June 2005 Southern meet number 3

Okay, time to plan our next meet. At the last London meet, we talked about Reading being the most accessible to all. Is this still the case?

Any views on Dates? I'm back at work on 15 August, so if it's after that I'll need a Saturday or Sunday. I can not do 20 July - 02 August as my mum will be visiting.

I assume we want to bring/meet the babies. What about toddlers? I'm sort of thinking that travel with baby and toddler is perhaps a bit more than I care to take on (especially for those travelling by train).

As for a venue, I was thinking that we could perhaps seek out a baby friendly spot in the Oracle (shopping mall in Reading). Possibly another TGI?

One more point to consider. Should we invite the Due in May crowd as well? I would say we could invite July too, but I expext they have other things on their agenda right now... Although, if we don't meet until late Aug or Sept. then they might want to join us.

Ok, I've put out lots to consider. Please repond with your thoughts and if you want to come. Jyust to recap:

1- Date?
2- Place? Reading? London? Somewhere else?
3- Bring babies? Toddlers stay home?
4- Venue suggestions?
5- Include neigboring Due in months (May & July)?

Fab Scraggy - you definitely have to come!

northstar · 12/08/2005 10:56

Hi, I'm from the may bunch too, would really like to come if it's not too late? I live in Ireland but my mum lives in Slough and I grew up there. I usually come over around that time to buy a few winter things.
I would leave toddler with my mum, and she can drive me there. I will need to look at flights and prices, so just wanted to confirm that it was ok to come?

teabelly · 12/08/2005 12:01

Northstar - of course it's fine to come - the more the merrier! Book those flights now!!

PinkArjuna · 12/08/2005 17:10

Scraggy - if you are coming on the train we can brave the trip together.

uwila · 14/08/2005 10:23

Current list:

Charleypops (June)
Logic (May)
LittleB (May)
Myermay (May)
Pink (June)
Teabelly (June)
Uwila (May/June)

So, that's 9 adults, nine little babies and one toddler... I think. Please post any corrections I should know about. Thanks.

I am really disappointed but I can't come, it just occurred to me to check with my mum and she is actually away mountain climbing in scotland until the sunday night. I couldnt do it without her being around, and she can't change her hols as it is the first one that isnt with me and my kids!

teabelly · 21/08/2005 21:12

Oh bummer Northstar ... you don't fancy bringing your toddler too ?? I am ! Mind you just because I'm mad doesn't mean you have to be too . If you don't end up making this one, hopefully we'll have another one soon and you can come over for that one...you'll have to let us know how often you come over and we can try and coincide our next meet for then

uwila · 23/08/2005 10:29

Oh darn, Northstar. I just read this. Toddler is welcome. Then little Mr. Teabelly would have a partner in crime for the lunch. Really, your toddler is more welcome. Oh I hope you can come, but I understand if you don't want to.

And if you don't make it, Tea is right we should schedule the next one around your schedule.

shame if you can't make it northstar. i'm coming by trin now, thought it'd be easier, anyone else coming by train from the southwest, or via basingstoke? how will we know each other to meet up?

Cat me and I'l tell you my last name, which is the name the table is booked under.

Regarding prams, I think it would be a good idea if people brought their babies into the restaurant in car seats, if they can. I made the reservatio for 12 people to give us a bit more elbow room. But 9 prams around the table likely won't do well. In fact, they might not even allow prams at the table. TGIF don't.

LittleB · 25/08/2005 19:57

Those of us coming by train won't have car seats though. We have just bought a buggy which is much smaller than her travel system and I'm happy to leave that by the door and have her in a sling at the table. I'll try and CAT you too. It would be nice to meet you by the station myermay, I think there might be others coming by train too.

I'll have a car seat as DS is still too dinky to be in the buggy alone - however big travel system by the door. I arrive at reading station at 11.44am who is coming by train?

uwila · 30/08/2005 08:48

Right, so I think this is the current roll call. If you are on this list and not coming PLEASE let me know. And of course if I've missed anyone please let me know that as well.

Charleypops (June)
Logic (May)
LittleB (May)
Pink (June)
Teabelly (June)
Uwila (May/June)

Don't all shout at once, now.

LittleB · 31/08/2005 08:45

Hi, I'm sorry I'm going to have to cancel too. I've been suffereing quite badly with IBS and I've been told to take it easy for a few days, so I don't think I should come as it will involve 5 hours travelling in total. Would love to come to another meet up in the future.
Myermay could you let me know the cost of postage for the nappies.
Thanks

uwila · 31/08/2005 09:49

LittleB,
Hope you feel better soon. Sorry we won't get to meet, but of course understand that you need to take care of yourself.

So the list is....
Charleypops
Uwila
Teabelly
Logic
PinkArjuna

Still a good number, I think. See you guys Saturday. I'm going to amend the reservations tomorrow. So if there are any more changes PLEASE PLEASE post them today.

We'll definitely have to arrange another MAy/June Southern meetup to include those who couldn't make this one.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of you.

right I'm off to buy my train ticket so I don't have to rush on Saturday

uwila · 01/09/2005 15:34

Hi Pink. Can't wait to meet little Osiris. See you there;-)

We are off to the US Embassy in London tomorrow so I won't be on here much. But I'll try to check messages before leaving for Reading Saturday.

Oh, and Charley isn't coming so we are down to 4. But still not a bad turn out for people with young babies.

OP posts:
logic · 02/09/2005 22:14

Hi Uwila, I will definately be there. I am looking forward to meeting Teabelly and PinkArjuna because I haven't chatted to them at all yet.

PinkArjuna · 03/09/2005 09:19

Right see you all later - just getting the little man dressed - yay a day of disposable nappies
