smallone glad you are back.[hugs]

Iggly all mine have slept really well once they could turn over. C not there yet

HT it will be better when you get more sleep.Could you give DH a night off? and him give you a good sleep during the day ?

Last night sleep 7pm

Massive feed as I went to bed 11.30

Massive feed 2.30am [sigh]

5.45am massive feed

7 am awake and a feed so i could lie in bed a little longer.

Only 1 feeed between 11.30 and 5.45 so that is good !!!

Tonight I am going to feed as I go to bed and then nothing before 4am.I am then going to slowly push that time back to 6am (sounds great in theory)

I think I will pick him up and settle then put down.

I will let you know how I get on through bleary eyes tomorrow.

Happy Weekend x

I know most of us have unsleeping babies who are sleeping worse than newborns and we'd happily trade them in for sleeping models, but surely our babies have done something to make us smile. What has your baby done today to put a grin on your face, no matter how tired you are?

fidelma · 09/04/2010 18:25

so smilie, cuddles, laughs and lovely swim.roll on the sunshine.

bbq tomorrow yum yum

scout i love my Aga i love my Aga more than chocolate!!!!

Igglybuff · 09/04/2010 19:20

scout William has developed a fascination with the washing machine (when it's on). Today he sat in front of it laughing away as it went round....!

Just put William to bed. Poor thing hit his head when turning onto his front (he won't let me put him on his front!) so had to feed to sleep to calm him down. He was also trying to chew the side of the cot.... Teething maybe?? So something tells me tonight won't be like last night!!

HumphreysCorner · 09/04/2010 20:11

Am away in the caravan but have paid for an internet connection.

smallone-hope you feel stronger soon. PND didn't hit me until DD2 was about 9 months. {{hugs}}

Yes, was me that said M was worse with sleep now he is on solids. Don't think he will ever sleep through the night.

ruby-good luck with the sleep clinic.

Rode my bike for the first time in about 10 years. Was a tad wobbly.

Have a great weekend. The weather is lovely here but DH is not well so haven't done much. The girls have made lots of friends so still out playing now.

I am a bit shaky tonight after a scare this afternoon. Joseph was lying on his back when he suddenly let out a cry and started gasping for breath. I picked him up and slapped on his back a few times, smiled and reassured him but it took what felt like for ages for him to let out another cry-in the meantime he'd gasped 3 or 4 times, was bright red and panicky. Scared the hell out of me. Then he let out a big cry, a little milk came out of his nose and he was ok, smiling again within a minute. He'd had his fist in his mouth before and there is so much saliva so am not sure if it was that pooling at the back of his throat and he couldn't swallow or wind-a big burp followed 10 mins later. It has happened before but this was the scariest, I almost called an ambulance this time. Am going to mention it again to my hv on Monday.I have been told its quite common-has it happened to any of your dc's? I do wonder if this is at the heart of our sleep problems sometimes-he did it in his sleep twice at night when in my arms in the early months and I can't bear to think about it happening with him alone in a cot so I'm terrible at implementing sleep training. I've had a bit of a cry about it tonight.

Smallone I am so sorry about the pnd, hope the meds help. There is a great support thread in mental health (confesses to looking at it myself), have a look.

Calypso and fidelma DH and I were going to drop Joe at my mum in laws on Sunday for a few hours to have some time to ourselves, maybe it will help. DH really down tonight, he wasn't shortlisted for an overseas job he went for and these public service cuts that the politicians are talking about are worrying (he's in immigration.)

Calypso How did it go with the naps?

ruby Sounds promising, hope sleep clinic can help

HC Good on you for getting back on the bike!

HappyTangerine · 09/04/2010 23:14

scout re the thing that made me smile today. I often play a game with Joe when I'm carrying him of a sudden lipsmacking kiss on the cheek, then hide my face away before doing it again. Well today I did it and after a few times, he started doing it back to me-kiss, hide face. The interaction was lovely.

There is a horse in tomorrows Grand National called Joe Lively . I have to bet on it, would be rude not to!

littlepea72 · 10/04/2010 06:42

Hi everyone

Just back from Northern Ireland & settled back in the Fatherland again. Nice weather here Havent read many posts, so will get a cuppa & start reading.

HT what a scare! Hope Joseph is ok now

Smallone meds do help, hope you are feeling better soon xx

Faiths sleeping has gotten so bad since she has started solids. She is sometimes waking up every 45 minutes crying, sometimes with the wind, but its getting very tiring now. Im now up arround 7 times a night with her.

My DS has chickpox again (I didnt think you could get them twice). He only had a few spots the first time, but this is bad. At first we thought he had been badly bitten by an insect, but now the spots are everywhere, and during the night, he has scratched all the tops off, its bad looking

We bought Faith a walker, and boy can she go in it! At last i can be in the kitchen without her screaming after me, now she is flying around after me on her feet/wheels lol. Also got a highchair, but she hates it, and refuses to go in.

Joining slimming world on Monday night, everyone i know who goes there is losing so much weight! Happy Days!!

fidelma · 10/04/2010 07:52

Littlepea welcome back.Did you look at any houses?

HT very scarey.I would go and get yourself a baby breathing monitor. They go under the matteress and if he stops breathing the alarm goes off. That way you can relax.I think it will be worth every penny.(i have one DS used to hold his breath and passed out twice when he was little)DS would go to cry but couldn't let it out.He then would pass out.

Connor didn't feed during the night did I say that loudly enough.

CONNOR DID NOT FEED DURING THE NIGHT

he went down at 7pm

Had a feed at 11.45 (a late dream feed)

He woke at 4.30 am and hicked on and off for 15 mins, then went back to sleep

6.50am he came into bed for a feed.We dosed untill 7.30am

Mummy dances around the kitchen and makes a cake to celerbrate.[passes it round]

Igglybuff · 10/04/2010 09:53

HT yes this happened with William at 12 weeks. It was horrible so I understand how it feels it was what made us realise he had silent reflux as it happened a few more times until we got him on ranitidine. The doc thinks it was the stomach acid making him catch his breath then choking. Since then, I never leave William alone on his back, we have wedges for his changing mat and playgym and his cot is raised. However now he's older it's less of a problem. you were there which is the main thing.

Great news fidelma!!! I can report that William did not repeat his previous superfeat - one extra feed alas. But I thinkit was because he threw up one of his feeds in the day. In our case solids has improved sleep a little?

littlepea loving the idea of a baby walker! Must be great for F. However sending you sleepy vibes.

It's a lovely day here in London so will be getting out for some sun. Hurrah!

littlepea72 · 10/04/2010 10:15

Hooray Connor!!!! Pass that cake lol...

Looked at 3 houses, now for the hard bit!

princessmel · 10/04/2010 14:18

Hello

Lovely day, kids in garden, washing on line, dh plastering the playroom. It's looking fab

F slept from 8pm till 4am last night (right through...!!!!) had a feed then back to bed till 6 then fed and stayed in our bed till nearly 9 .Best night for a while.

Still no food here. Will do very soon though.

smallone glad you have meds. keep your chin up. {{hugs}} I had low points after both babies but much later on. with ds1 it was when he was about 1. I felt very lonely and restricted to the house for his nap times. He had to nap well as I had to take him to work with me later in the day and he needed to be on good form. I knew nobody else with babies either. I was the first from my friends to have dc's.
With dd I just felt so unbelievably FRUPMY. I felt so low about it. Then when she turned 2 and stopped waking in the night (yes, when she was 2..) I started to go out a LOT with my friend and felt a lot better about myself. In fact I went out so much I nearly caused a new problem then.

HC lucky you being at the caravan. We love caravan holidays. Not had one this year.
Will deffo do one next year or in Oct half term.

choking ds2 did this a lot after he came out of hospital. He has slowed down but last night did it and when I got him up at 4 he was wet, lying in his sick He coughs and sometimes its just a cough and sometimes it sounds like he's going to throw up, he chokes and I LEAP out of bed to sit him up!!
Scary.

fidelma YAY!

HappyTangerine · 10/04/2010 17:41

Thanks all. princessmel and iggly-so sorry this has happened to you too. Now have an anglcare monitor as per your advice fidelma but will also look into getting some wedges for playmat and changing mat. As he mostly sleeps on me, he's always elevated anyway at night but I need to make more effort to get him into the cot, even if just for naps to start with. When are they supposed to grow out of it, if ever?

Fidelma and princessmel Yay for you both, great news

princessmel, your post to smallone really rang true-thats an excellent description of how I feel most days . Glad to hear it gets better.

littlepea good luck choosing a house

Off to enjoy rest of this glorious weather x

HappyTangerine · 10/04/2010 17:42

grow out of the choking episodes, not the cot

Scout19075 · 10/04/2010 20:18

fidelma Yes please to cake! Mmm, cake!

Yay to both fidelma and princessmel! I bet you both feel like brand new mommies after a night of sleep. Last night Seb went down at 6:45, got up around 9:45-ish for a megafeed as I was going to bed, woke up again around 1:45 for another megafeed, then again around 5:30 for a mini feed (more for wanting a cuddle I think, though he definitely wanted milk) and then up for the day at 6:45. Not quite as good as you ladies, but still pretty darn good.

littlepea How are you now that you're back from N.I.? I find it's usually a day or two after we get back that I crash and want to go back home.

smallone Big hugs for you. If it makes you feel any better, I think we all (deep down) feel like that on any given day.

HT Big hugs for you, too, and hope you've stopped shaking after your scare.

ruby What sort of things do you need to keep track in your sleep diary?

Seb seems to really enjoy his eating. Every meal is like a new adventure. He gets so excited when he sees the pot and/or the spoon come out. Tonight when I was getting set up for his dinner, he saw the spoon on the side and immediately started stretching for it with his mouth open like a baby bird. I have to admit, food is probably the thing I'm most worried about getting wrong. I want him to have a well-rounded palete -- I've told DH he's in charge of introducing all of the English foods I don't like (bread sauce, Christmas pud, fry-ups (though, to be fair, I like elements of a fry-up), cheese, etc). I'm also afraid of over-feeding him. Seb doesn't seem to ever want to stop eating! He has yet to ever give me one of the typical "baby full" signs. I have figured out when he puts his hand in his mouth he's done, but he rarely does that!

Igglybuff · 10/04/2010 21:11

HT glad you got the monitor. I had a similar thing with William always sleeping on me - he doesn't for night sleep, just for naps now. We found it easier to get him in the cot for night sleep and put in him for the ocassional nap. Now, in the cot he sleeps as he does on me (arms outstretched bum in air). I think elevating the cot made a huge difference to him as when it was flat, he never lasted more than 45 minutes.

princess glad to hear the playroom is coming on nicely! And you got the all important Sleep

scout I know what you mean about worrying about food. I've just made a batch of red lentil medley, tasty But I was saying to DH that William will just end up eating what we eat when he's older anyway! I don't think I ate a lentil until I left uni?!

fidelma · 11/04/2010 07:40

Morning

Happy Mummy up here

C went to bed at 7pm

I did not have the heart to wake him for a dream feed, so I just went to bed.

1am He woke so I fed him

4am he woke but I left him, he quickly went back to sleep

7am he woke

Yipeeeeeeeee

Cake anyone ?

HT glad you got the monitor.I hope ypu had a relaxed night.

Scout19075 · 11/04/2010 07:57

fidelma Yes please, cake.

Seb went up/asleep by 7:15, awake at 9:45 but I was still awake so don't count that as night. Woke again at 1:30/1:45 for a mega feed and down again until 5:45. Had a mega feed, went down again but then decided it was play time and we've been awake since. Gave in and got up at 6:45. Will be knackered later, I can feel it already.

littlepea72 · 11/04/2010 08:08

Scout I think im feeling better coming back home Germany, as I know in 10 weeks, I will be moving back to NI to live (untill I convince my DH that we need to move to Montana that is ). But I will miss it here alot, you cant beat home. Do you ever think you will move home?

Faith had me up again all night long, but I did put my finger into her mouth, to see if she needed feeding, and I got 2 very sharp needle prick bottom teeth biting me back! They werent there earlier lol....so at least i now know what is wrong with her. Plus she doesnt want solids, so im thinking it why. OMG!!!! Ive just watched her rolling onto her tummy!!!!! Must go & give loads of hugs!!

rubyslippers · 11/04/2010 09:24

fidelma- am very chuffed for you that Connor is sleeping so much better

scout - sorry to hear about your early starts

PM - yay for Freddie's sleep as well

HT - i get awful migraines - i have tried all sorts but the best treatment is Maxalt wafers (they don't stop an attack but seem to shorten the severity)

HC - hope you enjoyed your break at the caravan

littlepea - boo to chicken pox. I know of three others with it - must be the season (unfortunately)

Iggly - so pleased you are getting a bit more sleep

Well, same old, same old for us!

Have been keeping a sleep diary for the past 3 days for the sleep clinic. Last night i burst into tears when she woke at 10. We had been out all day and she hadn't slept since 2 pm and gone down at 7 pm and she still blimming woke up 3 hours later

She had tofu and rice yesterday - and 2 mega poos

we went for a picnic with a big group of friends and their kids which was great (then a long walk round London and into Soho for some early dinner)

DS fell asleep on the train bless him

busy day again for us today so will pop back later

love to you all

x

PS - had a red velvet cupcake from The Hummingbird Bakery yesterday (they have opened a branch in Soho - deffo still my favourite cupcake)

Igglybuff · 11/04/2010 16:39

Hi ruby really sorry to hear things aren't going well. But fingers cross that millpond will help. I've been lurking on the misguided illusions thread and see you've joined. As W isn't sleeping through yet, I'm tempted but I'm in denial as we've seen some improvements. I also realised that William was too hot at night so removing a layer has also helped.

fidelma I hope C passes on sleep vibes to all of our babies!

scout I hope you're not too tired today and that Seb sleeps well tonight.

We went to the park today which was lovely! Now eating sticky toffee pudding

fidelma · 11/04/2010 17:04

Sending sleep vibes to you all.C has only done 2 good nights.

Mine have all got good from 6 months but not before. We are only just at 6 months.I am confident that they will all get better over the next 6 weeks. (well heres hoping)

my dc want to make some smiles so here goes.

[wink[

fidelma · 11/04/2010 17:06

WinkBlushShock

littlepea72 · 11/04/2010 17:32

Ruby I hope you all have a better night tonight xx

princessmel · 11/04/2010 17:35

Mine didn't get good (at sleeping through) till they were 2, almost to the day.
I think we need to ditch the wholw sleeping through goal and aim for a half decent night! 1 wake when he goes straight back to sleep after a feed is good in my book. Last night he slept 8pm till 3am but then was awake and gurgling/feeding etc till 4.30. !!!

Dishwasher broken today, also the zip on my spring parka.

We gave F some banana at lunch today and he did ......nothing with it!!! He just dropped it! Then I put some on his lips and he just made a face! So I gave him some mushed on a spoon and he kept backing away from the spoon and clamping his mouth shut He's in no rush for anymore!
It's funny as he usually puts everything in his mouth but when he was holding the loaded spoon he didn't put it to his mouth once!

ds1 just been sick after a dad at the park swung him round really fast on the tyre swing .
