Lesbury is nice, dp's friends parents live in a very swish little development there. Alnmouth is lovely too and just nearby.

Stressing because cakes are taking too long to cook, might not have time to decorate before dd returns from her gps.

Claire236 · 06/05/2010 15:02

ds2 likes baby einstein as well. He will watch football on tv for ages too. dh is very proud of the football watching.

I noticed those net things on Amazon the other day. There's so many new products about since I had ds1. So many things, so little money.

A friend gave me one of those vtech walker things & ds1 is sitting playing with it. ds2 isn't really big enough yet but I removed the panel bit with all the buttons on earlier & he had a bit of a bash on it while he sat in his Bumbo. ds1 had one when he was little & I'd forgotten how annoying it is. Keeps saying 'peekaboo' in this really irritating tone of voice.

I like the sound of 45 minutes of baby einstein in doughnut - might have to get on amazon later!!!

I'm pretending a little bit of baby rice once a day isn't really weaning and more like giving formula (as she won't take a bottle!), but them I was also a bit tempted to buy some rusks to see what she does with them as that would be medicinal for her teeth

LaDiDaDi · 06/05/2010 15:46

Dp gave ds a sneaky taste of strwaberry fool at lunchtime, not sure why he thought that I'd not notice as ds was left with it all around his mouth!

Been out to vote and marched ds around the block to get him to sleep, he is now sleeping in the hallway and I've managed to decorate the top of dd's cake, second layer now cooling and gps under instruction not to return before 5pm!

Wondering what jobs I can do without waking ds up??

sparklycheerymummy · 06/05/2010 16:18

hendo i did the rusks for teet5hing thing today....well actually it was so i could enjoy my large hot choc in m & s cafe!!!! App you can put frozen cooked veg in the net things as a teether too!!!!

Am a bit ashamed but now have dd (8) and ds watching baby einstein AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

sparklycheerymummy · 06/05/2010 16:19

Ladidadi....cooking and icing cakes with a baby in the house...... are you super Mum or what!!!!

GoldenSnitch · 06/05/2010 16:31

For the first time in far, far too long, we have had the TV off almost all day today. Now you guys are tempting me back to the dark side

sparklycheerymummy · 06/05/2010 16:33

ha ha.......

dd is now playing with ds cos i am busy on here and ebay and facebook!!!!!

she can lift him and stuff now if she is sat on the floor with him!!!!

SOOOOO handy having an 8 year age gap!!!!

Claire236 · 06/05/2010 17:18

GS - Our TV is on all day every day. Even if noone's watching it it's still on in the background.

sparkly - I find a 5 year age gap quite handy as ds1 can be trusted to be left with ds2 while I have a quick shower or whatever. 8 years must be fantastic. Keep asking ds1 if he's big enough to make me a cup of tea yet but still no apparently. You have to wait a really long while before you get any return from children.

Well, the two layer cake thing was a step too far tbh! Thought I's be clever by decorating top layer whilst bottom was cooking but on transferring the top onto the bottom iyswim a massive crack developed in the top! I've tried to glue it together with more icing and hide it with jelly tots and smarties but I'm not sure how well it will work.

Claire - our TV is usually on all the time too. Its like moving wallpaper sometimes. I saw one of those guilt-inducing "every hour in front of the TV makes it harder for your children at school" things yesterday though and was trying to be good. We actually had a lovely time without it on which surprised me.

I think we can all be forgiven for using TV at the moment though. Very few of us are getting a full nights sleep and it's so tough to be on the go all the time for the bigger ones when you're so tired. Sometimes all I can manage is putting on a DVD just so I can get 5 minutes to feed Catherine without the endless nagging.

I'm sure the cake will still be delicious LaDiDaDi. Even the most perfectly done cake is only perfect until you cut the first slice - then it doesn't matter what it looked like. I'm sure your DD will love it.

only used it a few times!!
i threw the instructions away and mine is from america as a freinds got me it!!

sparklycheerymummy · 06/05/2010 18:00

i am dreaming of cake....have lost 9lbs in weight though so going to be good xxx

hendo77 · 06/05/2010 18:33

wow sparkly - 9lbs is brilliant. I must try harder!

I tend to turn the tv off as much as possible now as Imogen otherwise gets transfixed by it and it distracts her from whatever else she is doing. I find it a lifesaver later on in the day though. She is quite funny at the moment as she talks and smiles at people when they have close head shots and are talking - her current favourites have been Nick Clegg, the man that does the travel on BBC Breakfast and Tim Lovejoy on Something for the Weekend!!! Such a flirt... .

sparklycheerymummy · 06/05/2010 20:01

thanks hendo but my fella has lost 22lb at slimming world and i cant have him being slimmer than me!!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 06/05/2010 20:46

Jake had one of those net things! His favourite thing in it was cold melon, it was really easy to ram as much in as possible to make it quite "sturdy" it then made an excellent teether.

Went out and voted when I picked Jake up from nursery. We then went to McDonalds so he could get one more of those sodding dragons, luckily it was one he didnt have he now has 4 of the buggers and they are his favouritist things ever ever ever.

Kingsroadie · 06/05/2010 21:04

That's really interesting about the food net thing - I had been looking at them in Peter Jones and wondering whether it was really just a complete gimick although I suspected it could be qute useful. will go and get one next time I go to collect my new bugaboo raincover (mine came apart a month or so ago). Thanks guys!

Had physio yesterday which was complete agony and left with instructions to do various exercises every 2-3 hours. Did them this morning and was screaming in pain - nice. Saw consultant this avo and he said lay off for a week as obv in lots of pain so my body is telling me it's not ready yet - thank god - that level of pain was more than i could take! Have been dong bending exercises and now can bend knee to approx 30/35 degrees. Op probably in about 2 months and have a lot to do then.

Have been pretty down this week and was starting to get a bit worried about my state of mind but feeling a lot more positive now and my mother is having P sat 12pm-sun 12pm so we will have a bit of time alone which will be super nice (esp as he has been away with work all week).

Onwards and upwards! Have a whole new range of fruit and veg to try with P - broccoli, cauliflower, courgettes, potatoes, avocado, banana, papaya - my word what will she make of it all?!

Ooh and we have the tv on a lot. Oops! P can't move much on the playmat to etertain herself and gets bored just in her bouncer. Although to her credit she has been a little trooper today - she can now roll (even with cast), most of the time, from front to back! And tries super hard to roll onto her front although needs a bit of a hand to push her cast over that last bit - poor thing but am so proud of her .

cannot believe how grown up they are all getting...

hendo77 · 06/05/2010 21:27

I think the food net thing sounds like a brilliant idea - may well get one next week.

Kings - sorry to hear about the pain and hope it eases soon. Sounds like a much deserved weekend treat for you!

GoldenSnitch · 06/05/2010 21:30

I always figured the net thing was a bit of a sales gimick too which is why I never bought one for Alex. Catherine is chewing everything in sight at the moment so I think she might enjoy one though and as everyone else seems to think they're good, I might get one this time.

All this talk of weaning has got me watching her for signs. She definitely getting very good at grabbing things and putting them to her mouth and she's getting very steady when sat up, I only have to hold her hips now and she can keep her back straight and upright... She's fine sat in the Bebepod.

She's still not rolling but I think that might be because she spends so much time in her bouncy chair. Alex is always racing around and I'm paranoid that he'd trip over her. The chair seems safer somehow. Lack of time on the floor is probably not helping her learn to roll though.

Sorry you're having such a hard time Kings. I hope the physio gets less painful very soon.

Hope you can get some tickets Missy. Woburn for £1 is a bargain compared to the normal price. It is a school day though.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 06/05/2010 21:33

I have elizabeth on the floor all the time and she has only rolled the once (fluuuke!)

Jake rammed her head with his toy pushchair today. She has a huge bruise now.

GoldenSnitch · 06/05/2010 21:39

^That is exactly what I'm scared of!!

3 year old boys are not the most observant of creatures.

Alex barely missed standing on her haed when he was climbing on my bed this morning!!

GoldenSnitch · 06/05/2010 21:41

Please excuse my typing. I found 10 minutes to polish my nails and now I can't type properly
