Sept 08: last year they were cute little bundles that smelt of milk and vanilla, but now they've been replaced with a babyzilla!

A new thread for us as the last one was running low.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

dastardly - that's appalling! Almost as bad as Lambeth at its height of lack of school places, which was considered to be a national scandal.
What are they (Wandsworth, isn't it?) doing - are there portakabins being put in any schools to enable extra classes? They've had to do that for two years in my local school - and next year all 3 of my local ones will have to, despite two new schools opening, according to the counsellor I grilled on the doorstep yesterday.

A managed to produce lots of poo today with about an hour of crying but at least no actual screaming. He chomped through loads of spinach and pesto omelette for dinner so hopefully will be OK at nursery tomorrow. I never dreamed poo would affect my life so much! Even though my first work experience was analysing the stuff in a hospital pathology lab...

In better news, we've just booked our first proper family holiday - 4 nights on the Isle of Wight, 4 adults and 2 toddlers, so can take it in turns to have an evening out. I'm hugely excited!

Meglet · 21/04/2010 21:47

carrie we have that clock too . DS figured out how to unlock it and wake the sun up within a couple of days of having it in his room .

I am starting to resort to bribery now. We had a little chat about how if he learns how to stay in bed in the morning then I will get him his first set of Duplo.

ninja · 21/04/2010 22:10

D&S that sounds like they need some serious action.

NC we've just booked a holiday for May - in a static caravan, DD1 is SOOO excited, and we've just got a climbing frame for the garden, it says for 3 years up - M is going to love it!

DebiTheScot · 21/04/2010 22:26

That's crazy D&S

Poor A nc

Bribery's always good meg

We just got given a tp explorer climbing frame and monkey bars from the neighbour We'd been looking at them but decided we couldn't afford it so then looked on ebay but still going for up to £100 second hand. So I asked the neighbour (who's son is 9 and only there at weekends) if we could look at his to see what it was like as he were thinking about getting 1 and he said we could have his That was what I was hoping he'd say but I couldn't just ask for it!
I love our neighbours here.

Debs75 · 22/04/2010 10:43

Robyn has another nasty cough. Think it is due to the re-roof as it is so dusty. She can't sleep well and is off her food and coughs so much. And is demanding 'booby' all the time which is relly uncomfortable. I had got her down to 2 feeds, 1 on a night and 1 in a morning.
Does anyone know how to check you are still producing milk? when I squeeze them there is no milk whatsoever and when she suckles I think she is just doing it for a dummy effect.

Have just had to tell her not to draw on the dog

DastardlyandSmugly · 22/04/2010 12:32

Been to visit the other school today. It was OK but definitely would not be on my original list of 4. Nursery and reception seem nice but not sure about the upper school.

Anyway we're sending off a late application to this school and another it looks like we'd have gotten into and we'll see what happens.

Also waiting for appeal date for Swaffield to come through.

With this and work, which is crap at the moment, I'm totall stressed out. Luckily we're off to Devon this weekend for five days - can't wait!

digitalgirl · 22/04/2010 14:01

D&S bloody hell, that's a ridiculous number of children without places.

debi what a lovely neighbour. I would love a climbing frame for the garden. DS is a champion climber inside the house. Loo seats, dining tables...

debs our entire ground floor is graffitied. I even found some 'artwork' in the downstairs loo. DH think's its cute (he used to graffiti back in the 80s).

NC DS went through a phase like that. Kept giving him freshly squeezed orange juice as much watered down juice of any sort that he wanted. Just to keep him well hydrated. He seems to have developed a love of fruit now especially kiwis and strawberries (refuses cereal and toast for brekkie), so that seems to be keeping him regular now.

GP appointment last Tuesday was fairly successful. He's referred me to see a gynae, in light of my two consecutive mcs plus the bleeding I had with DS (don't know if any of you remember) he thought that was enough to warrant asking the experts to investigate.

We're so so so busy packing all my mum's stuff. I can't wait till thats all over and she's in and we can start spending some quality family time together. We've not renewed DS's swimming lessons or music class but he's getting plenty of trips to the park at the moment, so hopefully he's not suffering too much from the upheaval (although bedtimes are currently v difficult).

DastardlyandSmugly · 22/04/2010 14:29

Digi was it you that had the bleeding on holiday with your DS? Can't remember who that was. I had bleeding early on with DD too.

digitalgirl · 22/04/2010 17:10

Yes, started off quite light before I went away, then got worse while we were out there (Mauritius, our last indulgent holiday!). Remember waking up for a couple of nights on the trot with awful cramps and fresh red blood, absolutely convinced I was mc-ing. Then the MS kicked in and had a (reassuringly) terrible flight back where we even upgraded to business so it would be more comfortable. Never was I more pleased to be gagging on the offer of champagne.

Have never had one of those trouble-free pregnancies. Can I order one of those for next time please?

notcitrus · 22/04/2010 20:17

Thanks for the good wishes digi and debi - A was very happy at nursery today and did a beautiful poo! Spinach omelette frequently, I think.

He will only drink juice from the cup I can't get open - had an enormous tantrum when I tried putting juice in a bottle (NO! Mik!!) or a sippy cup (NO! War-tah!!). He's starting to drink from an open cup/glass and get it into his mouth so will perservere (knew that set of plastic shot glasses would come in handy eventually). Suspect he's going to be an annoyingly logical child just like, er, me and his father...

CappuccinoCarrie · 22/04/2010 22:50

DG that sounds like good news....? Are you able to have a reassurance scan?

Good work on the free stuff debi!

becaroo · 23/04/2010 09:42

Good news about poo!!!

D&S Its an awful situation...fingers crossed for appeal for you.

We have booked 2 hols this year..north yorks in july and center parcs in june...ds1s birthday syrprise!....cant wait.

Other hols will have to be weekends as dh is running our of hols!

Have a good weekend ladies x

CappuccinoCarrie · 23/04/2010 14:34

Ooh bec you're coming to visit us on holiday, how lovely!

So then people with imagination and a GSOH, what's our new thread title going to be?

becaroo · 23/04/2010 16:33

Oh carrie you are lucky to live there...its so beautiful - we have been the last 2 years running!!! We are staying in a converted goods shed at an old railway station about 5 mins from Scarborough. Am hoping for good weather. We are staying at Longleat center parcs.

No ideas for new thread title I am afraid....brain has finally turned to sponge

Meglet · 23/04/2010 17:03

bookmarking...

D&S that's a whole schools worth of children without a school! Crazy.

digitalgirl · 23/04/2010 17:56

carrie Once the EPDU pass hand me over to the Gynae dept at the hospital I'm going to discuss the early ante-natal support with them for when I manage to conceive again.

They've booked me in for a repeat scan on Monday, part of the 'ruling out' process I suppose. Am feeling a bit mroe positive now the spotting's stopped. Even thinking about trying again before I get a period. Although, it's quite likely I won't ovulate (I didn't after the first MC).

No holidays booked here yet. Although once my mum's move is out of the way (lots of furniture and boxes being shifted this weekend) I'm hoping to get a holiday sorted for all of us. DS could do with having us all around to coo and fuss over him.

And I need a date with DH. Feel like I haven't seen him for months.

Meglet · 24/04/2010 13:05

aw, DG, it sounds like it will be great with your mum there too. Enjoy your dates with your DH.

DS broke the tv this morning, he had pulled it over and off the unit . Thankfully the screen hadn't smashed but the insides all rattled when I put it back and it fizzled when I tried to turn it on. Cue one very angry mummy and one 3.6yo sent to his room. My friend has come to the rescue with her old TV though and I am now sitting here in peace with Sky News on while the dc's are on a playdate .

And I have also been to the gym this morning and been tortured at circuit class.

digitalgirl · 24/04/2010 15:40

Operation: Empty House is progressing well under DH's management.

In the meantime DS and I have done the shopping (well as much as I could fit in the buggy), hung the washing, had a picnic lunch & bought some more plants for the garden. Just having a break before attempting to plant some of the herbs and flowers.

Such a beautiful day!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/04/2010 19:10

The sunshine makes such a difference doesn't it?

DS 'helped' us to sew our carrot, pea, bean, basil, rocket and mixed leaves today. I have no idea how successful we'll be. It can go one of two ways. 1. everything will wilt and die. 2. we'll have so much stuff we won't know what to do.

I suspect the 1st option

I'll have a think about the title ............

OP posts:
Meglet · 24/04/2010 21:51

ILTMIMI Today I sowed;

Peas (very old seeds, don't fancy my chances)
Mixed salad leaves
Coriander
Purple carrots (random impulse buy)
Potatoes (well, 4 sprouting ones I found in the cupboard, apparently they should grow).

The runners, spinach, raspberries and pumpkins are growing well. Brussels and leeks don't look too happy though.

Flowers tomorrow!

Hope you are all ok folks. Good news on your eggs carrie

DebiTheScot · 25/04/2010 22:32

we've planted 3 rows of carrots (had 3 different kinds so figured might as well just plant them all), parsnips, brocoli, beans, peas, strawberries, lettuce, peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, rhubarb (brought that from old house) and blueberry (also in a pot from last year). Oh and a squash but it looks dead.

It's ds1's 4th birthday today so we've had a busy weekend. Went to Legoland with 1 of his friends yesterday and then he had some friends round to play this afternoon. DH had some kind of flu type thing all weekend but he struggled through. Meant he wasn't up for helping last night though so I was running round like a mad woman cleanin and tidying and making a cake. Cake photo on profile.

Hopefully · 26/04/2010 09:44

We've been planting like crazy round here -a few rows each of carrots, onions, leaf beet (like spinach, but more reliable apparently), beetroots, parsnips, and the beans (2 varieties) are in pots on windowsills along with approximately 3,000 tomato plants, a couple of cucumber, and two aubergine plants [optimist with no greenhouse emoticon]. Absolutely loving the new house, although feeling poor in the extreme after buying loads of new bits and bobs to make it more homey. Also poor due to old landlady trying to deduct loads of our deposit for imaginary problems in the old house - we're fighting it and have made it clear we're prepared to go to small claims if necessary. Grrr.

DS being v cute at the minute, which is lovely - he loves being out in the garden all day, although we're going through sunscreen at a rate of knots (can't find a sunhat he'll keep on. Any suggestions?)

DG poor you, but glad they're investigating - I remember all the drama when you were pregnant with DS. I think we're another month down with no BFP here (AF due in a couple of days, no PG feelings whatsoever, and had symptoms this time with both previous pregnancies). It's really beginning to get me down a bit now, as it's getting on for 6 months of TTC. I am, however, strangely slightly consoled by the fact that if we do decide to have 3 DCS (faintly possible), we can just try for a smaller gap between DC2&3 so we get all our children in the same timeframe, just less evenly spaced than we hoped for! [crazy emoticon]

becaroo · 26/04/2010 10:35

hopefully I love that there is someone who plans more then I do!!!

Update on house move; we arent!! We are staying where we are and not extending either ....have decided that actually we do have 3 bedrooms but one used as a study so going to get a laptop (yay!!) and move Toby in there. New windows, doors, re-wire, new boiler and a complete re-decoration so we are going to be busy!!!

Didnt want to spend £220-240k on a 4 bed house as we would only gain one bedroom (which the PC would be in) and en en-suite to the master bedroom but thats it! Hey ho.

Am now excited we know what we're doing finally.

Off to hospital today for my gastro appointment - gulp. I know I need an endoscopy but I really dont want one!!

Enjoy the sun ladies x

Debs75 · 26/04/2010 11:01

Really impressed with all the veggie planting going on. Our garden just has grass and dandelions in it and is so overgrown. When we move I will start a patch.

Hopefully if you find a hat that works let me know Robyn throws them all everytime.

Becaroo all this moving/not moving must be tiring you out. I can't cope with looking full time so tend to flick through the property guide once a week and go from there. I know I'll miss some but it is so stressful

We have all had a rotten cold this weekend and I feel so shattered. Robyn is so snotty it makes it hard for her to eat but apart from that she seems well.
