Buckets sorry your DD is having such a hard time . I'm sure you will find a way to help her, though, whether that is via the GP or not.

Ataraxis and CC congratulations to you both on your achievements today!

Another vote for O&C and all things Atwood. are any of you readers on www.librarything.com?. It is a silly thing but it does remind me that as well as my retro 'tecs, this year I have enjoyed Miss Buncle's Book.

We had a brilliant afternoon - SIL had DD while DH and I saw the Oscar nominated short animations at Screen on the Green (cutest cinema). Just lovely. And even better, DD got an early nap and a run in the park, so was asleep by 8pm - first time this week.

pertelote · 07/03/2010 22:39

That first link would work better without the question mark

springaporesling · 08/03/2010 01:40

Yay CC and Ataraxis

DH just finished Girl with the Dragon Tatoo and really enjoyed it (he doesn't read much either so must be good). Primo Levi's books harrowing but definitely worth reading. I am currently reading The Glassblower of Murano which I am enjoying.

I wish DS would get excited when the calpol comes out - all I get is a resounding 'no' and then the calpol flung around the room as he knocks it out of my hand! I now have to mix it in with yoghurt or something otherwise it's worse than trying to give one of the cats medicine!

oopsandbabycoconut · 08/03/2010 08:09

Morning

I am with Singapore on the calpol front - DD sees the bottle coming and cries 'no, no' no' like I am about to murder her, she has to be pinned down to get it in.

RedLentil · 08/03/2010 08:36

What you'll be needing is DH's calpol song:

Hippo Juice, Hippo Juice,
Temperatures it will reduce.
Just like wallowing in the mire,
It cools you down when you're on fire.

To the tune of a Reeves and Mortimer song called 'Cottage Cheese'.

HTH.

hotterpotter · 08/03/2010 08:45

Excellent song Red

Feeling a bit thick-headed today after no wakeups from either of the DC, no one made a peep until 7.40am [hock] and didn't have to get up until DS started shouting 'mumee, mumeee, MUMEEEEE' at 8am. Yay for fresh air

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/03/2010 09:57

BOO

GladioliBuckets · 08/03/2010 10:02

LOL at R&M songs Lentil. Will have 'Remember the summer of 74' in my head all day now.

so i guess it's okay to admit now that anytime either of my kids is out of sorts i head straight to the motrin or tylenol. junkie...maybe...smart...yes, yes i am. seems to always work and my kids now ask for it.

ataraxis i'm in awe of you. i'm still scared to throw a party.

TS Yes they could start their own sorority for girls who like things to be done properly.

TwilightSurfer · 08/03/2010 15:05

Buckets LOL!

Ladies I have just realized I may have made a grave mistake in volunteering this Friday night for our preschool's auction. Thought it'd be simple to watch a few kids while parents looked over things... 62 kids between the ages of 2 & 9 mostly 3s, 4s, & 5s. Ataraxis can I borrow your bouncy thing.

GladioliBuckets · 08/03/2010 17:56

TS I don't think any parents will think ill of a large tv screen in the corner showing a Disney movie or something.

Whew have just finished an impromptu bake-athon. Made a quiche form scratch, then invented a strange baked omelette/savoury cake thingy with hidden veg in it (would be lovely in a cheese toastie actually) then I noticed the bananas were looking a bit squishy so I made chocolate muffins (with hidden fruit and no actual chocolate, just cocoa.) Ungrateful brats of course totally not interested in the first two (apart from Squirt who has been saintly all day.) My feet are killing me but I am tempted to run down the shop and buy some choc to melt over the muffins.

GladioliBuckets · 08/03/2010 17:56

Well, I say run but will be something slower.

hotterpotter · 08/03/2010 18:35

Am feeling your pain Buckets re DC turning their noses up at food. Cooked sweet & sour chicken for tea tonight, which DD has previously shovelled in but as she has not had it for a few months she has now decided it's worse than poison and refused to eat any of it my girl she used to eat anything you put in front of her but she is slowly getting fussier and fussier

Met MIL's new boyfriend today He is actually very nice and although they have only recently started dating she has known him for over 50 years! He is the widower of one of her oldest friends so a bit weird for DH as he has known him all his life, but glad to see the old bat her happy

oopsandbabycoconut · 08/03/2010 18:46

DD is a walking eating machine today, porridge, wholes slice of toast, a banana for brekkie, blueberries cheese for snack, whole avocado, tomato, cucmber, crackers and a few unsalted crisps for lunch, grapes/orange/cheese muffin for snack, 3 fishfingers, 2 roast potatos, a large amount of broccoli, slice of bread and butter yogurt and orange.

Buckets your quiche sounds yummy, I really should make one soon.

HP - I am dreading the day DD becomes fussy.

We had a lovely day in the garden I raked up a huge pile of leaves and DD love running through them and filling her bucket with them. I have dried 4 loads of washing outside, DH is getting a decent dinner. I am feeling on top of it inspite the chaos that is our house waiting for the builders to come in tomorrow.

TwilightSurfer · 08/03/2010 19:14

oopsandbabycoconut · 08/03/2010 21:11

Evening all

Dizz - nice to see you. Hope DH is safe doing the 'big thing'.

Pert - I don't know how she is so little, we very proudly moved into 9-12 month jeans today BUT she didn't stop moving from 6.30am this morning until I put her in bed and even then she wriggles in her sleep!

Are the rest of you off having real lives?

dizzydixies · 08/03/2010 21:17

9-12 I'm getting out the aged 2-3yrs although I hasten to add that these are twice worn already and shrunk through washage
