Thought this was about due, hope that's okay

Well, no solids here (forget who asked that, sorry) - except she licked my finger when I was pureeing some apple but I don't think that really counts ). I have icecubes of carrot, apple and pear ready in the freezer though but really she's fine on milk and I'm in no rush.

She's now all formula fed though - we did mix feed for a bit but she quickly forgot how to draw the hind milk so was getting less and less from me, plus we got thrush again so I really wasn't sorry to finish to be honest. I much prefer the routine we can have now and am just pleased she got 4 months of breast first. It really was as much as I could do and stay sane.

She is such a smiley baby it's untrue - you only have to glance her way and she beams, it's so nice to see. She naps better too - 2/3 hours in the afternoon plus a small nap in the morning - and that helps her be happier I'm sure. She was 15lb a couple of weeks ago by the way.

She's 4 months, 1 week and 3 days old today.

Cristina well done and good luck misdee with the driving.

I keep meaning to take rebecca swimming as I'm sure she'd love it but I haven't figured out how I'd manage two of them in the pool and changing room yet, maybe I'll talk dh into going with us at the weekend - that'd help. Dd1 is so lively and into everything I'd probably lose her while looking after dd2.

I am whispering this very quietly in case harry hears.....

we have had 2 really good nights.....feed around tenish then slept til 4 then back to sleep til 7:30 then last night, fed around ten and slept til 4:50. then awake at 6!

Shhhhhhh!!!

busywizzy · 29/08/2005 15:47

Popsycal, hooray (said in a very quiet voice) . Long may it continue.

Pidge · 29/08/2005 20:51

Ooooh popsycal - quiet jubilation!! It shows he can do it at least - long may it continue.

Today we had the unheard of event of Iris sleeping 1.5 hours in the afternoon. Up until now her daytime naps have been bang on the half hour without exception - you could set a clock by her! Here's hoping she can continue the snooze-fest tonight.

Contemplating a trip to the seaside tomorrow as the weather is so lovely - am off to pack the buckets and spades.

popsycal · 30/08/2005 12:52

Not as good last night....but then he didnt wake for his 10pm feed.....and went til 12:30!
Then fed again at 5am......
He didnt feed much though....so much so that I woke with exploding boobs and a soaking wet top

Must buy more breast pads

busywizzy · 30/08/2005 13:23

Yeah for Harry, you'll be boasting about your 12 hour sleeping baby in no time .

Are you going back to work this week Popsycal, if so good luck, especially with the expressing.

PreggieMum · 30/08/2005 15:28

Please could I join here? I was on the due in March 2005 thread, but DD was actually born end of Feb. DD2 is 6 months + 1 week. I also have a DD1 who is nearly 18 months, so as you can imagine things are pretty hectic - hence the lack of posts recently.

I managed to breastfeed DD until around 4 months and have been gradually switching to formula, because I found that I was feeding almost constantly. She is now on just 1 BF per day, the rest are formula. Started DD on solids 3 weeks ago. She is currently on 2 meals a day taking around 10-12 spoonfuls each meal. So far we have tried banana, apple, carrot, potato, mango. I will probably start to introduce some poultry/meat in a week or 2.

DD still isn't sleeping too well. She is currently waking 3 times per night, but won't take a dummy. This is however a big improvement on how she was a month ago (she was waking around 6 times a night!!!!!)

busywizzy · 30/08/2005 16:57

Welcome preggiemum, nice to have a new member of the gang. Where are you from and what is DD's name? I like anyone who has a little one who still doesn't sleep through. Makes me feel like I'm not the only one .

Having said that, Harrison slept through from 7.30pm until 7.05am . I was so shocked when I woke up and it was light!! Won't get too excited though as he's done this before and then the following week he's woken anytime between 1.30am and 6.00am.

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather in the UK. What a treat to have a Bank Holiday where you can go outside

PreggieMum · 30/08/2005 17:59

I live near Reading in the UK. DD2 is called Abigail.... Weather really is great isn't it?!! Almost TOO HOT for once! Both DDs are asleep at the moment, but I'm sure DD2 will be wide awake when it's bedtime

3mummy · 01/09/2005 09:52

Just wanted to say hi again, and a big big thankyou for all your kind thoughts, I really appreciate them! I'm now at a stage where I'm coming to terms with the shock of the situation. For the first few days I just tried to concentrate on myself and my girls, I persevered with putting Faith to the breast and my milk returned!! So we are BF again, which I'm very happy about.

Husband has been back to spend time with the children. I'm still not sure exactly what I want, or what decision I could live with but I miss the man he was. I loved him so much, my heart breaks every time it hits me again what he did.

I do believe it's over between them, I'm just not sure what the future holds. I worry about what sort of life we will have if we stay together, but I don't want to throw away a chance to love and be happy again.

But I haven't given up MN!!

I was amazed by all your concern and feel like I have a whole load of good mates on here, why should I let him ruin this too?! So I'm going on my first MN meet next week.

Thanks again all .

busywizzy · 01/09/2005 10:10

3mummy, so good to hear from you and overjoyed your milk has returned as that must give you lots of comfort You sound like you are being so strong for your girls and for yourself and I really admire how you are handling this.

Have fun next week, goodness knows you deserve it

Pidge · 01/09/2005 10:37

3mummy - lovely to hear from you - and good news on the milk. What an amazing mum you're being.

Typing one handed as Iris is grump the grump and won't be put down. She has a cold and woke last night at 11, 2 and 5.45 and then wouldn't go back to sleep. Rather too early a start for my liking.

Had her weighed yesterday and she is 19lb 7 (8.9kg) - HUGE. I think that makes her the average weight of a 9-10 mth old and she's not 6 months yet! So maybe that's why she wakes so much at night. I've never believed in solids aiding sleep as my first dd did 12 hours on just breastmilk, but am now hoping that when I start her next week it'll be a magic answer!!

jambot · 01/09/2005 11:46

Hi 3mummy. Glad our words did you some good. Hang in there.
Pidge, Lauren is also about that weight now and she'll be six months on the 9th. She's luckily also very tall for her age, but she's still a bit chubby. Not so much on her body, but her face looks like she's storing up food for the famine and she had chubby little legs. I'm not concerned as the MW says she's on the 95th percentile for height and weight, which makes her in proportion. She just looks huge for her age - but from what I remember, quite a few of us on here have got giant babies.
Now that she is on solids 3 times a day, she is pooing for Africa! At least 4 poo nappies a day, and almost always wakes with one. Luckily it doesn't seem to worry her. Normally decides to go while I'm feeding her so we have to have a 'poo break' halfway through while she does her beetroot impression!
Still no sign that she'll be sitting soon. Loves to sit supported by falls over after a few seconds. Still hates being on her tummy, but loves to stand. Don't know how she'll ever get round to crawling, but I suppose they all do at some stage. Maybe she'll just go from sit to stand to walk. Is that possible?

Pidge · 01/09/2005 13:36

jambot - Iris was born on the 9th too. So our two fatties share a birthday!

Some babies skip crawling and go straight into cruising then walking - so maybe Lauren will do that? The other thing is I think most babies learn to crawl from the sitting position rather than from tummy. They sit and then launch forwards!

Am getting quite excited about giving Iris food next week. I cleaned our old high chair yesterday, which was encrusted with truly revolting remnants fron dd1's days!

busywizzy · 01/09/2005 15:53

Hello everyone. We have our first tooth . I can just see it breaking through the gum so that would probably account for the temperature/nappies/grumpiness/waking of last week. Pidge, maybe Iris is about to cut a tooth as that sounds a lot like Harrison. Sooo ..... I have been religiously rubbing teething gel into his bottom gum for the past 2-3 weeks, cursing that it was making no difference to him at all. The reason I now discover is ....... the tooth has cut through the top (bad mummy)

Now that it's through I'm going to get tough again on getting him to sleep through the night. He was doing this (sort of) before our week of broken sleep and has done it twice since he's been feeling better. But the last two nights he has woken at about 4.00am and hasn't wanted to go back to sleep. I've given him a small feed in case he was hungry (as he went right off food when his tooth was cutting through) but he has just messed about when he's gone back in his cot (and laughed out loud at me when I've gone to sshhh him ) and hasn't fed well in the morning. So ... tonights the night, that's the plan anyway!

Also had a look at the photobucket, they are all so cute and so many of them have such a lot of hair. Harrison is a baldy and hopefully, I'll get a chance to get some photos of him on this weekend.

Jambot, totally agree with you about the nappies once they go onto solids ....uuugghh, especially in the middle of the night!!!

Preggiemum, I'm in Hook so just down the road.

Hope everything is well with you all.

ronniebaby · 01/09/2005 21:55

3mummy - You silly mare, why on earth didnt you ring me, I'd have been round in a flash. You know that.

If you wanna chat call me, or text me, I'm free tomorrow if you want some company.

I'd prefer to chat to you about your situation face to face and give you a GREAT BIG HUG.

misdee · 01/09/2005 22:00

Hi

am still about, mainly lurking atm, 3rd abby syndrome and all that, not amazed by every little thing they do, its still milestones but atm, its good progress but dont have time to keep track, i sound like i am a bad mummy, but i'm not honest!!

Serena is doing well, actually got round to the clinic yesterday and she is only 14lb 14oz, a little scrap of a thing lol. but so cute, she was busy coo-ing at everyone and giving massive toothy grins. she is a little love, and we all adore her. every morning, i feed serena in my bed, and every morning my other 2 girls get in to cuddle serena as well. its lovely, a quiet magical moment for me and my girls. untill dd2 gets thirsty and throws a cup at my head, it never lasts does it? lol.

bonym · 01/09/2005 22:10

Hi everyone - good to hear from you 3mummy and a big at your milk coming back.

Good to hear from you again too Preggiemum - remember you from the due March threads.

Busywizzy - Grace is also a baldy , she has less now than when she was born and there doesn't seem to be much sign of it growing back atm!

She is trying desperately to crawl - as soon as she is laid down on her back she turns on to her tummy and then pulls her knees up under her but can't really do any more than that. She gets so frustrated with herself poor little thing.

Am being a bit laid-back about giving her solids - although we started last week I am not giving them every day as not 100% convinced that it's the right thing yet. Had planned to breastfeed exclusively for 1st 6mths but she does seem to be ready for solids - whatever I have given her (carrot, apple, banana) is eaten with relish and she doesn't spit any out. Was a bit concerned about the allergy thing as she has mild eczema but was reading some old threads yesterday and it seems that there has not been any sign of increased allergies with weaning prior to 6mths (I think it was 3mummy in fact who posted this from the WHO website). So - will continue probably once a day for now until she is 6 months and then increase.

ronniebaby · 02/09/2005 18:02

3mummy - it was really good to see you today and I meant what I said, if you need me for anything, just call or text.

Norash · 03/09/2005 00:57

Hey 3Mummy glad that you are back , hope it all works out for you.

3mummy · 03/09/2005 14:45

Hi, thanks again everyone. A couple of extra thankyous to Norash and Ronniebaby .

Norash, your message was a boost I needed, thanks, I may take you up on the offer .

Ronniebaby, appreciate your visit, talking really does help, and it's good to know I won't be alone in the school playground this week . I'm still not looking forward to it, but I've got the courage to deal with it thanks to everyones support.

shalaa · 03/09/2005 21:14

Glad to here from you 3mummy! Your being very brave for your girls.

Caleb tried cous cous and trout last night! He seemed to quite enjoy it, he's on 2-3 meals a day depending on time as were often out and about at lunch. Have been carrying him round in a baby backpack and he really enjoys it. Also trying very hard to crawl, he's not far off! No sign of any teggies popping through yet. Can't belive my little man will be 7 months in just over 2wks

Pidge · 05/09/2005 10:09

I have on my shopping list for today baby rice, so will finally be joining you in the spoon feeding, bib wearing stakes!

We had a great weekend - dp was best man at a wedding, so dd1 was shipped off to a birthday party and then a sleepover (her first ever) at a friend's house. Whilst Iris and I joined in the wedding celebrations, and caught up with old friends. Am still feeling a bit sleep deprived after getting only 4 hours sleep that night - but Iris managed to treat me to only 2 wake ups last night.

Iris is now managing to sit for a couple of minutes when she concentrates, but is still at the stage where she keels over with a thud when she gets distracted. She rolls around like a whirlygig and is even pushing her bum in the air in a hilarious crawling type effort. Not that she goes anywhere other than sideways.

Dp is back at school today, and dd1 with the childminder, so I'm trying to get back in some kind of routine after the lovely holidays.

Norash · 05/09/2005 10:17

Hey Pidge,

I am glad to here that you and Iris are doing well. Kieran is doing much the same here in regards to crawling.
I find the peach and banana stuff from Hipp much nicer than baby rice, it smells and tastes much better too.

Pidge · 05/09/2005 10:30

Norash - I know baby rice looks disgusting, weirdly my dd1 rather liked it! Maybe having got to 6 months on no food she would have eaten anything. We'll see what Iris makes of it. I have a bit of expressed milk in the freezer and I thought baby rice was a good way of using that up, given that Iris isn't a bottles girl.

Am getting quite excited about food now - though I may wait a day or two before actually wielding the spoon. It depends how chaotic today is!

All you real nappy users - does anyone have a recommendation as to where to buy reasonably priced wraps? We have a million nappies, but the wraps we were given are getting rather tight on Iris's rolls of blubber.

shalaa · 05/09/2005 15:18

Have to say that baby rice has the taste, look & texture of wallpaper paste. Can't blame any baby who pulls a face and spits it out!
