Poor old denny DD2, hope she feels more secure soon. Has she said anything about why she is sad or is it just a bit of separation anxiety?

Things just the same old here. Where is everyone?

Denny185 · 24/11/2010 19:16

Prob is sep anxiety and as soon as she sees the jumper she KNOWS what coming Wink I did suggest to mum she goes in something different as they dont have to wear a uniform this year but mum response was well she will just have to get on with it she cant get her own way all the time - point well made I thought so we have decided just to persevere. Although I did think on the day I drop of I might just start putting the jumper on when we get to school instead of at home. I think the nursery school teachers think Im a right heartless bitch as I go in hang coat up kiss her goodbye and wish them luck and walk away to leave them to deal with a screaming mess.

Hope Sams cough gets better.

No im a celebrity tonight - booo

SuperSoph73 · 26/11/2010 15:10

Denny - I'm sure they don't think that. I know that our Nursery teachers here wish there were more parents like you. We literally have to escort the parents off the premises at the beginning of term and their little buggers darlings won't shut up until they're actually gone ... it gets very load round here in September!

The doc decided not to give Sam antibiotics because his breathing sounds fine and he doesn't have a fever or any other symptoms. He has to go back next week just so she can listen to his chest and make sure nothing's changed.

We are very proud of him at the moment because he's been feeding himself at Nursery. Not his starter (soup) but his main course & his dessert .... bless his little cottons :o

DS1 swallowed a tooth today. He's been OK about it though and I did tell him that we'd write a note for the tooth fairy and put that under his pillow. I'm definately not waiting till it comes out ... bleurgh!!

Am going to dinner with friends tomorrow night and staying overnight at a friends house ... can't wait :o

SuperSoph73 · 26/11/2010 15:10

"very load" I meant loud obviously. Oh Friday brain :o

Denny185 · 27/11/2010 17:41

new boiler fitted fri, not working properly, thet cant get out till monday, snow and minus degrees. bbbbbrrrrrrr, bit chilly

EllieG · 29/11/2010 11:52

Ugh I hate all this cold.....am moving to live next to you soph.

denny - honestly I think nursery staff prefer it that way, and it's bettwe IMO for the child if goodbyes are loving but brief, as the child learns that Mummy leaves them with people who can distract and comfort them, and knows you'll come back. Mol's nursery say to do it that way as makes it easier to comfort the child than if parent is hanging on, and the separation is just more drawn out and painful that way. They used to take photos of her for me enjoying herself about 2 mins after I had gone, the little sod. Wink

SuperSoph73 · 30/11/2010 13:03

Hey there!

Ellie - you're more than welcome but you'll need your waterproofs. We didn't get any sleep at all last night as the rain flooded our house. It was a nightmare. This morning started out quite nice but it is now absolutely throwing it down again. I hate to think what state our house is going to be in by the time we get home :( However, at least we're still warm.

Denny - are you warm yet?

Has everyone got loads of snow?

EllieG · 30/11/2010 14:42

We had a smidge but has gone now and is just slushy and icy, ugh.

Denny185 · 30/11/2010 16:34

Hope the rain stopped soph

Heating still a prob, it works if we turn the water of????? Apparently one of the valves needs replacing, they will do later on in the week when they put a new radiator on, once a wall has been knocked down. IF the builder gets here as its snowing again, could do without it at the minute, I dont mind if we get snowed in the week before xmas as the kitchen will hopefully be fitted by then - famous last words.

back to work tom after 6 days off, think a flask of coffee may be coming with me

SuperSoph73 · 02/12/2010 14:51

Denny - sounds like fun. Fortunately for us the weather wasn't bad where we live so on Tues the house was OK. It's still drying out at the mo though.

Went to the dentist today with DS1. He needed a baby tooth out ... well it was highly embarrassing as he screamed the place down when the dentist put the anaesthetic in! Anybody would have thought he was smashing it out with a hammer. I'm now 80 euros lighter as I had to have a filling replaced - hey ho, what's money hey

LadybeenKissingSantaClaus · 07/12/2010 23:39

Hi ladies, LadyBee here in my festive garb, very pleased to see you again!

soph I'm so sorry that you lost your pregnancy, and especially that it seems to have been drawn out. That must make it more difficult I think. Are the wobbly moments easing?

Knitter, huge for you too - I'm really sorry. It's awful to have this happen. If you're interested in support while trying again, I'm on a TTC after miscarriage thread in conception. It's very friendly and we all understand the mixed emotions that it all brings along.

Waves to everyone else, sounds like things are rolling along - Ellie, your new job sounds like a big improvement.

So, I have no good news. Well, not the good news I'd like to be giving. Since I was last here I got tested for factors for recurrent miscarriage, and found to have Leiden Factor V, which causes clotting and can increase MC risk.
After a bit of wrangling with the consultant we've agreed that we'll treat it with daily injections and aspirin as soon as I get a +ve, so just trying to get pregnant...which is taking a while.

LittleBoyBee is good, we potty trained about a month ago, and he's doing very well the last two weeks he's had maybe 1 accident? Rare enough that I can't actually remember. I took a week off work to start him off and he pretty much had it sussed when he went back to childminder.

That sounds really positive, and I'm hugely proud of how well he's done. But for some reason I think it's coincided with some emotional anxiety - possibly because of the reward/praise aspects, he seems to have taken the idea that because we reward or say we're happy about some things, that we must be unhappy about others. So is quite concerned with finding out whether I'm happy or not, especially when I'm cross with him for something else.
I'm approaching this in my usual way - buying a ton of books and about to read and try to glean something that feels right for us. I'm quite aware that I probably say the wrong thing etc etc. so will see if I can get some alternatives.

We've also finished redecorating our 'upstairs' and moved DS into the larger spare bedroom, taking his old room as a smaller study. He's moved into a proper bed - and is very proud of his big boy bed and new room.

Work is busy busy busy. Have got big deadlines before Christmas, but tomorrow is my day off and we're going to a big Christmas 'Wonderland' with a friend and her daughter. Am looking forward to it - need an injection of Christmas spirit to get me in the mood.

SuperSoph73 · 10/12/2010 13:22

Hey there LadyBeen lovely to see you here. Thanks for your condolences. I'm doing better as the time goes on. I got a bit teary eyed the other day as I was going through DS1's wardrobe and found a babygro (0-3 mnths), but it didn't last too long. I hope everything goes well for you in the near future. I won't say anymore than that as I don't want to tempt fate IYKWIM.

Am really pleased to hear that your LO is doing well with the potty training. It's not something that we're even considering at the moment as it will probably be the last thing that Sam will be able to do. He has been feeding himself at Nursery and walks a little bit more every day so we are very proud of him Xmas Grin He is also making more noticeable sounds and a few words of Spanish are quite noticeable as well. He is one of the funniest little boys I have come across and cheekier than any other little boys I've met Xmas Grin I will put a recent photo up to show you all.

I am still trying to get to grips with this Christmas malarky. Every year's the same with me. I start early enough to get it all done and then sort of give up and have to rush around like a reindeer with a flare up its bum to get everything finished - nightmare!! We're house, dog & cat sitting for friends from the 23rd Dec as well so it means that I really ought to pull my finger out as we've got to try and get pressies round there beforehand. We haven't even got anything for Sam yet ... how dreadful are we Xmas Blush However, I'm sure it'll go with a swing no matter what happens Xmas Grin

SuperSoph73 · 10/12/2010 13:30

Here's cheeky face at Portsmouth Train Station

SuperSoph73 · 10/12/2010 13:37

Scorps · 19/12/2010 14:15

Just thought I'd say hi.... Mimi has got chickenpox, but Lacey hasn't Hmm. Boyshad it ages ago before girls were here.

I'm soldiering on, some days, some days bad, no boyfriend, but i do have lots of things planned over xmas, and i get to see my parents! And both my sisters.

Am struggling with the time of year - He left me in december, its xmas, L birthday......i dunno. Kids seem happy, but it's me, my guilt, my fears. :(

EllieG · 20/12/2010 11:07

Hey scorps! And hey ladybee!

Scorps - I was thinking about you and wondering how you were the other day. Glad you are OK and soldiering, 'tis a tough old time of year if you are feeling down, but you sound like you have lots of family time planned, and the kids will no doubt distract you. Poor old Mimi though - how's she doing?

soph - gorgeous, gorgeous pics of Sam! Is he going to be bi-lingual then? Or will you just teach him Spanish?

Ladybee - sounds like things are more positive for you now, that's great to hear you're getting sorted. Mol still not potty trained - it was a disaster - how did you do babybee?

Molly was in a nativity yesterday. She wasn't supposed to be but she wandered up to the front of the church when we were there and refused to leave the other children. Thing is, she was dressed as a fairy (don't ask) so there were rows of angels and my little cherub standing resolutely in the middle as a pink fairy princess. And even when the little children left she still wouldn't leave - the wise men had to walk around her to get to baby Jesus Xmas Blush

Luckily was very family church and no one minded, but I was still Xmas Blush

EllieG · 22/12/2010 09:11

Where is everybody?

SuperSoph73 · 22/12/2010 13:31

Hey there Scorps and Ellie, lovely to see you both. I was thinking of you Scorps the other day - your ears must have been burning Xmas Grin I can understand how it must be hard for you at this time of year. At least you're surrounded by your children and you'll be spending time with your parents. Keep thinking positive sweetheart and everything will work out in the end .... sorry, that sounds so corny but hopefully you know what I mean Xmas Blush

Ellie - sounds like Molly definitely isn't backwards in coming forwards Xmas Grin I can just picture her centre stage in her outfit LOL. Hopefully Sam will be bilingual but at the moment the Spanish is coming through first as that's the language he is most immersed in during the day. Our Spanish isn't good enough to bring him up using just one language and, even if it were, I would want him to understand English and use it if he can. There's no reason why he can't be bilingual it will just take him a lot longer to start talking as he has the two languages to deal with.

Well, it's the last day of term - yay! Now we've just got to get through the mad dash of trying to smuggle pressies round to where we're staying over the Christmas period. Should be fun Xmas Hmm Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year Xmas Grin

EllieG · 22/12/2010 13:33

Same to you!

And to everyone else of course x

Xmas Grin
KnitterInTheNW · 03/01/2011 21:39

Happy new year everyone!

We've had a busy christmas and new year, glad it was busy too as I discovered that one friend is pg with her 4th, due 10 days after mine should have been due, and another friend is almost 12 weeks with her 2nd. I'm still finding it really tough.

Gave potty training with George over the weekend, but he has absoloutely no idea so we'll give it a miss for a few more weeks then give it another go.

Ladybee · 07/01/2011 00:13

Hi Ladies
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well, I sincerely hope 2011 brings good things to all of us.

Sorry I missed you Ellie - I pretty much followed the Gina Ford Potty Training in week process, just not the timeframes Grin, she would say 'by now your child will be doing X' and I would say...yeah...right. But the general stages were ok, did a couple of days with me watching like a hawk and encouraging every hour to sit on the potty, rewarding everytime he sat and going crazy when he managed a wee in the right place, just saying 'oh well, next time let's see if we can get to the potty'.
Then didn't insist on him sitting so regularly just tried to get him on potty when I thought he was getting antsy.
Then told him he needed to tell me before he needed a wee/poo and reminded him lots.
Then it became more about rewarding him for telling me and childminder. We used chocolate buttons and sticker charts for about 5 weeks - I think I stopped the rewards too early (about week 3) and had a little set back, so then we re-introduced for 'no accidents' and he was fine.
He still gets praised hugely every time he tells us.

I've just found out that my childminder is pregnant. Due in June. I'm happy for her but it's such bad timing...I was hoping to keep some continuity when he started his nursery sessions but I think we'll need to get both a new CM and start nursery. Lots of disruption for him, think I'll try to find something asap to help the transition.

Scorps · 11/01/2011 21:23

Hi :)

Had a lovely Xmas and New Year, loved seeing my family.

Am also going to learn to drive Grin and will book lessons after my eye test on Saturday.

Feeling positive ATM, I'm not sure why, just rolling with it now. I think i want a boyfriend. Am I allowed yet please?! Am too fussy though so may be a while..... GrinSeriously though, am feeling good.

Do any of you live in near Lees? I don't thin kyou do, do you :( I'm going there in March for long weekend with my sisters.

SuperSoph73 · 12/01/2011 13:14

Happy New Year everyone :o Lovely to hear your a happy bunny Scorps and of course you can have a boyfriend if you want one, we won't stop you...... obviously we'll need all the details and have to vet him first, but apart from that you do what you want Wink

Knitter - I know how you feel. I got all emotional when I read that the Beckhams are expecting another baby Confused I can go for ages thinking I'm absolutely fine about everything and then one little thing happens and it all comes flooding back to me :( However, I am going to enjoy myself in 2011 and try not to let things get me down.

Hey LadyBee. Sounds like you're going to have fun!!

Did any of you have a look at Sam's school photo?

Scorps · 17/01/2011 12:51

So, he's seeing someone. Bad day. It will be ok though, I'm sure.
