Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sparklycheerymummy · 04/05/2010 22:02

meant to say i also express a bottle full which is either fed as a bottle or put on his breakfast.

the muslin things works great!!!! no idea why but do worry people think i am trying to smother him sometimes!!!

madmissy · 04/05/2010 22:05

Sounds bit like us!

Roughly its

7am ish 2-4oz
8ish peach and banana cereal with more milk added
11.30 ish milk 5oz and then some solids
2.30 ish milk 4-5oz
4.30-5ish solids
6-6.30 milk 4-5oz
10.30 milk 5-7oz

and sometimes in the night still

thats just rough guide though as sometimes he has more milk and sometimes he doesn't

i have introduced the beaker and slowly getting hang of it!

sparklycheerymummy · 04/05/2010 22:12

we have 2 beakers he will use....the brother max one and a cheap one from asda that has a soft spout....is taking water which is good but only an ounce at a time. we missed food at lunchtime as i was out and daddy took over. having food in him is starting to help his sicky reflux but its revolting if he is sick...esp after cauliflower!!!!

we havent fed in the night for a while and more often than not goes 11 hours but last night woke after 7 and i ended up feeding him (but tried to resettle for an hour first as he hasnt been having a night feed). so glad the doc gave me the ok to start weaning..... felt it was right for him but wanted docs reassurance. he loves sitting in his high chair anyway and have bought him a water pat mat thing from elc today which he loves. have a big fancy highchair but ds prefers the basic IKeA 10.99 one we got!!

madmissy · 04/05/2010 22:16

hes getting hang of small tommee tippee one but still chews more than sucks!

i couldnt be bothered with fancy highchair this time around (3rd dc) and you know what he loves his £28 babies'r'us one too!

our routine went to pot today too as dh had him for me this morn! men!

GoldenSnitch · 04/05/2010 22:31

I had an expensive Chicco Polly highchair for Alex that we stuck in the loft when he outgrew it. Going to have to get it back down again soon so I can wash it ready for Catherine.

My Mum's got one of those super cheap Ikea ones at her house and that's more than adequate - and easier to clean too! Wish I'd known that before we bought the Polly. Still, at least it's lasted for both children.

sparklycheerymummy · 04/05/2010 22:48

we bought the IKEA one as ds liked sitting in a similar one hte other day and Grandma is going to have which ever one we dont keep. its fab and i have just popped a little cushion behind him for now. the big posh fisher price one was given to us so fortunately havent wasted any money!!!

yeh think men just like to put their own stamp on things and do it their own way!!!

I'm still here too, just constantly lurking with no time to post!

Fizzy's doing well, last week she did 8 days of 9pm-9am which was great but the last few nights have gone a bit awry. She might be getting ill though, DD2 has got chickenpox (started yesterday) so Fizzy will probably get it too, and DD1.

I've bought her a BabyDan highchair (cheper version of the tripp trapp) which she likes to sit in but I haven't really started weaning her, I'm trying to wait till 6 months and hopefully bypass the mush stage. She did have a tasta of bread2 days ago though, she was sitting at the table with us at lunchtime and looked really interested so I gave her a piece of crust just to hold but she had a good suck on it. She looked pretty pleased with herself but I haven't given her anything else since.

We have no routine to speak of, she feeds about every 3.5-5 hourse during the day and does a long sleep at night (9-12 hours usually) so we're getting there slowly.....

Oh, and I think she's about 16.5lbs which means she's more than doubled her birth weight already which is brilliant considering it took more than a month to regain her lost weight in the beginning. She's just going in to age 6-9 month clothes too which isn't too suprising as she was in 3-6 at 8 weeks, she's not really fat, just very long!

GoldenSnitch · 05/05/2010 08:03

Catherine's so teeny. She was 10lbs 13ozs last weigh in!!

madmissy · 05/05/2010 09:36

awww but at least you still have her a teeny baby! i mean i'm having to get 9-12 months bits fgs! scary stuff!

my best mate just had a baby girl you forget how teeny they are!

very pleased to say i wasn't broody!!

BexJ78 · 05/05/2010 09:39

Hendo, We will probably be starting BLW at about the same time then. Anna is 6 months on 13 June (sob, sob, where has the time gone?!)

Glad it's not just us who have the over the face thing!

Need to get anna weighed but i am always busy on wednesdays, which are the day our clinic is open.

Claire236 · 05/05/2010 10:17

ds2 is 14lbs 10ozs. I've started weaning but haven't given him water or cups yet as he's started slipping off the weight chart before we started weaning. He's back on track now though so going to try him with water next week. I only like to change one thing a week & this week I've added in breakfast. Our routine is roughly:

0730 Breakfast (fruit) & 3-4ozs ff
1100 Solids (veg) & 3-4ozs ff
1400 ff 4-5ozs
1700 Solids (fruit) & 3-4ozs ff
2000 ff 6-7ozs
2300 ff dreamfeed 5-6ozs

Have bought some baby cereal but not giving him that until he's 6 months as it contains milk & gluten.

ds2 is another muslin & bib chewer. I find that if he wakes in the night he'll sometimes settle if he's given a muslin to snuggle. If that doesn't settle him then I'll give him a bottle but about 5 out of 7 nights he goes from about 2130 until I wake him at 0730. I'm having to adjust his routine to get us out of the house in time for when I go back to work in 4 (gulp) weeks.

We've got a Chicco Polly Magic highchair which I bought as it can be used from birth so ds2 sits at the table with us when we have dinner. Although he doesn't like watching people eat if he isn't these days hence starting weaning when we did. It was expensive but because it adjusts in every way imaginable we'll be using it right up until he's big enough to sit at the table on a chair all by himself.

He definitely seems to be growing far too quick for my liking. Being my last baby I want him to stay a baby as long as possible whereas with ds1 I was desperate to get to each new stage.

Hello ladies, been lurking a fair bit and keep meaning to post, but by the time i get round to it, one of the DC,s need something!

Ellis is coming on lovely, rolling around on the floor, babbling away, says 'Baba' and 'mama'. I want the baby stage to last forever, he is so lovely, cuddly and smiley, he weighs 18lb 4oz, got him weighed last week.
Have just started weaning, he loves sweet potato and butternut squash, not so keen on parsnip-the face he pulled when i tried feeding him it!
We still have some night wakings, thankfully only once a night, he goes down at 7pm, normally wakes hungry anywhere between 2 and 5, feeds then straight back to sleep til beyween 7-7.30.

hope everyone well x

anniebigpants · 05/05/2010 14:17

another baby who likes covering his face when he sleeps! he has a Taggie blanket which he puts completely over his face when hes trying to get to sleep, i move it off and next time you look its back again!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 05/05/2010 14:27

Yay I knew my comment would get the lurkers posting!

I also had one of those chicco highchairs with Jake.
He nearly burnt the flat down with it though.

(detatchable tray thing left on cooker, which at the time was a stand alone electric one. He was fascinated with turning the knobs the next thing I knew the kitchen was full of awful acrid smoke and I was having to evacuate myself, Jake and the dog all the while crying downt he phone to my dad to come and help me!! Wasnt one of my finest moments! )

Going on holiday soooon. Cabin thing in Devon. I have bought a little stroller just to use for the week because the big 3 wheeler takes up to much room even in a bmw estate!
Hopefully she'll be ok in it.

Hi everyone - sorry have been off the radar for a bit - life just is getting on top of me at the moment! Lee - thanks - I was just thinking how i needed to post!

P had her op last Tues - It went well- mostly. She was asleep on me when they put her to sleep so much much better than crying and sad... but then when she woke up and we went to get her from recover her left leg went bright red and swelled up, then i noticed her arm and then her other leg so I was petrified and thought she was having an allergic reaction and was actually going to die. I have never been so scared and felt so helpless. They had never seen it before either and no one was tellng us anything, she was screaming and we were all just watching to see what happened. of course she wouldn't calm down until she had milk and her leg started to go down again so it was okay and we gave her some milk. anyway leg was still purple later that eve so dr came back and said he had no idea why and to monitor it at home - so came home last night and oddly she slept all night! I thought she'd wake for food etc. Anyway needless to say I was awake and checking every hour and. God i was just so scared...

Leg was purplish for a bit so we took her back to hospital the next night to get it checked and dr cut the cast back a bit. Anyway the whole thing is going super well - her hip is very stable now and she could even have gone into the brace now but dr put plaster back on for 6 weeks to be safe. It is now only to her knees so she can move her legs more which is good.

I went to physio for the first time today which is set to be long and tiring - am supposed to do exercises without my brace every few hours - how?! My op probably in about 2 months although seeing consultant tmrw so will find out. Then ntensive physio afterwards for at least 6 months. Great. Apparently it is unlikely I will ski next season, which has really upset me. ARGH.

To top it off I am ill - have had a horrid fluey coldy thing since sunday and hubby is away in Rome all week (not that it would be any different if he were here with his hours) so all I want to do is sleep - and even if P has a nap I now have to do exercises or tidy up etc. BORING.

So have been pretty down recently about it all which I why I haven't really posted - feeling too sorry for myself and didn't want to bore you with my miserable rantings

P is loving weaning and sleeping all night still which is good although she has taken to waking at about 5:45 for her first feed - NOT good. Although she goes back until about 8.

Madmissy - Perhaps that 10:30 feed could be dropped now? Then the frst morning feed would increase? That's what P did - she was taking less first thing and seems fast asleep at 10:30 so I decided after about 2 weeks of weaning to just drop it and she slept right through!

Our timings are - milk feed 6-7oz at 6am (and that is a huge feed for her)
porridge and fruit at 9am
Lunch - 4-5oz milk plus 2/3 cubes veg, possibly 1 fruit at 12pm ish
milk - 5oz generally at 2:30/3pm
dinner - 5pm - baby rice and fruit, possibly 1 cube veg
milk feed at bedtime - 5/6oz usually.

She weighed 15lbs at nearly 22 weeks so is gaining well (40th centile approx) but is still being quite sick with the reflux despte the food!

Sorry for enormous post and glad to hear everyone is getting on well!

madmissy · 05/05/2010 19:26

Thats uber scary I was sat here thinking I will drop that feed now.....
So yes I will see how that works! Thanks

You will have to feel me in on the ops? glad she is ok, but how scary

ABF

we are going to devon in august and I can't wait!
my uncle lives there and is renovating a huge farmhouse 5-6 days we are going for

talking of pushchairs what did we all end up with?

GoldenSnitch · 05/05/2010 19:42

ABF, my MIL was so desperate to take Catherine out for a walk at the weekend (while we were at her house and didn't have our buggy) that she ended up using her cheap Mothercare stroller. It didn't recline very far but we wrapped up Catherine in a blanket and strapped her in and she was fine even when she fell asleep. Maybe try getting a head hugger just to give her a little more support? If nothing else, it'll stop her falling over sideways if she falls asleep

We ended up with a P&T Sport as it was the only double that would fit in the boot of my little car. I absolutely love it though, sooo much better than my old Silvercross 3D. I keep finding myself buying all sorts of extras for it

You lot have got me desperate to start weaning now. Can't wait to try Catherine out with some food. Going to see how her weight is going at the next weigh in. If she's still dropping, then I'll talk to the HV about starting at 5 months, otherwise I think I might try to wait until 6 months.

madmissy · 05/05/2010 19:46

do whatever you feel is right for catherine remember you agreed mummys instincts are best the other day!
