Scarlotti glad it went well

Fruit glad it was a mistake, you must have been relieved and frustrated all at the same time!!

Trikken sounds like a whole bunch of crazy rolled into a day Hope DS enjoyed his birthday meal anyway. And that you had a rather sizable glass of wine!!

Pavlov feel better soon

I have had a Really Good Day. So good it deserves capital letters

Now, my lovely bunch - I must ask your opinion. The girl I mentioned a while ago (ex's girlfriend) had her baby on Monday. Have just been looking through her pictures, and there is one of her asleep in her cot at home with a hat on, at the top of the cot, and it has a cot bumper on Should I say something? In a relaxed kind of "By the way, this has been pointed out to me recently, thought I'd pass it on..." way. Don't want to stick my oar in (honestly!) but feel I should...

ursigurke · 13/05/2010 20:04

sirboob, I guess you can say something. After all she wanted your help, so is probably happy of advice coming from you.

Pavlov · 13/05/2010 20:22

fruit omg what a numpty health visitor! all that stress and worry, and changing of food style, for absolutely nothing. I am amazed your own HV did not suggest you go back in straight away anyway, I think I would be like 'this is very unusual, he seemed to be putting on weight fine, then not, and he is in big clothes, and chunky, lets check the scales are working and go from there?' or something. And how patronising about what to feed, and when they should sleep through the night! yes, because he is a robot, that will work. Anyway, I am glad that he is continuing as he always was!

We have been out in the sun all day (well bear cub under a large parasol that was resting on its side on the grass) and he lay on a blanket and pushed himself onto the grass! He tried eating it. He also now tells me clearly whether he is hungry for milk - pushes down to my boobs, grabs at my top making little 'huhuhuh' noises, or food - he licks his lips when it is time for food, and makes talking noises like saying 'time now mama? yes? it is soooo cute!

trikken happy birthday to your DS for yesterday! And that your ILs were a pain. How annoying for you. BIL sounds like an arse.

Fruitpastels · 13/05/2010 20:52

Thank you ladies for lending me your ears. And yes pav the HV is a numpty!

scarlotti glad Ioan first swim went well. I'm not good with swimming pools as I have a phobia about deep water and can just about doggy paddle! I would love to be able to take both DS' swimming. Also glad to hear you're feeling a bit more optimistic about your marriage

scarlotti · 13/05/2010 21:38

Fruit thanks

SirB I'd say don't say anything tbh. The thing against cot bumpers is a relatively recent thing and many have them despite the info. Many people do a lot of things with their dc's that goes against the latest guidelines!
She won't thank you for it - suggesting to someone that they are raising their child 'wrongly' or doing something that might endanger their child (in your eyes) is like a red tag to a bull. Motherhood is a very emotive subject!!

scarlotti Is Ioan still in his hammock? We sold our one on Ebay last week. We got £90 for it. Very pleased with that!!

scarlotti · 13/05/2010 22:23

Fruit yes he is at the moment, he sleeps so well in it that I'm loathe to change him to a cot!! Will have to bite the bullet at some point though.
Great news on your ebay sale, I bought mine from there for £82 so am hoping I can recoup the cost so it looks quite promising.
Did you have any problems moving him from the hammock to a cot?

OP posts:
Fruitpastels · 14/05/2010 06:27

Well there is no rush scarlotti. As you know they can stay in them for a while longer. C moved to the cot without any problems. He likes to lie on his side and has taken to nearly sleeping on his front as well. But he is still co sleeping with me. C will wake between 10-11pm for a feed and he stays in bed with me until DH comes to bed and he moves C back to the cot. Then C will come back in with me in the early hours. I've stopped looking at the clock at what time he feeds. He is getting me up rather early around 5.30am. I could do without such an early start and then it knocks on to bedtime as C wants to go down at 6pm! I have an hour until 7pm to try holding him out. Not good.

I took C to a baby/toddler group yesterday. He loved the music session at the end. He was jumping on my lap in a very enthusiastic fashion. He's also adopted a high pitch scream - my poor ears!!

maman2tom · 14/05/2010 07:54

hey everyone just wanted to pop in to say Hi!! It's been ages since i've been on and i'm totally out of touch. Thinks are totally maniac with 2dc I just never seem to have the time to logon (i'm only managing now as i've just found out i can connect from work ssshhh don't tell)

So does anyone find life has turned into one long rush i seem to be constantly on the go (although its doing wonders for my dieting! The weight just keepings going down albeit slowly)

Plus i've just changed departments so everything is new...but looking forward to 4 weeks of training!

Oh and does anyone know when the bf starts to drop off... ds2 is eating like a horse but still wants about 6/7 feeds a day (with 3 between 10pm and 5am) i've seen no reduction what so ever!! What i wouldn't give for a full nights sleep

Trikken · 14/05/2010 09:58

hi all, yes Pav Bil is an arse. Tho ds did enjoy his birthday. it was a manic day but most of it was good.

What is the regulation about cot-bumpers? We have one on our's but she has only had last night in her cot so far. should I be whipping it off smartish??

Fruitpastels · 14/05/2010 10:03

Trik Not sure what and if there are regulations for cot bumpers. But I guess baby could get caught under a cot bumper and get stuck. And when they become more mobile they pull on them too. I had one for DS1 and whipped it off when I realised he was using it to pull himself up. I don't have one this time around, saves me having to worry about it then. Glad you DS had a nice birthday.

Trikken · 14/05/2010 10:08

Thanks fruit I'll take it off. I'd never thought about the baby getting caught under it.

Pavlov · 14/05/2010 11:44

OK guys, I am just saying goodbye for a while. Internet is about to be cut, any moment now, and Sky are being arses. So, will be down for a while. Probably quite a while .

DontWorryBaby · 14/05/2010 11:51

Pav Have you got computer access at a local library? So you can keep up? Hope you're back online soon!

Trikken The bumper advice was to avoid SIDS as babies can pull it off and over their face. I've heard someone else say as long as you check it's tied on securely every evening then it's ok. It's a personal decision I guess.

Maman Hello over there! Hope you're coping. I've got around 2 months before I go back to work (whispers, full time) so you have my sympathies and admiration! Goodness knows how we'll manage with one baby...

Raggie Best of luck for Monday!

Pavlov · 14/05/2010 11:55

DWB right now, god knows. Everything is breaking, no mobile (DH has his though) etc etc, its all shit in the financial world of pavlov. Lets just say the effects of the builder fucking up are going to last a looooong time. Along with DH not working.

at least I have some gorgeous children.

Pavlov · 14/05/2010 11:56
DontWorryBaby · 14/05/2010 12:05

Pav I know that feeling, coming to the end of maternity leave for me and some more income could not come at a better time!! Starting to worry about leaving Ethan now, although he should be with family 3 days from 5 so we can cope with that I hope!

You haven't mentioned the builder situation in a while, is that court case progressing?

Pavlov · 14/05/2010 12:10

DWB (typing while I still can! They said it has already been stopped, but not yet!) court case at the end of the month. It is at our request to ask for a change in direction as the builder is trying to shut his business and not playing ball with getting an independent surveyor as he cant afford it and we cant right now either, not prepared to spend any money we wont get back. We feel that technically, we will win. But in reality, he has no money so we will get nothing (we have lost probably about £7k in total. If we got back what we are asking, we will get back about £5k, but that just won't happen).

ursigurke · 14/05/2010 12:11

pavlov, I'm hoping you will have some internet access somewhere to keep us updated. It will be boring without you. And of course I hope there is soon coming money in the casa di pavlov!

DontWorryBaby · 14/05/2010 12:23

Oh Pav, rotten luck! As you say, at least you have two beautiful kids, extremely photogenic children I have to say! Hope things are looking up soon x

Pavlov · 14/05/2010 12:48

OMG. I am normally the one who is good on the phone. I have obviously taught DH so well, he has taken my phone mojo!

He just phoned sky, said what the hell is going on, they said cant see a problem, he said, well there is, they looked, said you owe money, and he said you can override that cant you? and they went off, came back, and said 'it has all been put back on for you sir'. wtf? oh well, i shall not even ask. I wont even beleive it, seeing as they dont know what they are doing.

hobnob57 · 14/05/2010 13:01

Sorry for stressy times pav and good luck for interview (was it raggie?).

I'm really struggling this week. We still have the screamathon in progress and I'm not dealing with it nor DD1 very well at all. Off to see GP on Monday.

Still, really looking forward to the double figures in temperature forecast tomorrow, looking on the bright side .

Better go and pick up the banshee.

Fruitpastels · 14/05/2010 19:51

Pav I'll miss you Hope you manage to get back on-line very soon!

Hobnob Sorry you've had a tough week. Is your DH home at the weekend to help out? I hope we get some of the sunshine tomorrow.

maman Good to see you back Can't give you much insight on when the bf will ease off. Are you weaning on to solids yet? I'm guessing once that becomes established then the feeds will drop. I'm feeding 3 times through the night. Sometimes I wonder if it's just for comfort.

On my own tonight. DH is out with the football team he plays in, they have an annual dinner. DS2 is in bed, DS1 on his way to bed. I'm going to sit and catch up with about 5 weeks of missed Eastenders! I'm looking forward to some peace

Pavlov · 14/05/2010 20:16

My internet is not off. DH called them and told them to put it back on and they did told me to pretty much eff off. But, for some reason, still no phone. I shan't push it...

So for now, my dramatic exit has turned into a lame sitting in the corner looking sheepish

scarlotti · 14/05/2010 20:54

Pav sorry to hear things are a bit pants

hobnob are you ok? It must be so tough to have I. screaming so much, personally I think you've done a sterling job holding it all together this long without cracking. Not sure I'd have done the same.
