Thought this was about due, hope that's okay

Well, no solids here (forget who asked that, sorry) - except she licked my finger when I was pureeing some apple but I don't think that really counts ). I have icecubes of carrot, apple and pear ready in the freezer though but really she's fine on milk and I'm in no rush.

She's now all formula fed though - we did mix feed for a bit but she quickly forgot how to draw the hind milk so was getting less and less from me, plus we got thrush again so I really wasn't sorry to finish to be honest. I much prefer the routine we can have now and am just pleased she got 4 months of breast first. It really was as much as I could do and stay sane.

She is such a smiley baby it's untrue - you only have to glance her way and she beams, it's so nice to see. She naps better too - 2/3 hours in the afternoon plus a small nap in the morning - and that helps her be happier I'm sure. She was 15lb a couple of weeks ago by the way.

She's 4 months, 1 week and 3 days old today.

Cristina well done and good luck misdee with the driving.

I keep meaning to take rebecca swimming as I'm sure she'd love it but I haven't figured out how I'd manage two of them in the pool and changing room yet, maybe I'll talk dh into going with us at the weekend - that'd help. Dd1 is so lively and into everything I'd probably lose her while looking after dd2.

Cristina7 - a quick note on the bf front - I think it's very normal for them to cut back on feeds at this stage, and for the feeds to be much shorter. Though of course milk is still the most important thing nutritionally. But they can get that milk really fast. Iris is sometimes on for only 3 minutes - but I think she feeds so fast she's wolfed the lot in that time! And my recollection is that the let down reflex is much less marked as the months go by. I feel it really strongly usually, but with my older daughter who I fed till 2, I barely noticed it at all by the end.

I've been wondering about the leaking at night business. I'm still wearing my bra with breastpads in as I tend to leak a lot, but it's really annoying at nighttime. Maybe I'll give it a go without.

Am definitely finding Iris is easily distracted during feeds now. I quite often have to retire to a quiet room to persuade her to feed.

Iris sitting on the floor beside me bashing on dd1's xylophone / piano thing, and looking really surprised everytime it makes a noise .

And I have half an eye on the cricket, but must tear myself away if only to go out and buy baby rice, as Iris has gone through a whole box in a week!! I'm remembering what annoying stuff it is - you mix it in with the milk and get a nice consistency for spooning, and then a minute later it's gone completely liquid again, so you add some more and it goes all lumpy, and then it does the whole changing consistency to liquid again ... etc!

Hi all,

Just in to see if all is well, Kieran is keeping me very busy during the day, but atleast he is sleeping through the night. He has slept through from between 7-8pm and wakes up again between 7-8am. Didn't want to say anything incase I jinxed it.

I hope you guys are all doing well

JoPG · 12/09/2005 22:06

Can anyone tell me how to look at the photos in the photo bucket?
Would love to see what all the babes that I've been reading about look like.

Norash · 12/09/2005 22:13

JoPG, can I CAT you? You need a password, I will CAT you anyway

Norash · 12/09/2005 22:17

shalaa · 13/09/2005 13:13

Sat here about to type and Caleb pukes up a load of curdled thick breast milk! He's starting sticking his bum in the air and pushing up on his arms so not long till he's crawling!

Start work tonight at the local hospital 6pm-11pm so will be knackered tomorrow, even though Caleb is being watched by my mum and his dad i'm still really nervous about leaving him! This will be the longest i've been apart from my precious gorgeous little man

bonym · 13/09/2005 14:10

Oh shaalaa - hope your first night goes ok - I'm sure Caleb will be fine. At least he's with people you know and trust - maybe he will sleep the whole time you're away .

I took Grace "swimming" this morning with a friend and her baby. She went in the pool when we were on hols but this was her first time in a big pool - think she was a bit overwhelmed at first but seemed to quite like it. I'd hoped it would wear her out and she would sleep for a long time when we got home. No such luck - she went down fine but only slept for half an hour and then was ready to play again!
She is protesting loudly on my lap at the moment so I will have to go!

busywizzy · 13/09/2005 20:39

Hello everyone,

Well, having thought we'd cracked it on the 'sleeping through the night' front (except for the early morning wakings) Harrison last night woke at 3.00am and finally went back to sleep at 4.30am. Woke again at 6.30am when we got up. Mr Consistent, he isn't He's sleeping like a demon during the day though and the last few days has extended his lunchtime nap to two hours. So at least I get a bit of time to myself whilst he sleeps and DD is still at school.

Met with a lady from Babykind today to talk about cloth nappies but I'm ashamed to say it just isn't for me The thought of going back to work after Xmas and having to wash and dry nappies every other day on top of all the 'stuff' I'll have to take to and from the childminder was all just too much for me. I look like a cart horse already just with DD's school things. So I'm sticking with Pampers.

Harrison is six months on Sunday and is no closer to sitting up or walking than he was just after he was born I'm really happy about this (bad mummy) as I don't plan to have anymore so I want him to be my baby for as long as possible

Sleep vibes to you all, but I'll keep a few back for myself tonight. That's where I've been going wrong obviously

Good luck Shalaa

3mummy · 13/09/2005 20:50

Hi everyone, just thought I'd pop in while I have a spare moment to let you all know how things are.

Thanks to the support of some very good friends I'm coping with things. Life seems a struggle though and I've recently been very low. Yesterday I saw my doctor who said this situation has triggered PND and she has put me on ADs, unfortunatley this also meant that I breastfed Faith for the last time yesterday.
Faith, on the other hand is thriving!!

My girls bring joy to my world. DD1 has gone back to school into her new class and has settled back in well. DD2 started school last wed and is doing 2 wks of afternoons before starting full days and she loves it .

H and I are going to relate tomorrow so they can mediate. Hopefully it will help me get my head straight.

I will try and catch up with all your posts when I have time, just wanted to say thanks for just being here .

Norash - thankyou for the messages, my pc crashed before I could get back to you and I'm borrowing a laptop at the moment so haven't got access to my emails, but I shall be in touch when I get my pc back!

busywizzy · 13/09/2005 21:01

3mummy, good to hear from you and glad that the girls are happy and doing so well.

Hang in there

JoPG · 13/09/2005 21:09

Have now checked out all the cute photos of the babies in the photobucket.
Thanks Norash for the link and password.

Freya is sleeping very well at night at the moment (7pm until 6am (tho that is quite early) However, for the past few days she seems to just be 'power napping' during the day! Hopefully when DS1 starts school I can get her into a routine of a proper sleep after lunch - no doubt she will call the shots though (as usual!!!)

Cristina7 · 13/09/2005 21:15

3mummu - good to hear you got an appt with Relatre so quickly. Depending on ADs you may be able to continue BF. Good to hear your older DDs enjoy school. At least that's not an extra worry.

Sorry all, I'll stop here as #pC has been mad lately. I can't see anything i type.

Norash · 13/09/2005 21:35

Hi all,
Glad to here that everyone is doing well, >> for those who need them.

3mummy it is good to hear from you and to know that you and the girls are doing well. Sorry to hear about the PND, hope things get better for you.

Sleep well all.

Leogaela · 14/09/2005 08:36

Good morning wonderful mums!

Shalaa - I hope your first evening at work went ok. I hope you didn't feel too bad leaving Caleb. I have started doing Niklas's introduction to the nursery to prepare for going back ot work. On Monday I left him on his own for an hour, its not the first time I've left him wiht people but the first time with people he doesn't know really well. I thought I was prepared for it but after I left him I felt as if my stomach had been torn out and I burst into tears !

Pidge - lots of respect for your running friend! A few weeks ago I said that I would run a marathon next year, but didn't get much further than that. I did go running with the pushchair for the first time yesterday though! It felt great and I am very proud of myself!

I was looking at teh photo bucket again the other day - lovely, beautiful babies! I will try to put some more photos up this week.

Bonym, Grace's door bouncer looks great, much better than the one I got for Niklas. His doesn't hold him very securely and I think it has rubbed his lovely little bottom red! You are all so lucky, you get so much more choice of things to buy in the UK.

Big for 3mummy. I think you can probably expect to be feeling , its going to take time. Its good to hear you have got good friends to support oyu. I really hope it goes well at relate.

Norash · 14/09/2005 08:55

Goodmorning all,

I hope we all had a better or good night .

Leogaela, congrats on the run

Bonym, which door bouncer have you got?

I wanted to get Kieran a door bouncer because I know he would love it. Only problem is, most of the ones I have looked at only hold up to 12kg and he is nearly 10kg.

He slept through again, I do hope that he does not go back to waking for a feed in the night as "I'm lovin'" the new routine.

Norash · 14/09/2005 10:15

Hey Guys, what happened to Tamula?

PreggieMum · 14/09/2005 11:23

Hi all,
DDs are both asleep, so thought I'd take the opportunity to catch up on this thread..... I hadn't realised everyone posts so frequently!Busywizzy, I see you live in Hook that's not far from me at all. Where is everyone else from?

DD2 is now able to sit up for a minute or 2 at a time, but then throws herself backwards, so I'm still putting cushions around her.

Weaning is going reasonably well and she's beginning to sleep a bit better too

No signs of her crawling yet, she seems to go round in circles when she's on her tummy, but hasn't mastered travelling forwards or backwards yet.

busywizzy · 14/09/2005 11:28

Morning everyone,

Harrison was a good boy last night as although he woke at 3.30am and 5.00am, he took himself straight off back to sleep and eventually woke at 6.15am. I'm with JoPG that I'm finding the early morning starts soooo hard as I'm deffo a night owl. However the good thing is that by the time DD surfaces at 7.30am, I've got everything ready for school as I've been up for so long. So now, we're never rushing or late (all you 1st time mummies will eventually learn that the worst crime a mummy can commit is causing your little one to be late for school ) and she's soo happy with me for this

Harrison and I have been out walking in his backpack again this morning and he's so happy in it. It's also great exercise as it's hard, hard work carrying 20lb on your back but I have to get rid of my 'fat bottom' as DD tells me I need to wear 'trendy clothes' when I collect her from school like all the other mummies and not tracksuit bottoms and a fleece Oh the shame of letting down your children !! I've also started running with DD once a week (2.5 miles)as she is in her schools athletic squad and is training for a competition in October. I'm ashamed to admit we spend the whole time with her saying 'come onnnnn mummy' as I gasp for breath

Have a good day everyone

busywizzy · 14/09/2005 11:28

Hi preggiemum, nice to hear from you again.

busywizzy · 14/09/2005 11:32

Sorry, me again. Leogalea meant to say that you're not alone in crying over Niklaus. When I used to leave DD at her nursey induction sessions, I used to come home and spend the time making lovely Annabel Karmel meals for her (guilt cooking I suspect) and crying the whole time until I collected her It does get easier but it just takes time

Pidge · 14/09/2005 12:15

busywizzy - your daughter sounds brilliant! I too have been out running, but only once and fortunately I didn't have a daughter to embarrass me! I went super super slow and did about 15 minutes, am hoping to do the same tonight.

I'm a bit scared of running with the buggy - I was once running with dd1 in the buggy cos we were late for something, and I hit a pothole and the whole pushchair tipped over with me flying over the top. Dd1 ws 6 months and fortunately strapped firmly inside, plus it was winter so she had a huge furry hat on which protected her from the pavement ... oops!

I also wept when leaving dd1 at nursery. Like you Leogaela I thought I was prepared, but cried all the way home. It did get better though, and I'm hoping this time round (not till January) I'll be super composed and calm about it.

We have a tippitoes bouncer which Iris adores.

Thinking of you 3mummy - hope relate proves helpful, whichever path you follow.

bonym · 14/09/2005 14:29

Hi everyone!
We too have the Tippitoes bouncer - it was passed on by a friend and Grace really loves it.
Leogaela - about leaving Niklas, but as Pidge says, it does get easier. I remember the first time I left dd1, I just sobbed my heart out and I regularly used to sit in the car after dropping her off with tears running down my face. I was always much more upset than she was though. She soon came to love it and often didn't want to come home at the end of the day!
3mummy - good to hear from you - have been thinking about you. Hope the Relate session is positive.
Grace is almost crawling - she managed to move a couple of inches earlier today but it was more of a creep than a crawl . She is soooo determined though - I reckon it will only be another week or two before she's off! She is sitting quite well too, although only stays upright if she doesn't move too much!

shalaa · 14/09/2005 14:38

Thanks for the positive vibes veryone! My hours have changed and i'm now working 5pm-8pm which is fine. Caleb was fine after I went and just played with his grandma & dad! Spent £56 this morning on pixiphotos of Caleb, but they are gorgeous

Hope relate goes well 3mummy. Busywizzie I also go out with Caleb in his backpack he loves it and sings away!
