Mos - your lucky DS1 and DS2 getting upgraded. Never happens to me either. What was their secret? Hope you have a lovely time with them.

KBN - impressed at your DD's spelling abilities. Good attempt at Komodo! Zoo was good but cold - we arrived at 10 and left at just after 12 and I was gobsmacked at the huge queue just to get in - despite the freezing weather. Dont think much of the new night zone bit in the rainforest house but gorilla was fab as ever and Danny loved the animal adventure zone and pretending to be a meerkat with DH and DS1 in the tunnels - was v cute! Danny's sleep is also crap and he is drooling like a rabid dog and his bottom is going into poo-overdrive - so fingers crossed those bloody teeth break through soon.

Tulips - yikes that end of course assessment sounds tough. I know I've said it before but I really take my hat off to you studying with 3 DC at home - really dont know how you do it! Good luck with all the assessments you need to do.

Hiya - think I ca classify DS as offically walking now - even if it is a bit hit and miss. I've hardly seen him crawl today. Id I have anything left in my house by the end of the week, or if he isn't one big bruise, I'll be amazed.

He hasn't quite done the throwing himself down the slide yet but he has very little fear when it comes to climbing - and falling. DD was nothing like this, so its a bit of a shock!

Did you go to London Zoo Dinky? Fancy taking my 2 there later in the summer, but am a bit worried its still quite run down and delapidated (?sp). The zoos in Kent are lovely, but much more of a conservation project (wwhich I know is great) but DCs need to see animals they reocgnise - and Aspinal zoos only really do monkeys, gorillas and tigers (if you can find them).

Hope Spotty is ok - was on FB at the time so to speak

Have a fab time with DCs MOS. I never get upgraded ...but I often blag my way in to the buisness class lounges

LittleMissNorty · 05/04/2010 22:02

blimey....need to go and find my glasses

SilveryMoon · 06/04/2010 07:48

Morning all.
Decided to give Dinosaurs Unleashed a miss. It's £15.50 for each adult and I'm not sure Jacob would enjoy it tbh, he is still very young and may be a bit scared. I'd be really pissed off if I spent £30 to turn around the minute we got in.
I have suggested another trip to the Natural History Museum to look at dinosaurs there, at least it's free so we wouldn't have lost anything if it's too much for the boys.
I was thinbking it'll be quieter in the week, but it's half term isn't it?

dinkystinky · 06/04/2010 08:54

Fair enough SM - the natural history museum is great and even better, totally free Will be pretty busy being easter holidays but still will be plenty of space for J and L to run around in.

LMN - London Zoo is a little tired but is perfect size for little ones to wander round and some of the new bits (gorillas, animal adventure zone - where Danny was intrigued by the meerkats) are good. We have annual membership as used to live walking distance to the zoo in our old flat and are only 15 mins drive to the zoo nowadays. I've got some half price entry vouchers which came with our membership if you'd like them (valid till end of May I think) - FB me if you want them.

Looks like doing anything a bit special is off the cards. Dp hasn't even got dressed yet.
dinky he's now said he doesn't want to go museum because it'll be too busy but won't suggest anything else to do.

dinkystinky · 06/04/2010 10:47

at your DP for you SM. However, if you still feel like a london trip with the boys, how about packing a picnic (weather pretty nice today) and going to Coram's fields or Kensington Gardens. All you'll pay for is the train fare/bus and you'll get out and have a nice day with the boys.

hello all,
hope all ok with spotty. I think she is one of my FB friends but there are a few people on there who I know are Fab Febbers but I don't know who is who if you know what I mean.

had a fab time this morning. Its school hols so a load of us (around 50 adults and kids) went to a fab play centre in downtime Riyadh.

It has loads of different rooms to do stuff in. A massive central area and off it lots of little rooms, a girls and a boys dressing up room (girls had pink couches and dressing tables and mirrors with rows of rows of hangers with princess dresses etc) boys had ninja turtles and loads of other stuff.f
There was a little kitchen, a pizzeraria (and they could make their own little pizzas which were then cooked for them) A massive supermarket with play food, trolleys, tills etc and a massive soft play area as well as a climbing room, a HUGE sand room with a 20 foot dinasour in the middle and a karaoke room which thank god they avoided. A bit pricey at around 10 pounds each but was fantastic.

SM hope you kick DP up the arse. I seem to recall you have large feet Good suggestion by dinky ref coram fields. I loved it there

TulipsInTheRain · 06/04/2010 14:14

Why are we all shouting?

Just popping on for a quick break from tectonic plates and rock formation.... i bloddy hate geology, it bores me to tears!

mos, that playcentre sounds so cool! wish we had places like that over here

mumoverseas · 06/04/2010 14:37

who is shouting TITR?

It was fab, shame they don't let men in which is stupid (although it was nice to take my abaya off)

I would have thought geology was really interesting. I've always been fascinated about how earthquakes and volcanos happen. Maybe I'm just odd

dinkystinky · 06/04/2010 14:57

Its all coming up in bold on my computer too Tulips - v odd. Think its a technical glitch.

The soft play centre sounds brilliant MoS - glad you had a great time.

OP posts:
TulipsInTheRain · 06/04/2010 16:07

mos... half the thread was bold a while ago, looks like tech has been pressing the big red button again

the geology stuff interesting to read through once and get on with your life... not so facinating having to give a detailed account of the geological processes in effect hundreds of millions of years ago based on a few chunks of rock in a cliff.

the volcanoes are facinating but sadly most of it is far more mind numbing... I find it hard to care what the earth looked like 800 million years ago before there were even bacteria in existance

mumoverseas · 06/04/2010 17:05

odd, nothing bold here.
PT I imagine the world 800 million years ago is not unlike Saudi except there is lots of bacteria here, mainly in the toilets on the highway to Bahrain

So why are you studying it then if you don't like it

SilveryMoon · 06/04/2010 19:20

dinky I never think of Corums field and it is lovely there. i might suggest it to dp tomorrow.
We went to Syon park again in the end. There's a little tropical zoo there and we arrived just as they were doing a talk/touch session. Me and Luke strokedsome turtles and lizard things (gecko's?), Jacob was a bit scared. He loved looking at the fish and monkey's though. Then we had a walk around the garden centre and looked at loads of fish there too.
Then we all went and kicked the football around the green, was quite fun.
mos That play centre place sounds really good and loads of fun!

Over the past few nights, Luke has started getting really difficult at bedtime. He used to be ok, quick bottle and straight down, but now he really screams. I've been trying to leave him for a few mins to see if he'll settle himself but dp doesn't like it.
We went through this with ds1 and ended up spending hours on his bedroom floor every night. Now, I could do this with Luke too, but the fact they share a room is tricky.
Should I sit on the floor while Luke falls asleep in cot and keep jacob up until Luke has nodded off, or keep Luke in living room until he falls asleep in my arms? But I don't want to do either of these forever.
Anyone got an idea we can try? How are your lo's at bedtime?
I'm going to start a thread about it too, see if any new ideas pop up.

TulipsInTheRain · 06/04/2010 19:32

oh i love the science module itself... the geology is only one book out of eight and the others are all facinating... i'm more a 'here and now' type though, biology is my favourite area of science but i did enjoy the physics on this course too... chemistry was facinating but tough (i'm not very mathematical so find it hard going!)

I don't mind theoretical science like astrophysics but i just find geology doesn't hold my interest as much as the other diciplines.

dinkystinky · 06/04/2010 20:21

evening all - explanation of spotty's FB status on her post on FB tonight.

SM - not sure what to suggest. Danny does this too sometimes - I leave him for a bit then go in, lie him down, tell him its bedtime and shush him for a minute then go - sometimes takes a few attempts (or around 20 minutes) but then he goes to sleep. The sharing room thing is hard though - could J sleep in your room for a couple of nights while DP is away so you can try and crack L's settling?

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 06/04/2010 22:00

SM - is he teething? E gets like this sometimes if I don't put enough milk in his bottle and gets himself so angry and worked up, he can't calm down. If I pick him up he goes ape and throws himself about. I have learnt (the hard way) to give him a couple more oz of milk to get him to calm down and then assess the bonjela / neurofen route. E has had 3 molars come through in the last couple of weeks and another on the way. They take ages to come through and are very painful

We are getting through 16-18 pints of blue milk a week here between the 2 of them!

Oh Dinky - may take you up on that - I'll speak to DH and let you know - wouldn't want to waste them so need to make suer we have some time to go. Will be in touch - thanks.

MOS - that place sounds bloody wonderful. We need that sort of thing over here!!

dinkystinky · 07/04/2010 13:19

Would be a pleasure to help out LMN. Poor E with those evil molars. Am impressed at the milk intake in your house. We get through about 4 pints a week with DS1 having it at the moment (not a big milk drinker - just in evening prebed) and Danny flatly refuses to move to proper milk so is still on formula - given how little milk he drinks I rather suspect we'll only be getting through about 6 pints a week of blue top when he's on normal milk....

Have today off and took Danny for his first haircut - he was soooo good, wandering round and giving the staff in the kids shop where the hairdresser works lift me up signs and hugs when they lifted him up. Made me a very proud mummy. Am taking him for his much delayed 12 month jabs later this afternoon - now that will not be fun at all... DS1 went to Toys R us for first time with his nanny to pick his birthday present from her to him and its now his favourite place in the world. He wants to go there on the day off DH and I are planning to take near the end of the month to do something while DS1 is still off nursery.

SilveryMoon · 07/04/2010 15:02

dinky I love toys r us!
Danny sounds like a little dream

littlesez · 07/04/2010 20:59

HI guys! Hope you are all well have been hanging out at cloth nappy tree loads as its good for business, that my excuse anyway! I have a little online shop selling green baby products so I get lots of business from there

Also izzy has had a massive growth spurt so selling medium nappies and buying larges where did my baby go!

So whats new any new bumps yet? And just being nosey is anyone else still BF?

Things have really calmed down at work so I am a lot calmer and content. I am thinking of dropping one shift though as Izzy is feeling very cuddly at the moment I feel like she needs me a bit more

Izzy is an angel as always, still not cracked the sleeping quite but its better. She is getting there slowly with the help of no cry sleep solution

Really hope all is well with you lovelies xxx

katieblirdsnest · 07/04/2010 21:17

lovely to see you littlesez, sounds like things are going well. you sound very happy.
no new bumps that we're aware of although a couple of people are trying to sort that out for us!

the milk consumption in our house is just phenomenal now...dd has always been a milk monster and ds seems to be the same. i can't even keep up with how many pints i'm buying at the moment.

SM, glad you had a good day out yesterday in the end. i've never been to syon park but it sounds good.

has anyone ever been to painshill park, just off the a3? i pass the sign for it often and keep meaning to check it out.

dinkystinky · 07/04/2010 22:00

Lovely to see you on and see you so happy Littlesez. Hope your online business is going well. Am still bfing morning and night but Danny's feeds are getting shorter. He's a little poppet at the moment but very determined - he says mamamama when he want me, dadaddadada for his daddy and jesh for his big brother bless him. I really love them when they're at this stage. He's walking properly everywhere but still a really cuddly little fella. His sleep is still not great - illness then teething and tonight suspect will be his jabs (had all 3 at once poor fella - after his jabs and quick bf I pulled his trousers up and he toddled as far away as he could get in the room from the mean nurse who gave him the shots - and burst out crying again when she came near him again to say bye)

KBN - have seen the signs but never been there.

Hi all, just lurking really, never remember to check up on the thread but good to see you're all hear! Hope all the 1yr olds are well and will continue to lurk!

SilveryMoon · 08/04/2010 03:35

hi littlesez Glad things have picked up for you.
KBN Never been to Painshill.
dinky poor D re jabs, not nice are they. Luke's due his 13 month set next week. can't wait.
metalpup good to see you. Everyone is well.

Both the boys have been awake, now they are asleep and I can't stop thinking about their easter eggs i still have in the bottom of my wardrobe. It's really bad that I've been eating them isn't it? I mean, they have both had easter eggs, you know half an egg (or just under) every day since easter for eating dinner, and I'll replace the ones I've had but really, they don't need that much chocolate (and I do)
