasabi hope your Dad is ok. It's horrible when you have to worry about your parents health as they get older. Thinking about you and hoping all is well.

Has Clara started walking yet? Aoife is so cute - she is goign to be crawling soon I think she can get up on her knees but the front half of her stays resolutely earthbound. Grin

Blue, Jumping, Sunny, Head hope all is well chez vous and I will come back asap.

Talk to you all soon

gonerogue · 16/03/2011 21:37

Hello ladies

Hope everyone is ok and that Real life is interesting and fun and that's why you are all awol. Grin

We are all doing well chez rogue, Aoife is going to be seven months old in another week. She has had her first swimming session and loved it.
I went to a hen weekend last weekend and DH had Aoife for the whole weekend. I think he has developed a healthy respect for what I do with her all day now. Grin He was so happy to see me get off the train on Sunday.

I also have my driving test on Friday week so fingers crossed that goes well too.

It feels strange not to have personals to write - wasabi hope your dad is ok.

Hello to everyone else- I really hope I'm not the last saddo who refuses to leave the pub.

Hopefully will see read updates from you all soon

gonerogue · 17/03/2011 17:15

Oh and Happy St. Patricks Day to one and all :-)

Issy42 · 17/03/2011 18:32

Happy St Patrick's Day to you too and good luck with the driving test.

headfairy · 20/03/2011 21:57

Hello all, I'm here too. sossososososososo sorry, work has been hellish for the past two months, bloody middle east and Japan have got between me and mumsnet. Gosh that makes me sound very selfish, sorry, Japan story has been horrendous. But the middle East thing just rumbles on giving me more and more grey hairs every day. Anyway, the upshot is I never seem to get a chance to get on for more than five minutes. I promise I will read up and try and do personals tomorrow (all being well, tsunamis and wars not withstanding) when I'm at work.

Nighty night x

BellaBalloon · 01/04/2011 20:18

hey hey hey ladies
my it has gone all quiet in here. Hope it's for good reasons.
I have been busy with RL but happily so I must say. Work is going well. I am on a really really interesting juicy case and working for a new partner who is totally lovely and brilliant to work for. I am finding it quite hard to shift from being slightly daydreamy mummy to kickass lawyer. in fact I am not really succeeding there but am trying. I find that I take a couple of days to really warm up and then it's the weekend again. Still I am absolutely not complaining because it's such a fortunate position to be in.

I am absolutely loving being in our own house again, of course! and since I have been back at work i have been sharing the mornings with DP which is great specially since the early ones keep falling on DP's watch teeheeehee.

It's so funny since I was last on I really feel like Mr G has become a toddler and has left babydom behind. it's so weird even writing that but it's true. I find him much easier now because he loves just walking around holding things and putting them down and reorganising cupboards and since they are my cupboards and they are sensibly arranged there is no cause for stress like there was at my mum and dads. He is cuddlier than ever in between causing havoc which is very cute too and he is loving going to the swings though mainly for the slides...

i remember posting just before g was born about how an 18 month old boy had been round and basically put me off having one, but now i think this in between baby and little person phase is just brilliant!

ROgue you are so brave leaving aiofe for a hen weekend. good on you. i am still a bit wimpy about leaving G for a night. i also think it's great to remind the DHs what it's like to do it non stop. however sweet they are it is tiring not getting down time. is she still a total angel? loving her food?

head work sounds very tiring for you. hope your babies are still as gorgeous as ever. is francesca saying proper words yet? she seemed to get round to most things quite early iirc? G still loves to say dadadadada and variations thereof. he also speaks in what sounds like one of those made up languages you used to speak in as a kid iykwim and sometimes i could swear he was saying yeah...yeah..yeah but i think he will be just jabbering nonsense for months to come which is obviously fine by me, i quite like talking back to him in it.

since i have been back at work and he has been attending playgroups he has had sooo many bugs. most recently it was the delightful d&v one which i caught too. grim. he is banned from one particular playgroup for a while! But then i took him to this place i can only describe as baby blackpool. it was a little soft play type place but with baby arcade games. seriously depressing. It made me feel a bit sad inside. needless to say g bloody loved it! am hoping that he is not now a breeding ground for some other grotesque affliction involving stinking excretions.

wasabi is your dad ok? is Clara steaming around the place now? does she still have a husky voice?! how is it going juggling your work and les babies?
i just remembered that Clara is G's cyber twin! I so love that fact. does she love walking outside? that is definitely G's activity of choice these days...

missblue cooooeeeeeeeeee have you been getting up to no good with your mates again lately? i haven't been on FB for ages either but I remember thinking that your girls night in looked fab.

Anyway.
How the bloody hell ARE you all? - WHERE are you all!??!

come and fill me in soon.
xxxxxxxxxxxx

ps what do you feed your littlies these days? i have been stuck in a rice and pasta rut with bits of omelette and hummous sarnies chucked in. need some hinspiration big time. muchos grazias. xx

bluesatinsash · 01/04/2011 20:44

I was going to post tonight to mark my spot and lo there is a post from none other than Miss B of the Balloonness Grin

I have been a slattern and not posting, not that I don't lurk and keep tabs on your all. Gotten lazy as feel I keep connected with your comings and goings on FB and I try not to spend too long on PC as we've got an old fashioned desk top up in the spare room one which means I'n squirreled away..

Anyway, will make a concerted effort now spring has sprung. Like wasabi I've been in the huff Jan-March but its April - yay!

Bella - lovely to hear you describe G and his toddlerdom Smile. My B is still entrenched in babyness as he can't walk yet but boy can he talk - yakkity yak, just like his Mum Smile. Great that you are settle din your new - toddler friendly - house and work/life balance is working! Long may it continue! Food wise, I still cook in batches and freeze so always have a cheesy fish/bolognae/tuna lasagne/chicken casserole dish in my ice cube trays/freezer bags plus he loves to finger food macaroni, truna steak (fried and cut into chnks). Also french toast with a slight smear of brown sauce, roasted cheese, salmon fillet etc.

Rogue - had to Smile at your DH's new appreciation of you and his palpable relief when you reappeared after your hen do Grin. Loved the photo of you and Aoife on the couch and your new dog is adorable. What a bust household you have on your hands Smile

wasabi - you must all be so relieved after your Dad's op. Does he have a follow up check? did you get suitable no pin shoes for C? I must admit I had a teeny "I-would-love-to-be-able-to-buy-pink" moment but it soon passed as I ordere B some gorgeous new knitwear from mini b. How's your work/life balance going on?

Head - the big question is are you covering the Royal Wedding?? Overtimecity! How are your two doing? What's the nanny situ? loved Luca in his ski gear Smile

All good at bluetowers. It'd Dh and my seven year anniversary tomorrw (seven years is wool btw - wonder if that's why its called the seven year itch - boom cha). We're off to St Andrews as in-laws have bought a new shiny static caravan for our use. Boys joining us on Sunday and we're staying til Tues as we're off all next week. Benjamin is a joyous baby, still sleeping like a log and full of mischief. We go to a music class now on a Thurs morning as he no longer naps then and he loves it. hahahaha Bella I'm rubbish, I promise to come back and then disappear for days. Sorry about that, I really am shit! We're on holiday at the moment, at my FILs in Italy. We're really close to the ski resorts around Mont Blanc, so Luca's had his first ski lessons. Francesca has been charging around in the snow in her snow suit and wearing herself out. It's funny because up in the resort it's winter - snow everywhere, and just a 20 min drive down the mountain to my FILs house and it's spring, practially summer. It was 25 degrees here today. Bonkers!

Anyway, I shouldn't really do a full catch up when we're on hols but I couldn't let you go unanswered....

Glad to hear work is going well, it sounds really interesting. It is hard doing the gear change, I find the train ride to work when I sit and read the paper thoroughly (not just the headlines but the comment, opinion and editorial pieces too) my switch over period. I do have to have a little chuckle sometimes though when I'm rummaging through my bag at work to find a pen or something and I pull out a Fireman Sam figure or something like that! All working parents are a bit schitzo really, taking off our mummy/daddy hats to go to work!

It's funny you should say that you feel G is growing up so fast. I'm sure I felt the same with Luca at this age, he was so independent as he was walking from such an early age like Francesca, but this time around Francesca feels such a baby. I guess it's because I compare her alongside her brother, who is obviously so much more grown up than her. It is nice though to not have to carry a baby round so much, you will so love the independence a toddler gives you.... maybe not the tantrums though. Francesca is such a little madam already, she throws spectacular wobblers. I'm afraid I just laugh at them because it is so funny to see her go red and scream at me in frustration!

Francesca's has started saying a few words. The first one was shoe. Bless her, she's such a girl, she says shoooooooo a lot! She's added a few more recently. Daddy and mama, poo, yeah and no. The poo one is great, because she grabs her nappy and says poooooo. If I say "have you done a poo?" she answers "yeah" :o She also says milll for milk, and jooooooose for juice. She says "saaaaaam" which is our cat's name, but she says that to any animal so I think she's a bit confused on that one.

Righty, I'd better go, dh is giving me funny looks for being on the pc on holiday... will be back on when I'm back at work next week. Happy mothers day (for Sunday) everyone xxxxx

Oooh forgot the food thing.... hmmm Francesca will everything and anything. This holiday has proved that. FIL is a former chef so has cooked lots of new things for her, polenta with beef stew, veal cooked in garlic and sage, bollito (kind of boiled meat and veg covered in oodles of sauce made with parsley, garlic and olive oil - tis absolutely yum). I don't mush things up much any more, just cut up the larger chunks, and she's away. She will literally eat anything. Luca is the one that's being fussy. He'll only eat pasta, fish fingers, chicken nuggets and pizza. Grrrr!

That said, when we're at home I quite often do stir fries for Francesca, veg cut up teeny tiny and stir fried with some garlic and a scrape of fresh ginger, add some chopped cooked chicken and some cooked rice. I often add a dash of something called Ketsap Manis which is indonesian soy sauce which is quite sweet, not salty like normal soy sauce. It's really yummy and a dribble is enough to sweeten and add bags of flavour.

If I'm making a shepherds/cottage/fish pie I'll often make a couple of teeny ones in ramekins and freeze them for Francesca too. Usually though she'll have a bit of whatever dh and I had for dinner the night before, she likes my sausage casserole, and my kedgeree (I got the recipe from an Annable Karmel book).

Oops. I can hear Francesca yelling, I hope that's given you a couple of ideas...
