Sorry to hear about your colds Deb and Goddess .

Amber, it is totally natural to feel so low just before you start your jabs. I felt really low before I started downregging, better when I was stimming (cos then you actually know something is happening cos you get your follie count) and then found the 2ww really really hard. Hope you've got loads of treats and stuff lined up for the next four weeks.

puree, I'm so impressed that C is in a bed already - think we'll be keeping A in his cotbed for as loooong as possible . Just can't imagine him staying put!

One of my NCT mums announced she was pg today - has left me feeling soooooo broody . AIBU?

spongebrainbigpants · 25/01/2010 20:49

Lol deb, we cross posted!

Rolf · 25/01/2010 21:10

Sorry to hear about the colds but I'm laughing at the lady with pants and bacon . What more could a girl want?

Amber sorry you're down. It must be very daunting.

What else was I going to post? Can't remember. We were up late last night listening to Dickhead and doing the taxes (Tedi where are you on this? We've done "we're ruined" and Kate Nash helps us through the anger as we sing Dickhead to each other). The girls kept me awake for half the night so I can't remember what I was going to say to anyone.

poppy34 · 25/01/2010 21:35

Rolf there is no music to ease the pain of those I work with. Amber
good luck - would imagine feeling apprehensive is normal.

TediBersMorRad · 25/01/2010 22:19

I've got it - Sponge, I was thinking about you as I drove to work (yes, all very !) and I finally got it. You need to write a book about fertility treatment. Like the pg book I had - Yummy Mummy Survival Guide - funny, with some serious information in it, but the kind you wouldn't get from your consultant. As a best mate's advice/help over a large glass of wine (probably banned but see, I know nothing). I mean this - I'm serious - you know all this stuff and I think you could do it; you've been there. Do it! I think it's needed as well. I know absolutely nothing about fertility treatment (I've not been through it, but friends who have don't really go into the details somehow) and I also have no idea what to say to people going through it either - so there's a final chapter for you! You must do this.

Rolf denial here (DH unable to remember when it's due in ) but quickly heading towards depression!

Sorry to all those with colds - I had a nasty one last week which is doing the rounds. But agree with Puree, I did drink lemsip (normally just take the tabs!) and it made me feel more sick!

Bibs - a lost battle. But so is gloves, hats, coats (sometimes), staying indoors, eating, not eating chocolate, getting into the bath, getting out of the bath, putting on a nappy, taking off a nappy...need I go on?

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 25/01/2010 22:30

Great idea for sponge tedi!

Am quite traumatised because there is no night nurse in the house. Now that tastes truly foul but it knocks me out a treat when i've got a cold! Not too much a fan of lemsip, but always feel that It's Good For Me and therefore must be drunk if feeling properly poorly

DebInAustria · 25/01/2010 23:02

Goddess - how about Medised!

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 25/01/2010 23:24

Is it wrong that I like lemsip?

spongebrainbigpants · 26/01/2010 07:53

Tedi, it's a great idea and tbh I did consider it at one point, but I suspect it has been done to death by now - there are loads of books on the market (novels and non-fiction) detailing other women's struggles with fertility and their 'journeys'. Not sure I have anything new to add . Nice idea though!

I second the night nurse for colds - totally fab, although I always take is as a tablet cos don't like any of the cold remedy drinks.

spongebrainbigpants · 26/01/2010 07:54

Getting really really really really sick of the 'throwing food' phase now .

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 26/01/2010 08:12

I woke up at 11pm and realized I really need lemsip too. Uggh. And DH was snoring because he's sick as well. And I like lemsip too...

sponge YANBU, but silly... I was like that when Fraser was a baby and the older he's gotten, the less broody I've become.

OP posts:
spongebrainbigpants · 26/01/2010 08:48

That's interesting AH - think dh is probably praying that's the case for me too!

neenz · 26/01/2010 11:24

I like Lemsip! The blackcurrant ones are best though.

Good to hear I am not the only one with bib battles. It is definitely linked to the food I offer. This morning she refused bib and porridge but had a tangerine and put the bib on (grudgingly - she moaned and tried to get it off but I just ignored her and she kept it on while she ate )

Sponge, I feel the same about twins books - it feels they have been done to death but each new one that comes out you think 'how have you managed to get that published when it is the same as the others?'

I haven't been back on the AN thread - feeling very positive now. I was reading my miscarriage book and it says after a live birth you have only a 5% chance of mc in next pregnancy and as I have already made it to 11+2 that must have dropped way lower! It also says it is rare for the baby to die and have no cramping or bleeding. Although that is exactly what happened in my first pregnancy . Sure that was just bad luck tho.

I had a really bad morning with the DTs yesterday, they were just fighting over everything and I felt so tired. I burst into tears when my Tesco shop came because I could not muster up the energy to put it all away . Feel much better today though.

I am watching Andy Murray - two sets up

PiggyPenguin · 26/01/2010 12:10

I hate Lemsip too, it makes me vomit.

We gave up on bibs so long ago I can't even remember when it was. Lets not forget though that this is the child who has never eaten a meal in the highchair, so I don't think that the no-bibs thing will come as a surprise to anyone.

Good luck with the needles Amber, in fact, fingers and toes crossed for thw whole thing.

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 26/01/2010 12:59

I'm just sitting down with a lemsip now - to read an engineering text book (dull - but hopefully will help with this career shift thing). Did the whole island come down with a cold on the same day?

OP posts:
Upsidedowncake · 26/01/2010 13:02

Hi everyone

Sorry about all the sniffles. I recommend hot lemon, honey and whisky - tho perhaps not if PG!

Amber, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. It must be very daunting.

Bibs, D announces that she's had enough mentally or physically by ripping her bib off and dropping it on the floor. She also communicates her disapproval of things by holding my gaze and deliberately dropping the offending food. I find it much harder to tell her off than C because she's still so little! Can't remember whether I used to tell C off at this age. With you on the 'forgot the rules' thing, Debs

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 26/01/2010 13:59

UDC C does the 'watch me while I deliberately drop this lovingly prepared food on the floor' routine too. Very annoying.

I don't have a cold. C has a horrid dirty nose though, and eczema on her chin and round her nose secondary to all the snot and dribble. yuck.

neenz well done on avoiding the AN thread. We'll let you go back in a week or so!

Rolf · 26/01/2010 14:22

T has started sticking out her tongue at us! She sometimes sticks it out as part of the "that's your tongue. Where's your nose?" routine, but recently she's been doing it in a very cheeky way. She's copying DD1 - my boys don't do things like that, but DD1 seems to have a knack for finding habits that push all my buttons. I tell T to put her tongue away, and if she doesn't I put her out of the room. Sometimes she is really defiant about it but other times she bursts into tears and wants to be friends again.

T also likes to climb up on a kitchen chair and start climbing up the ladderback, or rattling the chair like mad. Very dangerous.

DD1's other habit is to speak in a really thick scouse accent. Now, I'm not getting into a thing about whether or not I'm a snob (I am) or the glory of the regional vernacular, but DD1 does it purely as a wind up. I am biting my tongue to stop nagging her about it as I know it will just encourage her. But I hope T doesn't pick up on it in the way she picked up on the tongue-sticking-out.

Well done Neenz

I have caught the June 08 headcold .

A friend whose DC3 is T's age, has just had another baby, so I'm broody too (in a not really way!). She has 4 girls now, and they all have beautiful Irish names.

We got a letter offering the girls the swine flu vaccine. What is everyone doing about it

neenz · 26/01/2010 14:43

I'm getting them vaccinated Rolf, and myself too when I am offered it. I would have been more wary when the vaccine first came out but it has been used for 6mths or so now with no adverse reactions AFIAK so I am happy with it.

lol at the thick scouse accent - I do have that fear myself! You're right about not makking a big deal of it... she is a real character your DD1 isn't she. I find E gets really upset when I tell her off, like absolutely sobbing, whereas T just tends to ignore me . I was always a bit like E, hated getting in trouble.

Amber, forgot to say, the absolute best of luck with everything. It must be normal to feel quite scared because you really are embarking on something big. But the chances of success must surely increase because you have had a successful pregnancy before...?

UDC, nice to hear from you, your food story made me laugh.

Biscuits, will you give me the key to the AN thread back a week tomorrow then?

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 26/01/2010 14:50

Rolf the boys had their jabs last week, no big reactions although DS1 was grumpy the next day.

amber sending hugs...

OP posts:
Rolf · 26/01/2010 14:53

UDC that's my favourite cold remedy, too!
Same as you and Deb on forgetting the rules. When DD1 was little, I remember DS1 asking me whether I was going to shout at her the way I shouted at the boys . But not enough to prevent me shouting at her

Neenz it's a hazard of living here isn't it!

PiggyPenguin · 26/01/2010 18:14

J is getting the flu job next month (there's a very long wait so I guess every other parent locally is having it too). We decided to do it because their age group seems to be at a much greater risk of complications if they catch swine flu.

Ds1 went to pizza express today as part of his design and technology class. It was about designing pizza toppings . He came home with a full sized pizza that he has designed and topped himself. The he ate it all while we looked on and drooled. Very cruel!

DebInAustria · 26/01/2010 20:23

Not heard anything here about swine flu jabs, but there have been cases in school and Kindergarten.

Glad I'm not the only one who's forgotten the rules, I'm forever saying to dh - did s do this at this age? What was T doing now? etc...

Any of your lo's showing a preference for one hand, E appears to be favouring his left, none of us are left handed, dh thinks it will give Ethan a great advantage when playing tennis!!

spongebrainbigpants · 26/01/2010 20:56

I'm hoping to have A done (swine flu) but have heard nothing so need to chase it up with the docs.

deb, lol at E being good at tennis if left handed! I'm left handed but haven't managed to win Wimbledon yet . I would have said it's too early for established 'handedness' but dh and I are both lefties and are endlessly watching A to see if he shows a preference!

Left handedness rocks .

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 26/01/2010 22:05

Still feel bleeeeeuuuuurrrrggghhhh.

Re the swine flu, I had a letter to say that S will be invited for his in the next few weeks. Am planning for S to have it.

Feel too poorly to post more.
