Starting new thread before we run out of room. Now to link from the old one. Could be interesting

LaDiDaDi - know what you mean about this thread, I was going to say something similar, but couldn't work out how to word it, but you've put it wonderfully. I am very glad I plucked up the courage to join in and stop just lurking!!!

Lee - yay for Andrew and the rolling! Definitely not being daft - it's nice to know that we all feel the same in some ways. Imogen unfortunately wasn't having any of the bottle today though, I think she was too tired and hungry after swimming so we'll just have to try again tomorrow! At least I have hope now...!!!

Well, tried not feeding her to sleep tonight. Took her off before she was completely out and rocked her to sleep. She woke up when I put her in her cot so I left her for a while but ended up going in and rocking her to sleep again. One step at a time I suppose - at least she didn't feed to sleep tonight.

Going to do the midnight feed and then get DH to get up with her early morning and try to rock her back off again - haven't told him that yet though I want to wait till 6.30-7am to give her the first feed of the day then hopefully, she'll start sleeping till then.

Sorry to hear your DS hadn't put on as much weight as you'd hoped LaDiDaDi. Catherine is 2nd centile too and everyone always comments on how small she is. A friend of mine has a baby who is 10 weeks younger than her and still bigger! She's perfectly healthy though so I'm not too worried.

Well done Holly on sleeping and Andrew on rolling. Hope Imogen has a better day with the bottle tomorrow.

I also really like this thread. It's been great to know there are others in the same boat when I'm feeling a bit lost of crazy!

Did you see ABF made it onto the roundup this week? I know it's daft but I almost felt a bit proud that 'one of us' had been mentioned

hendo77 · 11/06/2010 22:19

Where do you find the roundup then? I don't think I've seen that yet and would feel the same - like I knew someone!!!

AlCrowley · 11/06/2010 22:26

In the box on the right of the page, near the top, under the Mark Warner advert. It's called "Sporty brides, porkie pies and knitted love gloves in this week's Talk Round-up"

I get it mailed to me but you have to have set that on your profile options.

hendo77 · 11/06/2010 22:30

Ooooh just read it and it made me laught - especially as I had seen all those threads! Well done ABF on geting a mention!!!

hendo77 · 11/06/2010 22:34

Oh yes and good luck on the sleep tonight Al for you and your dh!

Knocked 2.39 off my personal best this morning and did the 5k in 33.29. Not fast by any means but I'm pleased.

Catherine slept OK last night. She woke at 1.30am for a feed then again at 5am and she was totally awake! Took mean hour to get her back to sleep then she slept till 8.45! Would have loved to have joined her but I had to be at the park for 9am to run.

Going to try taking her off the boob before she's asleep again tonight to try and wean her off feeding to sleep to see if that helps

anotherdoc · 12/06/2010 11:28

Well done Al! Especially after being up in the night.

Moving ds into his cot for the start of the evening did not help his sleep. He was in his cot by 8pm, awake at 9.15 and again at 11pmish when I brought him downstairs for a feed. Cue dd waking up and crying on the landing because she couldn't find any one upstairs. Ds back in his cot again until 1.30am then awake and wanting to be fed so co-slept until 4.30am fed again, awake properly at 6am needed a nappy change by 6.30. Left him awake in his cot after his nappy change so that I could go back and doze with dd, he stayed there for half an hour or so then I brought him back into bed for a feed. He fell asleep again at about 8am and we all woke up at 9.15!

I feed to sleep too and I really don't think that I could manage not to, if I try to take ds off the boob before he's fallen off asleep he either wakes up immediatly or does what he did last night, wakes up again after about an hour.

hendo77 · 12/06/2010 11:30

Faster than I've ever done 5k Al - so fast in my book!

Imogen has just enjoyed yoghurt for breakfast - really funny as she was putting the spoons in her mouth, sucking off the yoghurt then chewing it (she obviously doesn't quite get not everything needs chewing!!!).

Imogen slept from 7.30 until 1 am when she woke for a feed and then woke up at 5.30. I thought of your plan and sent in dh but it was quite clear she wasn't going back to sleep without a feed. Fed her and then she slept until 7.30 when we could hear her squealing and playing in her cotbed until 8 am when she finally shouted for attention!

LaDiDaDi · 12/06/2010 11:30

Ooops! That was me with a name change for another thread. Sorry ladies.

sparklycheerymummy · 12/06/2010 20:38

HI everyone....just arrived back from hols in scotland so posting a quick message then getting back on with the unpacking!!! HAd a fab fab time with dcs....ds didnt seem bothered at all by all the changes and the lack of his jumperoo!!! He slept well...... 11 or 12 hours....until the mil (sort of) snored the bloomin place down. dp did nothing.....nothing new there so i didnt get a break at all but to be honest i was on a high from the fact i wasnt stressed.....ds hardly moaned all week and he ate everthing he could including naughty holiday treats like ice cream cones.....chips dipped in curry sauce.....my lasagne.... and i even cooked some meals myself so even if he just had some finger foods i could find and a jar at lunch he still got a 'good' tea. he is having a big lunch and tea and a small dinner.....am going to make dinner more finger foods i think. he is tired and just wants me to do it by teatime. he is crawling now and belly flopping when he cant be bothered to crawl...... which is hilaroius...... he looks like a seal or something. most people who met him on holiday put him at 12 months which is funny seeing as though he is just 6 months today.....he is thinning out but is soooo long.....just bought him some 12-18 month clothes!!!

Alcrowley...... i am doing the same at times with jars and own food.....i figured its like adding a sauce to stuff like we do and gives them a wide variety of tastes!!!! ds takes jars cold too which helps and even takes his daytime milk cold now which really helps if i am out and about.

i have stopped expressing for ds cereal tonight and so will have cows milk on his porridge in the morning.....he is having ready brek and weetabix now which he loves and checked with hv who says they are fine and salt levels are trace as long as you buy the proper ones not shops own. will still bf him in morning and just see how long my milk lasts with just one feed a day and no expressing!

will catch up with everyone properly soon xxxx

sunshine......men dont think unless you tell them and give them instructions!!!!! but grrrrr at the possiblility of a lie inand you not getting it......dp slept in a dif room on holiday as his snoring mysteriously started again so he got lots of lies in!!

i am quite sad that ds is doing so much.....he is not a baby at all anymore.....he seems so much more tuned in. he plays peepo with his muslin and grabs my hand so he can make cowboy and indian noises with his mouth. he no longer wants to sit still.....preferring to jump, wriggle and want to be put down. he has always been active from day one which is why i am sure he has slept pretty well. and now i know why i got such awful sharp pains all the time when i was pregnant....it was him pushing and stretching his legs inside me!!!

i feel terribly sad he is growing so quikly. am glad i havent done much socialising really...... will start to now i think but i know he is my last and so wanted to be there for everthing at the beginning. anyway i have reached 6 months with NO PND.....some bad blues days and emotional days but no days where i felt i was better off not living or when i was sad but didnt know why. am particularly pleased as i have had no help from dp. and yes still managing a little bf at 6 months is ace!!!

sunshine..... he neverfelt like aa tiny baby.....starting out at 10lb 11ozs sorted that out. bless him he is fab and so much fun. just makes me think about having another one but i dont want to spoil a good thing x

wonder which one of us will be the first to have another!!!!????

hendo77 · 13/06/2010 13:43

Sparkly - lovely to hear from you and glad to hear that you had a lovely holiday. I agree with Lee that your son sounds like loads of fun! It sounds like you've done brilliantly reaching 6 months without PND and still managing a little bf especially as he is a big boy!!!

Imogen has teeth! I could feel one a couple of days ago starting to come through and today I looked and you can definitely see it. It's about a mm long still, but it looks like the whole width of it has come through and the one right next to it is there as well, but only half come through. Those of you with experience of teething - how long does it take them to grow fully? and does it start to bother them less once they've broken through?

ps I know not everyone likes football, but I've put apicture of Imogen in her England kit on my profile from yesteday - she seemed to like wearing it, although she was in bed before the match started!!!

AlCrowley · 13/06/2010 14:01

Hate football!

But love baby pictures She's gorgeous!

Thanks Lee - I hope you're right and that gives me hope!

Glad to hear the purees are going down well, I've heard from quite a few friends who bf that it gets worse before it gets better when starting on solids. I'm hoping the getting better bit starts soon though... I think my teething excuse is about to run out!!!

Thanks Al and Lee re the photo - I think it's my absolute favourite of her as she's grinning so excitedly in it and I am never able to capture that in photos usually!!!

Klerka · 14/06/2010 09:29

Morning all,
Hendo - what a cute photo... I love it! And it's great she's cut her first tooth too, I hope that the soreness eases for her now.

Sunshine - I read somewhere this week that once they have started some solids they will be more interested in milk too... I guess they are thirsty from the 'food'. Hope the rolling is going well too!

Al - Hope your nights have continued to improve.

We're ok here... I feel like the worst mother in the world - and SO embarrassed to post this but - as LaDiDaDi said - this thread has become a really good support for me...
and it's not so much that I am warning you, i.e. that I think you would do this ... but Holly fell OUT of her highchair on Saturday night. I don't really know how it happened. I had unclipped her, then released the tray - but thought it was still secure - I literally took one step and a turn to reach for the wipes and I heard her fall. She was face down on the floor. My heart stopped... she was so upset and I could cry right now thinking about it. Not a mark on her - she had slipped I think then flopped forward and it was on the carpet not kitchen floor. But, me all alone - DH at work - I called my sister in America for reassurance. It was awful. She stopped crying really quickly and we had naked time and bath/bed as normal. I left a note for DH to apologise and ask him to check on her when he got in. She slept really well - is now doing 7pm - 4am... then til about 6.30am.

Yesterday I was nervous putting her in the highchair, as if she would remember - but she was fine. I had to mention this accident even though I am mortified. Please don't think badly of me!

Hope you're all well.

hendo77 · 14/06/2010 10:10

Klerka, how frightening for you, my stomach went all funny just reading that and I can't imagine how terrified you must have been in that moment. Definitely not the worst mother in the world and it sounds like she was very easily comforted by you, so more like a little bit of a shock for her rather than she was hurt. I hope you had a stiff drink or some chocolate later on (or now!) to help you recover as well.

Thanks for the nice comment on the photo - her second tooth is almost through as well so by tomorrow I'm hoping the soreness will ease.

I have to say I am of your sleeping. Since reporting that nights were getting better here, the last two have been rubbish. I am blaming the teeth.

AlCrowley · 14/06/2010 10:39

We did OK last night, had our best night's sleep in ages. Catherine went from 7.30 till 3am!! Then until 6am then went back to sleep till 9am

Alex was up at 7 so I didn't get the last 2 hours but still, that was good.

I tried making her wait a while for the 6am feed (in the hope that she'll get used to it later and will wake later) but I only managed 10 minutes until the noise she was making got loud enough for me to worry that she'd wake Alex. The 6am seems the easiest one to change at the moment as I only really want an extra hour. It would mean only 1 night feed too.

Having her weighed today so will ask the HV about it

LaDiDaDi · 14/06/2010 11:33

Oh Klerka, sounds horrid. What a fright you both must have got.

Lovely pic hendo, got my new phone working (it's a bit too clever for me) so hopefully will get some more snaps of ds to put up.

Sooo jealous of you Al with your sleeping baby . Ds is still rubbish and last night, when I was exhausted and wanted an early night, dd was hysterical and wouldn't go to sleep for some reason. Kept demanding randome things and complaining that she was too hot/cold/whatever. I was in tears too by bedtime, and then ds woke up.
Starting solids and formula next weekend, will be abandoning my atheist beliefs and praying to any god who'll have me that he'll start to sleep a bit better!
