Just thought I'd better create a new thread.

Raggie how about a trip to Burford?

Pav I think we had the same day yesterday, I was doubting myself with everything even down to whether I should use a reusable or disposable nappy when I changed him in the afternoon and then crying because I knew how pathetic it was. Feeling much better today as I got a little more sleep last night so not quite as wobbly.

Although I never expected to have a strong instinct for being a mum, I definitely wasn't expecting to have so little confidence with it. Normally I'm pretty confident in anything I do but I'm struggling here. It's better than a few weeks ago but I keep waiting for the time it'll all click in to place... maybe when he's 18?

Fruitpastels · 21/01/2010 10:56

Thanks Scarlotti I have requested to join It's so nice to have such lovely ladies to talk to

TOK Hope you get some sleep today.

Seem to be getting there with the night times. I need to crack on with putting him to sleep upstairs, he is still downstairs with us until 11pm or shall I say with DH (I'm sleeping!). We don't hear from him from 8pm until 4am (has 11pm feed), so he's happy to sleep of an evening and I'm scared of upsetting the current routine, but I should try ASAP to change things.

DS1 has to have his swine flu, MMR and booster injections over the next couple of weeks, also have 12 wk vaccinations for baby, I really want to get them over with!!

skorpion · 21/01/2010 12:04

scarlotti done! Thanks.

It's a lovely day here today, just waiting for the grocery delivery and we're out of the house.

Had my check up today and can finally drive! Not that I have anywhere I need to be, just nice to be able to have the option.

claired21 · 21/01/2010 12:19

fruit you should have access to the fb group now.

TOK · 21/01/2010 12:28

Thanks Fruit I did manage to get some sleep and am now having a serious 'I love you so much I think I might explode' day. (nothing at all to do with the fact that Anya slept until 10am!)Its the gigges, the huge smile and kicks of her wee legs when she looks at me, and she has just been sleeping on me with her head snuggled in just under my neck, curled up like a little hedgehog and I could have just stayed holding her like that all day.

Sorry for the extreme mushiness , I'm not usually like this. Clearly the old hormones haven't settled down yet

skorpion · 21/01/2010 13:11

Oooh, tok, that sounds so lovely! Lucy's just started to be more alert and wanting to communicate (little aahs and ohs, and even one rrrrr today!). She's delighted when I mimic her. And she's just sleeping in my lap now looking sweet as pie. I say mushiness is definitely allowed

helips · 21/01/2010 13:24

No routine here either, Millie just seems to sleep and eat whenever the mood takes her!

I too have been contemplating how to get rid of my muffin top. I can't believe my tummy is still so big and the other day though there might be something wrong with me and that maybe I should speak to the doctor. But then, on second thoughts, maybe I should just do some exercise and stop eating biscuits!

Very tired today, ds woke at 5.20am this morning and has been whiney and naughty, I have no patience for this!

Ninjacat · 21/01/2010 13:27

A screaming baby in the other room is less relaxing than a baby on the boob me is thinking.

weston · 21/01/2010 14:02

yes with you on the mushiness i think motherhood 2nd time around is even better as you are more relaxed and really enjoy it, DD2 when awake just smiles and coos its soo adorable, she is 9 weeks and still looks like a little doll!

went for postnatal check, always took femodene but thinking of trying implant or injection as sure would forget to take the pill now, anyone good/bad experience of them?

have sorest mouth ulcer in world, under tongue, hurts to eat/drink/talk..chemist refused to give me anything as b/feeding..

yes hoping once weather improves can at least do big walk to start reducing the stones as can't stop eating and weight is now going in wrong direction even thought it is supposed to be falling off while b/feeding...i blame cream eggs..though maybe this ulcer will help things...

weston · 21/01/2010 14:04

re routine at start i look at one of the stricter ones as didn't have any last time but have fallen into the EASY one as its just naturally happens that she eats, plays, sleeps and i get to email..

also gradually getting her down for nite earlier, last nite was 8:30, hurrah

TOK · 21/01/2010 14:31

I'm looking forward to weather improving too. We have a lovely big park right on our doorstep but I just don't feel like going out when its so cold!

Dh is on waiting list for the snip. They said he will have the consultation and procedure on the same day I think thats the only way for us as we seem to get pregnant very easily and 2 dcs are quite enough for us.

skorpion · 21/01/2010 14:47

weston we're sort of doing EASY, too. Or a variation on the theme. She's OK at night and I just let her get on in the day. Hopefully this will carry on when she grows a bit and stretches the night, too. Hope your ulcer clears quickly, can't you even take anything like bonjella?

I think we may be going through a bit of a growth spurt. Feeding more frequently and just more in general, had three feeds of about 120ml (4oz) between 3.30 am and 10 am, she's been on the boob twice since. And I thought putting on almost a pound in a week was spurty enough...

VenusInfers · 21/01/2010 14:49

I've just put the Kyte cookies recipe on the fb group as a discussion topic so we can all find it easily. Though looking at my & DH's tums we best keep clear of them for a little while yet...

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/01/2010 14:49

Hi All, just a quickie to say things are going a bit better with me - hoping things will start to improve - have joined a Transition to Motherhood group run by health visitors and it has been a big help so far (like I am transitioning into motherhood as I have three now but there you go!) we'll see how things go. I'll keep you posted.

Weston can't you even use bonjella? I suffer from these from times to time - they are horrible - I only ever use bonjella though.

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/01/2010 14:50

Skorpion great minds (bonjella!).

We use EASY here - it works for us and I've used it for all three.

VenusInfers · 21/01/2010 15:01

Okay, I give in. What's EASY?

Tamlin · 21/01/2010 15:06

Helips, I was thinking that about my stomach last night. It really is shot this time. Not sure how long I can keep tucking it into my elastic-waisted jeans, but when is there time to exercise?! DS 1 gets up at six, DS 2 goes down at 10.30. There is maybe thirty minutes in the day when I don't have a child sitting on top of me, and I tend to fritter those minutes away doing stuff like oh, the dishes or EATING. Not situps (and with the diastasis, I'm not supposed to be doing those either.)

I've been trying to dothis exercise for the last four weeks or so, but with no discernable effect yet.

Slipped on some concrete this morning while chasing a rebellious toddler off the local tennis courts, and somehow, failed to break my fall with my hands and broke it with a) my face and b) my poor bosoms. I now have the sort of scrapemarks on my knockers that you usually get on your knees, and a rugby-player-style swollen nose. I am feeling HUGELY sorry for myself - but hey, Arthur slept through the night last night!!!

Tamlin · 21/01/2010 15:07

Should add: it was MY rebellious toddler. Do not run around yelling at random toddlers.

maman2tom · 21/01/2010 15:19

BBL Yeah glad things are going well

Venus Sounds really energetic doesn't it wallpapering on my first free day However i've been decorating for the last 3 year so i'm not superwoman at all!

Tamlin I know what you mean about not having the time i'm having physio as my pelvic foor is shot to pieces and the midwife keeps on at me to do the exercises at home but i never have 5minutes calm all to myself!

Well Ds1 definately has chicken pox he's now covered in scaby spots! YUK it makes me itch just typing about it! Yesterday was okay barely slowed him down but today lots of crying, no appetite (except sweets and apple puree). Just hoping i can get away without the baby catching it. Fingers crossed that those lovely mummy antibodies will do the trick. All though as i'm back at work monday it would be dp by himself with 2 sick children!!!!

TOK · 21/01/2010 15:23

Oh Tamlin that sounds painful! But well done Arthur sleeping through!

Venus EASY (Eat, Activity, Sleep, You) is a baby whisperer thing. We too have fallen into this, it seems to work!

misssese · 21/01/2010 15:24

Im so pleased to hear others dont have a routine!!! i was going to follow EASY ( Secrets of the baby whisperer )- VenusInfers Read the book loved the sound of it , but Pearl has fallen into a no routine , routine and seems quite happy. If it aint broke dont fix it?? Also EASY advises against baby sleeping straight after feeding and Pearl aways does this!
Also pleased to hear im not the only who is breastfeeding and hasnt found the weight fall off!! At first it did in the first week or 2 but after that i seem to just be putting weight on!! Im not watching my weight or doing much exercise but do go out for walks. Its not fair i wanted to be one of the ones who could eat what they liked while breastfeeding and still loses weight!!!!

skorpion · 21/01/2010 15:46

becky very good to hear from you and that things are looking up.

tamlin ouchie!

misssese I have the Whisperer solves all your problems book. I have to say I find the way it's written a bit annoying. She's all quaint Yorkshire lass made up for the American market - a bit of a cliche with 'cuppas' and 'duckies'. And she treats the parents a bit like idiots sometimes. That said, I do like the ideas of listening to the baby and learning from him/her. Mind you our EASY routine is sometimes ESAY - sleep after eating here too.

maman poor sausage with the pox. Fingers crossed Dan won't get it.

Trikken · 21/01/2010 16:18

ooh Tamlin, hope you are ok, does indeed sound painful, and also sounds very much like something i'd do!

maman, hope your ds1 feels better soon, its not fun having chicken pox.

as for routines, we dont have a routine for Annabelle but she has settled herself into a good routine at the moment.

VenusInfers · 21/01/2010 16:46

missease I wanted to be one of those too! But as I've never found it easy to lose weight I guess it was too much to ask. Sigh... For the first few weeks I think I did lose weight, but then LO was gaining around 10oz a week. Now that he's calmed down a bit I have to too. Bye-bye mid morning toast, farewell overnight dried apricots, hello naff all!

The only time I think to do my pelvic floor exercises is as I bf, only remember a couple of times a day but it's better than nowt, surely? And I do some abs exercises just before bed, though I know I'll have to find another time or two in the day when I do them if I actually want to have my old flabby tummy back rather than my new misshapen flabby tummy! I have to remind myself it's only been 2 months and the first month of that was spent in a sleep deprived haze of bf and Christmas.

mamam 3 years? On one bit of wallpapering? You're right, I'm not impressed now!

TOK ta. I'll have a look at that, there's always something you can learn from these things.

VenusInfers · 21/01/2010 17:36

Oh and Tamlin, ow, ow, ow, ow! [sympathy emoticon]
