Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MisSalLaneous · 18/05/2010 22:14

Knitter, I am SO sorry, but I can't meet up anymore. Really really sorry, got my dates and dh's a little mixed up.

KnitterInTheNW · 19/05/2010 08:30

Don't worry Sal! It would have been lovely to see you, but I've been guilty of double/triple booking lately so understand!

LadyBee, Ellie, are you free to meet up or are you busy? No probs if you're busy, I'll see if any of my old London friends are around. Actually does anyone have LadyBee's email address? I can text Ellie if she doesn't see this, but don't have any other way of getting in touch with LB. Ta!

chipmonkey · 19/05/2010 12:14

Hi all! Now Scorps, I told you you'd have no trouble pulling, didn't I? Take it slowly, if you're not ready, you're not ready so don't feel pressurised but wow! He does sound nice!

SuperSoph73 · 19/05/2010 14:38

Hey all, hey chipmonkey haven't seen you for a while.

I feel like poop I woke up about 3am and it felt like I'd swallowed a pack of razor blades ... not good!

Question for you. DS1 has a really odd rash round both his ankles, it flared up last night. This morning he's also got it on his thighs. At first we thought they were bites but they don't look like it. They're definitely not chicken pox so was wondering whether any of you had any insight as to what it could be. He doesn't have a fever.

LadyBee · 19/05/2010 23:43

Hi knitter I've got a mail address for mumsnet but can't remember it right now will hunt it down tomorrow and post it, but I'm still up for Saturday and will be bringing babybee. Sorry we'll miss you sal. Am on phone and supposed to be asleep, catch up properly tomoz

KnitterInTheNW · 20/05/2010 08:10

LadyBee! Yay! I hope Ellie won't mind me telling you all but she texted me last night to say that she's broken her hand (triple ouch) and can't make it to London... She might be having an op on it today so everyone send her lots of healing vibes-----

So, it'll just be the 2 of us and our gorgeous boys if that's ok with you? Our train gets into Euston at 11:15 (but is normally a tad early) so will prob be at Giraffe on the south bank at about 12ish, is that ok too?

G and I are off to work in 20 mins so will check back in this evening.

LB if you want to email me to swap mobile numbers or anything, my email address is katie wignall (at) hotmail (dot) com without spaces.

Soph, how are you feeling today? And how is DS1's rash? any better? He hasn't been running round barefoot in grass or anything like that has he? Just wondering if there was anything on the grass that could have irritated his ankles, then the irritation spread up his legs?

Right, off to get us ready for work... see you later

KnitterInTheNW · 20/05/2010 08:15

Actually we might be there a bit earlier, just found that several buses only take 20 mins from Euston to the right side of Waterloo bridge. Much easier than the tube too. Phew.

SuperSoph73 · 20/05/2010 09:24

Oh no, poor Ellie , if you speak or text her again send her my love.

Am feeling better today Knitter, thanks. My throat's nowhere near as sore and now only feel as though my head's full of tissues. DS1's rash seems to be going and, no he hasn't done anything different than usual. Maybe they were bites, who knows. Had to put some more savlon on this morning but the rash at the top of his legs doesn't seem to be bothering him any more ... strange!

LadyBee · 20/05/2010 22:14

Hello again - email address is:

ladybee _73@ hotmail. co.uk

no spaces. I'll drop you a line with my mobile number though. So I'll aim for about 11:45 at Giraffe, that sounds great - by the time we get settled it won't be too late a lunch for them to actually be ok to eat it.

  • B loves going to cafes, but I'm constantly buying him a meal and wishing I hadn't bothered because he doesn't want to eat any of it, might have to smuggle some sandwiches and grapes instead.

Poor Ellie!! that sounds incredibly painful. Ouch.

Soph, glad the rash seems to be clearing, sorry didn't mean to ignore your post, I read it. Thought about rashes and then realised I know nothing about such things and would have said something along the lines of 'maybe see your gp' which is not at all helpful as I guess that's something you can think of yourself .

Glad you're feeling slightly less rubbish today too.

KnitterInTheNW · 21/05/2010 08:06

Think I'll be smuggling sandwiches and grapes in for G too, I bought him a child's meal at Ask on Wednesday and he had a few bites of garlic bread and the banana from his banana split. That was it

SuperSoph73 · 21/05/2010 12:03

Hey there. LOL @ Ladybee DS1's rash seems to have cleared completely now. I've now developed a lovely cough to go with my runny nose & sore head ... great. May have to drown it with lots of wine terribly healthy stuff, tonight

SuperSoph73 · 21/05/2010 12:05

Ladybee - I've just seen your e-mail address. Does that mean that you and I are the same age?

LadyBee · 21/05/2010 12:45

probably

LadyBee · 21/05/2010 12:53

Just looked on your profile - you've already had your birthday this year? (sorry, memory like swiss cheese) - mines not til late November (think vaguely that me and scorps are around the same time, but of course she is a girl-child still, and I am, well, Not).

Knitter, maybe our DS's can share a banana split then - G can have the banana and babybee will gobble up all the icecream (he's such a piglet )

SuperSoph73 · 21/05/2010 13:07

Ladybee. Scorps is just a baby

chipmonkey · 21/05/2010 22:45

Hello people

Any word on Ellie and her hand?

I have been in A&E today with ds2. The GP referred him with suspected appendicitis but it turned out to be, well, er, nothing or a "virus" which to me means they just don't know what it is. Am still a bit worried as he is still in pain but they did say to go back if it was worse.

I may as well just set up a little camp outside the children's hospital at this rate!

LadyBee · 22/05/2010 21:23

Oh poor boy - it must be quite severe pain to be looking like appendicitis. How do they rule this sort of thing out? Do they scan them?

I think Knitter said that she hadn't seen her online or heard anything further so quite possible that she did have the op.

We had a lovely lunch - was a pity the others couldn't make it, but it did mean that we were actually able to carry on a conversation (in between picking up cars, persuading DSs to sit down, well..you know what it's like ). Babybee decided that before lunch was a good time to nap, which was odd, so was a bit stunned to wake up with company in a noisy cafe, but soon warmed up when G kindly opened an excellent tin box full of little cars. Got on like a house on fire after that, but the deal was cemented with G went foraging and came back with cake. Nothing could have made B (or his mummy) happier .

chipmonkey · 23/05/2010 10:09

Aw, sounds like a lovely day!
We had more drama last night! It was dh's nephews confirmation and we were invited to a party at their house which is only around the corner. I brought my set of keys but dh didn't. Then ds1 wanted to go back to our house to pick up some pyjamas for a sleepover and took my keys. And then left them inside the house and locked the door! So we ended up calling out a locksmith at 1.30am!

Ds2 seems better, but was still in some pain last night. I gave him something for constipation and it seemed to help for a while. MIL said dh had threatened appendicitis as a child but it came to nothing.

Scorps · 24/05/2010 13:14

have just come on here to boast about living in Cornwall with weather like this

SuperSoph73 · 24/05/2010 14:50

Hey all. Are you all enjoying the sunshine chipmonkey - sounds like a very eventful weekend

Well I have just spent nearly 2 hours at Materno. Sam had a hearing test at 11.20 - at 12.35 we still hadn't gone in and Sam had fallen asleep. Finally got called in and he asked me a few questions and then said that he wouldn't actually bother "testing" his hearing as he didn't want to wake him and to come back in 6 months time What is the bloody point in turning up at all if they're going to take your word for it ... although it's nice to be believed but really!! Personally I don't think he has a hearing problem but I'm not the expert!

And breathe!

Scorps · 24/05/2010 15:33

Chipmonkey - I got admitted to hospital when piglet was a week old with suspected appendicitis - it was actually a womb infection, but v similar symptoms. It mega hurt, I couldn't even stand up straight lol.

I am not a child anymore - I'm 25 and a half now you know!

Soph - god I would have been cross! Mimi has a physio appt on her foot on 11th June, will hav to see how that goes.

chipmonkey · 24/05/2010 15:44

yes, it's beautiful here! We went for a walk on the beach last night and it was like being on holiday!

Well, ds2 is still sore so we went back to the GP this morning, a different one. She now thinks he's constipated we we are treating it with laxatives and nurofen for a few days. He has been eating a load of crap lately and not much fruit, he has a very bad habit of not eating the fruit in his lunchbox! I do worry about him, he is a little bit chubby compared to the others and I don't want that to get out of hand either.

chipmonkey · 24/05/2010 15:47

sorry, meant to say, Soph, that is appalling! I would maybe ring up and see if they can fit you in sooner. Only saying this as ds1 and ds2 both had hearing trouble but particularly with ds1, you wouldn't really have known he couldn't hear well, except that he failed a routine test.

SuperSoph73 · 24/05/2010 16:12

LOL @ Scorps being "25 and a half you know!"

chipmonkey - unfortunately that's nothing, I've had friends who have waited nearly 3 hours to be seen. Whenever you question it (and believe me I spoke up today) you just get told that you have to wait your turn. They also see any emergencies that may crop up so everyone's used to it, just the way it goes here. If I think that Sam is having difficulty in hearing then I'll definitely take him back, but unless you get a doctor's letter saying it's an emergency you can shout & scream as much as you want and you still wouldn't get an earlier appointment. That's why his digestive appointment isn't until August as he's not classed as urgent!

Also we do have to take into account that there is only one hospital on the island which actually deals with kiddies so I guess it's not surprising really

Ah, walks on the beach, how lovely. I was going to take DS1 to the beach yesterday, but he changed his mind - strange boy LOL

Scorps · 24/05/2010 19:50

the half counts!!

Chipmonkey - my ds2 is my chubbiest, he's 5, I do worry a bit too but all together he eats well, and does exercise at school including football club and tennis.... It all helps I guess!
