Hello FWs!

Have been lurking and reading and trying to catch up.....so, have been out on my own twice this week! !! I know!! TWICE!!

Went to see Jimmy Carr, was fab and also to a friends house. Both times had a drink. 1st was on Saturday to a friends and then ended up at a local pub we know with a late license. Had 3 beers and a stinking hangover the next day...head down a toilet and everything...from 3 beers, i mean FGS!!! Then had to see my sister as her daughter had her 1st birthday. Got a lift there from friend, ended up stranded and relying on BIL to give me lift home. You wouldnt think living in a capital city would be such a nightmare to travel in and tbh, if I was by myself I wouldn't mind TfL but cold, dark and over-tired princess in tow, just couldn't face it. On the upside have booked a driving lesson, so many thanks to you Bebe for the books they're going to come in handy.

DD's cold is better but am now left with a nasty cough. It starts at around 11pm and is so violent that she wakes herself up with it and seems like she is struggling to breathe but as soon as she cries it makes her lungs kick in again and she seems to be fine. If I didn't know better, it would seem like an asthma attack....maybe it is....I dont know, I'm just going to keep an eye on it and see how it goes...any dr's know how to tell?? everytime I go to the GP's they tell me it is nothing to worry about, but it goes on from 11pm until 7am. In the morning she is fine.

Trying to get her back into a proper routine since she was all out of sorts from the cold worked last night, but we shall see how we go today. When I went to see Jimmy Carr, DP was babysitting and as I came in at 11.30 pm she was still awake and so overtired that she was crying her little head off. It was either the last of her cold or she didnt like the fact that I wasn't there...hm, dont know about that either....

Re: meet-up. If DP is working an early shift I'm coming, but if not, then not....won't be able to get a babysitter and am due to go to my family Christmas lunch at my parents the next day (they spend Christmas in Spain so this is when we get together and exchabge pressies) so will probably be last minute notice on whether i'm coming or not

any advice/help/slaps round the face re: this post greatly appreciated...me

Evening daahhhlings

DH is rocking E to sleep (after I tried and failed) and I'm flopping downstairs after a gruelling session with my personal shopper. It's the only way to shop doncha know..

Seriously, she was great but the whole thing was damn tricky with a baby and a pram. However do you all cope with pushing pushchairs everywhere wondering if you'll ever manage to get on a bus where the buggy spot isn't taken? Was definitely a Danger to Life and Property trying to manoeuvre it in shops and I had a seriously embarrassing moment in the ladies when I had to go with the door open so I didn't park my pram full of new clothes unattended in a public area. Still, I didn't tip it up once, and though I may have injured bus passengers' ankles when I had to fold the pram, I don't think I actually drew blood.

So I have a trouser suit (in black unfortunately but with pink flowers embroidered on it), a pink top, a pink pashmina which I look stoopid in and some terrifying patent leather high heels (as trousers were too long and they did look very nice).

Now I am v.v. excited (if rather a lot scared of meeting all the new family). SIL has very cleverly chosen the anniversary of my 20 week scan last year, which is when we found out about Edmund's CCAM and were plunged into fear and trepidation. So clever her, I've been so caught up planning for the snap wedding I'd forgotten to remember the date.

Right, time to pack bags full of sufficient treats DS1 will cope without his beloved ham sandwiches...

GoodKingWhatFreshHellLookedOut · 11/12/2009 21:52

Forgive me ladies for I have sinned. I've just eaten a Dominos pepperoni pizza, a garlic pizza bread, and some waffles with chocolate and toffee sauce. Plus some Coke.

I blame the hangover. And the fact that DP is out on the tiles and I'm not sodding well cooking again.

I feel fat.

Gui sorry to hear the Storch isn't working out for you. I know someone who is thinking of getting one if you're selling, shall I mention it to her?

kingbeat cough sounds horrid, poor little mite. Hope you manage to get some sleep soon.

mrsg your outfit sounds lovely! well done you for doing all that shopping - I took Orbit to the huge Walmart and then Cribbs Causeway (big out of town shopping) on Wed, it nearly killed me.

Going to finish watching Ugly Betty and go to bed to nurse what's left of my hangover.

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 11/12/2009 22:05

I've eaten a whole pack of chocolate fingers. I need them though, for the breastfeeding.

Please do mention the Storch, WFH. £30 posted, though Bicnod has first refusal! Hopefully my Babyhawk will arrive soon! And I am getting an Onbag for my birthday!

GoodKingWhatFreshHellLookedOut · 11/12/2009 22:40

will mention it

chocolate fingers essential

as were the four glasses of wine I drank last night

got to go to bed now before DP gets home all drunk and stoooopid

Elfytigga · 12/12/2009 09:11

I hate chocolate fingers fnar, fnar They've got shortcake in them and there's no good reason for shortcake!

Also, there is no good reason to put pineapple on anything warm - it isn't right.

Carrots - what are they good for? Cake and only cake!

Wasps? If anyone can give me 100 good reasons for keeping the horrible little blighters they can stay come the new world order!

People who say lickle or keckle instead of little and kettle, not because they are being cute but because they just do. They shouldn't be allowed to breed.

Oh, wait a minute there's one of the nice nurses with my pills back later.

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 12/12/2009 09:21

Happy Birthday Puzzle!!!

BAUBLEnod · 12/12/2009 09:24

Oooooooooooooo - chocolate fingers. I ate a load of them yesterday too. For the breastfeeding. We are such martyrs aren't we?

Gui - yes please yes please I would love your Storch (sorry WFH's friend)... do you want to facebook me your bank details and I'll do a transfer? Or I can post a cheque or do paypal...

How exciting

O is still feeling poorly. He wouldn't go to bed last night and fell asleep in my arms which meant I had to stop doing anything, sit down and watch telly for 2 hours. It was awful sitting there cuddling my gorgeous son and watching Have I Got News For You

He has also started grinding his teeth it sounds like nails down a chalkboard.... errrrrrrk

GoodKingWhatFreshHellLookedOut · 12/12/2009 10:17

I have just put fairy lights round Orbit's playpen - do you think this is recommended in Elf and Safety manuals?

In my defence, yer honner, they are rope lights so encased in tough plastic and they don't get hot, and are round the outside of the pen not the inside. The bit I'm worried about is the socket, he could potentially reach it through the bars and fiddle with the transformer, thinking of taping it securely inside a canvas bag, what do you think?

HeiligFeierabend · 12/12/2009 18:52

Lucky Orbit with the fairy lights!

H poorly too, she's been snotty for three days and now has a slight temperature so am in bed next to her, keeping an eye on her. She's not even in her sleepsuit or sleeping bag yet because she fell asleep in DH's arms earlier, half an hour before her bedtime. Poor DD1 is consequently being neglected by mummy again but I can hear her talking to DH downstairs, playing doctor and it's very sweet.

GoodKingWhatFreshHellLookedOut · 12/12/2009 19:01

DS1 keeps setting them to fast flash, I think he's hoping to induce some sort of fit in poor Orbit.

Poor H too - hope she feels better soon

Elfytigga · 13/12/2009 07:22

Crap - missed your b'day Puzzle sorry Hope it was a fabulicous as you are!

Waves to all.

Went to Robins Xmas do last night was ok.

First time I left Sam with anyone for any length of time. I was very brave and did not call, I knew if I called I'd call every 20 minutes, so didn't call at all. Sam was the bestest boy in the whole wide world - natch. Left at 2245 as soooo tired could hardly see straight. Bed at 0000 with Sam waking for a feed. Up again at 0500 for Sams next feed and guess what - I can't get back to sleep.

Will do today on next to no sleep with Robin whining that he's tired. Have just started my period, so if you see in the news that some ginger bloke got stabbed in Ikea Warrington, that was me.

mrsgboring · 13/12/2009 07:49

Morning all

Tigga I have some empathy with you there. I was up at 1am with E and then up for the day at 4 a-bloody-gain. DH, who only just swanned in from his holiday gruelling work trip to Brussels on Thursday, and who slept until DS1 got up at 5.30 then left me with both boys and went back to be bed because he was so tired!!! Now he's down and it's my chance to sleep but of course it's also the only time to do everything I want to get done while he's nominally in charge of the boys. Lunch is in the oven, so I am going back to bed in a minute, honest I swear. Will be having another migraine if I don't.

We are post-wedding here (but not hungover for obv. reasons). It was a really lovely occasion. Will post more later but now I should make the point that I need my rest too by actually getting some.

apologies for me me me wittering on

Elfytigga · 13/12/2009 08:02

mrsg we need pictures if you've got them and descriptions of the food in an Elizabeth David styleeeeeeee

MayBeSlightlyMadButLovingItTiggaxx

mrsgboring · 13/12/2009 11:58

Ah now the food was almost entirely western from Mr Waitrose. But will tell you about the walima in great detail

HeiligFeierabend · 13/12/2009 13:41

Can I have some matchsticks too please? Got bugger all sleep as my head was buzzing from looking at houses (we need a bigger one) and was listening out for Hazel, and she shuffled a LOT. Also DD1 woke us up every half hour between 9.30pm and 1am... asking for a drink / to be tucked in / any old friggin' excuse.

So DD1's now got Hazel's snotty nose so I am thinking she can't have the flu jab tomorrow anyway, after all that fretting. Oh well.

Anyone else feeling like they're on the brink of depression?

we3kingbeat23oforientare · 13/12/2009 14:07

Oh Fei - am feeling your pain....DD is still not over her cough and am going to try and go the GP (AGAIN!!!) tomorrow, but I'm sure they will tell me it's just normal to sound like she choking in her sleep and not to worry
she's also trying to knock out a feed during the day, but i dont want her to be on just 8oz a day. the HV told me to put it in her food, but as she is eating blended food and not puree its difficult to know where to put it!! Went to a friends last night and got home at 9 pm she thought this meant play time when we got home and didnt sleep til 11.30 after alot of wailing shushing and patting..was almost going to post about it, but had a bath instead!!!

Found my favourite jeans in a charity shop for £3, long and lean from gap...THE best fitting jean for anyone BTW....all good a size 10 gap (size 14 uk) and they are TIGHT am going to try the no carb routine, but being skint and replacing it with filling food will be a chore.

On a lighter note, have bought loads of stuff from lush (yes, i know, it stinks!!) so have been having chilled nights at home alone listening to classic fm with DD whilst DP is wokring lates...sigh....

HarkTheHerAuldAngelsSing · 14/12/2009 10:57

Tigga, I have FBd you, as I posted the parcel today.

My SS parcel has just been delivered!!!! I only made it to the PO this morning, as last week was horrendous with DS1 being ill, and I had guests this weekend. Fingers crossed my SS recipient and Nutty's will get their parcels before the 25th.

I decided to try and stop night feeds, as A seemed to be waking ever more often and wanting a wee sook to get back to sleep. I spent 3 hours between 1am and 4pm walking him, rocking him, sushing him and seeing him fall half asleep and then awake enraged.

I read the thread on night feeds after 6mths and am very torn.

Last night was better: A slept from 7:45pm to 1am, when I rocked him to sleep in 5mins, and then till 4am when I fed him. I don't really know where I am going with this, and I feel even worse than before after the awful 3hr stint on Sat night.

If anyone wants a French supermarket bag, I am happy to oblige. FB me and let me know what you want.

SnowyBoff · 14/12/2009 11:17

Just seen consultant.

Apparently I am very angry, in fact so angry I scared the MRI lady on Friday, who then felt the need to tell the consultant "That lady is so angry with me!" For the record I did nothing angry at all, just sat quietly waiting for the bloody thing and then gritted my teeth while I had it because it meant I had to lie in a way that hurt me for 30 minutes, and then hobble out to the car in great pain. She must have a very thin skin, the MRI lady.

I have been told that I now have to Leave My Anger On One Side And Communicate With The People Who Help Me in Order To Get Better.

It has been admitted that there was a total NHS failure and that I should have been treated properly a year ago, but that this in In The Past And We Have To Look Forwards.

I now have a gynae physio appointment this afternoon and apparently have four months of gynae physio boot camp ahead of me, and that I will get worse before I get better.

Think of me as some other woman's gloved hand is shoved up my fanjo. I am not feeling very warrior-like at the moment, tbh.

BabyBolat · 14/12/2009 11:27

Auld snap. I don't know where to go from here either - i tried with k and he is now more needy than ever at night because he is scared I am going to not let him have anything.

we3kingbeat23oforientare · 14/12/2009 11:52

Wow, and there was me feeling sorry for myself.....very big love to all out there....sorry!!

BTW Tigga, think i've found a thread for you!! you'll get loads of stuff stuff for the games networking on FB!! here

we3kingbeat23oforientare · 14/12/2009 11:52

stuff stuff?? sheesh, the sleep depravation is worse than i thought!!

mrsgboring · 14/12/2009 12:57

Auld I dunno about the sleep. My DS1 is officially The Worst Sleeper Ever (apart from my own self as a child) so I know buggerall. But the No Cry Sleep Solution is very big on record keeping. Whether you follow the NCSS techniques or something else, it probably helps to keep a record of night wakings so you can spot genuine improvements through the noise. She says try things for I think it's 10 days and then review if it's working.

Me? I feed to sleep and did do until about 3.4 when I was 8 months pregnant. It wasn't brilliant but I did at least know I could always get him off wherever and whatever the problem was (provided it was before about 5am otherwise up for the day!!) Edmund doesn't always go back with feeding so methinks I shall eventually do something different.

Hugs Boff

Kingbeat does she have breakfast cereal? E stacks quite a bit of milk away on that. You could give it for pudding at another meal too if she likes it.

Am a tad . We've just got all the wedding photos off the camera and there is not a single one of me in them. It's probably the most effort I've spent on my appearance since my own wedding (possibly more even than that) and no photographic evidence to show for it, though DH thinks there will be one on FIL's camera. Am really a bit hurt, especially as I asked him to take one. Sigh.

HarkTheHerAuldAngelsSing · 14/12/2009 13:09

Thanks Mrsg.
I have the no-cry-sleep-solution book, but do I have time to read it? Do I buggery.

There seems to be no pattern. A was waking at 11pm, 1am and then 4 or 5, then he began waking every hour on Fri, which was what made me start a drastic regime on Sat. Then last night he didn't wake at 11, and at 1 he went off quite fast in my arms.

Hugs to boff and empathetic sighs to BB.
