I really think the trouble is that ds2 is a total telly addict whereas ds1 is more outdoorsy. Ds1 and his friends will go out and kick a football around but ds2, having been kicked out the door, will sneak back in and put on Cartoon Network. He also gets pocket money so chooses to spend a lot of it on rubbish. I would feel a bit mean if I didn't give it to him and still gave it to ds1 especially as he does more work around the house.

Scorps · 24/05/2010 21:22

I got broody today. How hideous is that?!

Ah, cartoon network. We like boomerang here! Ds2 likes to scooter as well, more physical than walking iyswim.

SuperSoph73 · 25/05/2010 09:04

Scorps - I did too a couple of days ago, but it seems to be dimming now LOL!

Ah yes, Boomerang ... DS1 seems to have moved on a bit now, he's more nickleodeon Both our boys are complete telly addicts but fortunately we only get one big sigh from DS1 if he's told to turn it off. He also likes going for walks and still takes his scooter out quite a bit. His problem will come in his 30/40's, which is what tends to happen to men in my family and in DH's. I guess if he keeps active he'll be OK.

chipmonkey · 25/05/2010 21:35

Scorps, get a puppy!

SuperSoph73 · 26/05/2010 13:12

LOL @ chipmonkey's suggestion

Guess what Sam's learnt to do ...... blow his nose! How clever is that? I thought that was going to be one of the things that he would find really difficult to learn but apparently not. It's not fluke either as he's done it 2 days running now .... no pun intended, hahahahahahaha

MisSalLaneous · 28/05/2010 13:52

Hello! Am terribly jealous of all you lot with unrestricted beach access!!

Not much to report here, except that I am TERRIBLY glad that it's almost weekend!!! R had bad chest infection with inhalers not really working, so I felt that newborn-tiredness-shattered feeling! Still, he's on oral steroids now and last night was a huge improvement, so here's hoping for swift return to (almost) normality.

I tracked down heard from Ellie, and luckily she didn't need op in the end. Poor thing, must be really painful.

Soph, at Sam! R doesn't get the blow thing - he just approaches with a runny nose and demands "nose" service...

SuperSoph73 · 28/05/2010 14:09

Hey Sal Glad to hear R's feeling better, sounds horrible. Sam's still got a runny nose but at least it's mainly clear now ... TMI

Pleased to hear Ellie's OK, poor thing.

MisSalLaneous · 28/05/2010 16:02

Hey Soph. Hope he feels 100% soon!

LadyBee · 28/05/2010 22:41

Evening all - so glad it's a long weekend. I've been having big battles at work, not personal ones just big big differences of opinion but it's been very wearing having to put our case over and over.

I've booked some time off though and have until next Weds until I have to go back. Hoorah!

We've been planning work on our house, got a reasonable quote so it looks like we're going ahead...eek! Got to start thinking about the details now. That, and planning DH's 40th is going to take some doing in the next month or so

B seems to be going through a good patch and I'm just trying to drill this into my memory for when the next difficult time starts up Oh oh oh, and my best friend had her baby! A beautiful girl born 1.5 weeks early but 7lb and gorgeous. I'm so broody, can't wait to see her.

ThePFJ · 01/06/2010 07:32

Hi everyone!

Just dropping by to give everyone a hug, and some home made chocolate brownies. Enjoy!

Will post again soon when Jack stops ramming books at me to read to him! Ooo-er!

soph - are you still on the dukan diet? I want to try it and wondering if is too hideous

EllieG · 01/06/2010 10:37

oh and hello everyone! Nice weekends?

I am fine, thank you - can type again hurray! Quite slowly as can't use two fingers but is much easier than doing it one-handed!

MisSalLaneous · 01/06/2010 11:56

Ladybee, good luck with house work. Friends of ours now redoing their whole house, and when I saw the work a couple of weeks ago, I was in awe of how much they were willing to take on. However, now almost done and it will looks absolutely amazing, so I'm slowly becoming very jealous! (Still, not enough to actually do / get stuff done here, although very much needed in places - the house looks like a building site on occasions as it it, and that's just with R's help!)

Yum, PFJ, chocolate brownies. Wish I lived in your house!

Ooh, and helloooooooo Ellie! So what happened exactly? Did you lose your rag and hit someone??

I'm cold today. Miss this supposedly summer we're, well, supposed to be having. R now asleep and I should really go and finish the laundry. Think I will go and make myself a coffee instead!

Oh, and for anyone interested in camping (pretend if you have to) - we got a weekend space (was cancellation) at Blackberry Wood in a couple of weeks! Whoo hoo, can't wait, it's my favourite campsite! Loved loved loved the bell tent the other weekend, so still in two minds about whether to take that or the Orchy. Now, if the weather would just improve, it would be ever so helpful. So. Please commence with your anti-raindances immediately.

EllieG · 01/06/2010 13:04

I don't know if I think you are very cool or slightly mad for having 2 tents, but am sure it will be fine. Am commencing my little dance as soon as no one is looking

I broke my hand falling off my bike, was very silly and quite embarrasing, but could've been worse so guess am lucky really.

I am very hungry.

MisSalLaneous · 01/06/2010 13:07

Oh, very cool of course!

(Suspect slightly mad in all honesty)

Owwww Ellie! Are you getting physio etc?

SuperSoph73 · 01/06/2010 13:57

Hey all. Feeling very sorry for myself here. We had a long weekend with lovely things planned and I manage to go down with a hideous ear and throat infection DS1 and DH had a nice time though Have just been to the docs and got some antibiotics so hopefully will feel better soon.

Ellie - yes am still on the Dukan Diet, although let it slip this weekend as (when I have been able to swallow) needed junk food as feeling so sorry for myself I haven't found it hideous at all and is very good for the morale. Give it a try and see how you go.

PFJ - thank god those brownies are virtual - yum yum

ThePFJ · 01/06/2010 14:03

I'll make another batch. With extra nuts.

OP posts:
SuperSoph73 · 01/06/2010 14:07

Oh lord PFJ as if I'm not surrounded by enough as it is LOL

ThePFJ · 01/06/2010 14:19

Mixed nuts?? Same here!!

OP posts:
EllieG · 01/06/2010 14:50

Poor soph. Have some virtual chocolate since you aren't allowed the real stuff.

Have you lost loads of weight then? I need something to work soon as I am just faffing around. But I love carbs so will be hard. And you can't have fruit either can you?

SuperSoph73 · 01/06/2010 15:16

Thanks Ellie I lost 3kgs during the first 3 days on the attack phase and then have lost another 1.5kgs over about 2 weeks on the cruise phase. I could have lost more but have not been very strict at all due to illness. Am going to knuckle down again though once I'm well. No, you can't eat fruit until you've reached your goal weight and are on the consolidation phase. Although you can have one of those Danone 0%fat yogs with fruit pulp once a day. Funnily enough fruit is one of those things that I'm really missing and normally I can't stand the stuff

LOL PFJ All my students are a bunch of mixed nuts!

EllieG · 02/06/2010 13:12

3 kg in 3 days! Crikey that's a lot. I have had eggs and meat today. Ugh.

SuperSoph73 · 02/06/2010 16:18

It is 43.5 degrees celsius today, no wind and yesterday the piggin air conditioning in the Library decided to pack up and it's not being fixed because (at some point) we're getting a new system . I am physically melting as we speak - aarggh! To top it all, DH's office is like a fridge as he's got brand new air conditioning - not fair!

paranoidmummy · 04/06/2010 07:40

Hi everyone! Just popping in to say hello as I haven't been here for ages so wanted to see how everyone was. Have skim read as on phone but poor ellie's hand :-( boo. Hope it feels ok soon, def not time to embark on dieting I feel ;-) I hate diets, just started playing netball again (old school I know) and that's really fun so maybe something like that when you're all fixed.

Hope everyone else is ok. Nothing much to report here, ds2 (my April baby) is incredibly naughty! He's been sent to test us that's for sure! But he's doing very well, speaking in 3 word sentences now, which is pretty good considering he only began to hear about 10
months ago. Ds1 all good but football mad and dd now nearly 9 months old and a lovely little thing. Much easier than her middle brother! Nothing else to report here! Ahhh yes, am going bk to uni in sept to train to be a midwife. Mad!

EllieG · 04/06/2010 10:07

Hey PM! Long time no speak - glad all is good with you and that DS2's speech is coming on well after his hearing op.

I'm bored of dieting and it's only been 2 days.
