This was the only thing I could remember some saying should be the next title!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Veggiemummy · 09/03/2010 20:30

Forgot to say Spot, I think it's a good idea to give it a couple of years then if you go back you aren't giving up on Brighton you just experienced a few years living by the sea. It's harder with kids. If it were just you two you could easily pop back and forth to London (much like our LadyT & O). But also in a way it is nicer with kids because it makes you settle were you are. I think you'll feel different I the summer when your friends are begging to come visit you by the sea.

WG I think you did brilliantly. That pain is teeny tiny tears in your muscle, when they repair the muscle will be stronger and a little bit bigger. Make sure you let your legs rest at least one day after each run, muscle only grows when you are resting.

Beans a sprint Tri is a great way to get fit again. Also it's nice to share an interest like that with DH.

Veggiemummy · 09/03/2010 20:31

Sorry about the headache Daisy.

Turniphead1 · 09/03/2010 20:47

Catching up - JJ - so sad to hear about the chap from your Church. It seems extra unfair when there are little ones left behind who needed their Daddy. Should make us all think.

beans hope pick up from the silly nanny share people was OK and the whizz's excema improves. What do you use for it?

WG well done on your run! I need to start running as I am doing 3.2 miles of a marathon at the start of June. I know that sounds a pitiful amount but I basically have a fully knackered hip - it is due to be replaced in fact - so for me will be a challenge. Need to get started - maybe we could run together? (although you will prob be much better than me!)

Kiwi hope you told this person who was hassling you to wind their neck in.

Sybs fingers crossed there was no tape in the camera.

Daisy so pleased about your new neice. As you say, can be the boost you all need at the moment.

Trace be kind to yourself my love.

Invis - yikes how exciting about the job. I know you will make the right decision and its great your DH is supportive. meant to ask you - your BiL is he at the German bank or the Canadian Bank? Dh isn't sure who I mean (I was slightly squiffy when we talked about this so can't remember if they worked together BEFORE DH moved jobs....)

I am off for an early night as DH and I are off to see the Stereophonics at the 02 Centre tomorrow evening. How exciting!!

Turniphead1 · 09/03/2010 20:49

oh and spot as others say I am sure Brighton will come into its own in due course and you will be very glad not to be stuck in the Smoke. But I hear you on the friends issue.

Veg hope you get some more rest and DS2 is improving. Did you buy anything nice in the lingerie shope?? As WG said I think on FB, there is no day that can not be improved by the purchase of a new bra!!

Veggiemummy · 09/03/2010 21:04

2 bras a black one which I purchased 2 pairs of matching undies for and a lovely multicoloured one which I bought with one matching pair of undies. They are a really good brand but were all 70% off. The undies should have been Ã?Â?9.99 each and the bras Ã?Â?19.99 each but I got the whole lot for Ã?Â?21! Unfortunately I was 5 mins late to pick up DS1 but felt it was a necessary sacrifice.

Veggiemummy · 09/03/2010 21:05

Why won't my euro symbol work?

Are you there Kayz?

Veggiemummy · 09/03/2010 21:07

Turnip, a new hip?

Turniphead1 · 09/03/2010 21:27

Great value on the undies! well worth a small delay!
Yup I was born with a congenitally dislocated hip - not diagnosed til 2 so have had loads of surgery on it etc and it's totally knackered. My consultant wants me to hang on another 2 years if I can before doing the op - and it has to be a full replacement rather than a hip resurfacing. It annoys me because it limits my exercise - and I get a lot of referred pain in my knee and back because I am so gimpy. But as we have seen from JJ's post there are a heck of a lot of worse things to be dealing with in one's life.
On the more interesting side, my consultant is a post-operative transsexual. She was the first person who had fully changed sex that I had met. And when she was a he, she did the Queen Mum's hip replacement....so there you are!

Veggiemummy · 09/03/2010 21:46

Wow that's interesting. Um how did you find out? That's not something that would normally come up in a consult. Sorry about your hip, that is pretty bad form by the HP's 25 years ago.

Veggiemummy · 09/03/2010 21:49

Oh does that mean she had the royal seal on her door?

waitinggirl · 09/03/2010 23:26

turnip - a girl on my MA course was a post-op transgendered lady. before we all knew for sure, rumours abounded. i just thought she had hormone problems. quite strange. as a girl she is quite butch - however as her final project, she showed some film footage of her as a bloke - and i was so shocked. he was my (teenage) idea of the perfect man - a sort of merchant ivory sort of man (rupert graves/hugh grant/james wilby type) with the most beautiful voice. she then showed footage of her post-op doing a parachute jump - it was one of the most moving things i've seen.

oh, and... we could try running together one night of the week/weekends in f park? let's consult on fb.

EffiePerine · 10/03/2010 09:31

I am here reading but my phone keeps eating posts!

Just wanted to say Veggie: you may well find your brother gains more control over his condition as he gets older. For mum, something that was a major problem in her teens and twenties became sporadic but still uncobtrolled in her 30s and 40s. For the last 10-15 years she's more or less managed it herself, and has been able to go to the docs herself and get help when she needs ir, rather than the hps taking her away to be cured, if that makes sense.

Beans33 · 10/03/2010 09:37

Hey, Turnip - she's the best one in the country - my Mum saw her recently as she's had her hip replaced twice and the fecked it up both times, so she referred herself to the transgender lady as is terrified of having it done again. Apparently she told Mum that she now wants to be a man again - although that could just be a rumour... But she is meant to be amazing, so well done you for getting her! Mum is a total exception as well - my granny's had both her hips done and it's amazing for her. I'll need mine done when I'm older as am all wonky and out of synch due to sciatica and have been told it'll be weak. my sister is the same, so think it might be slightly inherited.

B&B weren't there last night, so it was a bit of a relief. They're not that uptight about the eczema luckily - I just was imagining their panic when they saw DD's little spotty face! Hee hee!

Am off on hols next week - I cannot wait. Need a break from everything - even DH, who I am getting on really well with!!! Am going to stay with one sister for 4 days, then my parents for 4 days. Heaven heaven. DD will love it too. Then the following week, DH is away skiing for a week. I think I'll miss him by the end of that!

We went to see Avatar last night - in 3-D - bloody marvellous - I loved it. Has anyone else seen it? Got a friend of DH's to babysit and we went out for dinner and then cinema. Felt like a date. Except DC2 (hee hee - it's not even born yet) kicked me massively all the way through! Was quite uncomfortable. And DH and I were both wearing our specs, with our 3-D specs on top. couldn't be more geeky if we tried - hee hee!

Veggie - so jealous of the undies! Hope the mastitis clears up soon. I am gagging for new undies, but know it'll be minging maternity bras, so am resolutely sticking to my far too small pre-preg bras - eek! Must get some more!

xx

sybilfaulty · 10/03/2010 09:40

Turnip I have divoced a few TG people (all male to female) and they all said that the relief of finally coming out and living in their female form has been immense. I work with a TG woman whom I don't know well, but puts the rest of us to shame in terms of glamour and grooming.

Invis, the job opportunity sounds very exciting but a bit scary. SO many choices to be made.

Veg, I'll put that parcel in the post to you this week.

Hello everyone else

Kids at nursery now so must work. Have so much to do. If you see me on here later, please do boot me off as I need to graft.

EffiePerine · 10/03/2010 09:42

Hi Beans! Date with DH sounds lovely. dS1 kicked voilently at any our noise and he hated noises as a baby as well (esp. Hoover and washing machines). Now he just likes making noises! Glad you've got a break from work and the crazy Bs.

Rubena · 10/03/2010 11:11

All you lot with the buggered hips better keep on my raging hormonal good side since that's dh's specialty
Yes he knows of her - she does that fancy new up an walking in hours job - brilliant.

Beans glad you didn't have to deal with B&B -nightmare!

Sybs when I read your post at first I thought you said you had "divorced" a few TG people pmsl!

Veggie - lol at our FB little sing song! homesick now!!! Hope mastitis has cleared....

oops gotta go for a bit
Spot - give it a bit longer - you need a good 6-12 months to get comfortable after moving somewhere.... we might have to move again dep on where dh ends up for the next job - Brighton is on the list but probably unlikely tbh

sybilfaulty · 10/03/2010 11:58

Rubes, I HAVE divorced a few TG people. The change has come at various stages in the relationship, and in one case the wife and the TG woman lived together happily for several years before it all fell apart.

Beans, glad you are getting a break. Not much longer with B and B thank God. I also think selling up when you are pg is liable to lead to hormonal chaos. I find moving etc emotional at the best of times and almost went completely potty when moving and pg, so am with you on the stress. It'll all be worth it in your new gaff with Whizz and a new baby. Your date sounds lovely.

Sorry Veg, missed the mastitis, poor you, very sore. Hope it gets better soon.

Lady T has texted. Course went well and she'll be back on later on today. Hurrah!

Beans33 · 10/03/2010 12:08

Sybs - I love that you've popped back on - despite work - hee hee!

Spot - I agree with others re Brighton - give it a while. My sister lived there for 3 years and loved it. Especially with small children as so much to do with pier and beach etc. Gets better as they get older too. And I used to go and visit and get those delicious mini-donuts on the pier. Just be careful of lurking seagulls who nick them out of your hands! Evil bastards. Hide an alka-seltzer in the donut and watch seagull explode. Actually don't - that would be a bit horrific. But they do pop because they can't fart or burp.

Yes, moving is going to be stressy. been in same house fof 13 years. DH thinks I'm being overemotional about it and it shouldn't be as big a deal as I think it's going to be. But have v happy memories of that house and I designed the inside myself after I had a massive flood a few years ago and I got it rebuilt with a new side return! But think he doesn't feel like it's our home at all, because it was very much mine before he moved in, IYSWIM?

Am off to Pizza Express for lunch - this is what I like about working!!! x

Beans33 · 10/03/2010 12:08

ooh, glad course went well for LadyT

LadyThompson · 10/03/2010 12:08

HURRAH! I'm back and it was all ok! In fact it was more than ok, after all the crippling anxiety for a fortnight beforehand, wishing I had never even HEARD of the sodding course, although it was hugely draining (ten hours each day, work in the evenings) and really challenging I am very very happy with my performance. Everybody else there but me was working on shows at the BBC at the moment and I had a lot to prove, and the course was just HARD, but really stimulating. So all good. MIL has just gone home so all in all I can relax a bit again. Yay. On the negative side it has made me realise how I am atrophying a bit in the country, I miss being in the thick of things at work and also geographically. So...don't know what I do about that, but I must do something. Can I just thank you all for the good luck messages and good vibes? They so worked! Right:

WG - I hear on the comedy grapevine that your DH's BE has a tv pilot at Christmas? How fabulous is that!

Rubes - I think Syb WAS saying that she had divorced them!

Trace - Personally I don't think you are being at all irrational about your worries about Lu's health, just a totally normal mother! I mean, she has had this different symptoms for a while, hasn't she? I think it's only logical to look at them all together as you are doing. I hope you get some answers soon.

Veggie - the Naughty Bus book is a favourite of mine and I really thought AK would like it. You will actually be getting another little parcel from me but that will just be through the normal post (I have to take it to the PO first though). Sorry DS2 got a bashing in the pushchair on the way home, that sounds really horrid.

Aubi, I am so very glad the antibiotics are perking you up. And great that the photos were nice but ouch! So pricey.

Jam, don't go away! Even if you just pop in now and then, it is really nice to see you.

Invis, that is SOOO exciting about the new job, though I understand your dilemma. Any further thoughts? And Brussels - fab - to which end -

PoisonD - if we are meeting up in Brussels may we may it the very one in mid-August when I happen to be there for the weekend? DP has a gig and so I am tagging along.

JJ - I was so saddened to hear about the family from your church. You will remember that a close friend of DP's died very suddenly in January 2009, leaving two girls of 2 and 5. Their Mum is a GP, actually. I would like to say they are doing a lot better just over a year later, but I don't think they are However, what I will say is that her church have been so supportive and fantastic - I simply cannot praise the vicar enough - and I know that has been a huge comfort and so I hope your church can do the same for the lady you know.

DaisyD - congrats on your new niece! Lovely news.

Effie - good that your Mum will avoid hospital...

Beans, honestly, the Beryl Barbaras are such a bunch of wets. Can you imagine what they will be like when Barbara is actually at school?

Oh, and my agent FINALLY emailed me on Monday to say he was still digesting everything and would try to email me the next day. Then yesterday he emailed to say could we chat over the phone about the outstanding issues, so I hope we will do that this afternoon. I really don't mind doing more work on it if necessary. But I just need a clear indication of what he wants. Groan.

Rubena · 10/03/2010 12:13

Sybs - it must be your job?? Sorry I'm thoroughly confused - so you haven't been divorced several times yourself, personally, due to your own ex-husbands changing gender have you? Think I'm off to hide under a rock

well done Lady!

Rubena · 10/03/2010 12:17

x posted Lady - really well done!!

So does Syb do that for a job? Or is my foot firmly planted in my mouth as per usual and she has been married many times but they all turned out to be wanting a sex change therefore resulted in divorce? We need a hide under a rock emoticon.

Beans33 · 10/03/2010 12:20

PS does anyone know of any really nice spa hotels that aren't too expensive and that cater for preggies and aren't too far from London? Demanding, moi?

A preggie friend and I are looking to go away for a weekend in April and DHs have agreed to look after bambinos for a weekend. keen to go for nice walks, have a facial or massage and read lots and eat lots of nice supper. Shouldn't be too hard to find - but lots of expensive places out there!

Beans33 · 10/03/2010 12:23

Oh LadyT - I crossposted too - hurray that you feel it went so well - really chuffed for you as we know how much you were dreading it! Well done you - hurray hurrah!!!

Rubes - hahaha! You do make me laugh!!!

x
