Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

steaknife how scarey. Glad that it is "just" a bug, and not more serious. Hope that you both cope overnight.

Lots of thoughts.

miamla · 25/11/2009 23:09

oh no, are you not well steaky?

miamla · 25/11/2009 23:23

sorry, hadn't refreshed before posting my last message!

steaky hope you're feeling lots better soon. we've done the a&e trip following the baby fall/sick thing..very scary. so glad Izz is ok

Hi everyone, especially real nappy users.

DS is about 14kg (just under) and 86cm tall

I would like to buy him a swimming nappy.

this looks good

but should I buy size 2 or size 3 (size 3 for over 15.5kg)

snotexpectingsnow · 26/11/2009 02:26

TS am I right in saying 'Happy Thanksgiving'?

LWFH wow DS is a complete titch compared to Tomas! No help on the swim nappies I'm afraid we go quite a lot and am a bit to say we use huggies little swimmers. Went swimming yesterday for the first time in ages - rainy season seemed to have come a bit early and DS really seemed to enjoy it - maybe he needed a break from going every day!

Can't remember who was asking but yes the straps are tied on the antelope - he's just too much of a houdini still and can stand up in it which is pretty dangerous. We went out on Sunday for lunch and they had those booster seat things at the restaurant and he seemed to prefer it - I suppose being a big boy and sitting like Mummy and Daddy at the table - so was thinking maybe it was time to change but I can't remember what make they were though.

Sazz more great Christmas shopping I see.

Steaky hope you and Iz are feeling better soon especially before tomorrow!

QoD yes I agree pretty rubbish if you don't get to see them - must be their inner cavemen kicking in! After all I said about DH yesterday he didn't get back till midnight . He was on some management course where his team etc were assessing his strengths and weaknesses - he said he'd be home at 5pm! I sent him a text reading 'I can list a number of weaknesses one being saying one thing and then doing completely the opposite. Please feel free to call and discuss'. He was home 5 minutes later...

On the whole though he does make a real effort to get home one night a week to bath DS and help put him to bed - could you agree something similar? He also almost always gets up in the morning with DS (but I suppose DS is helpful in that he still persists in getting up at the crack of dawn) !

Tis a public holiday here tomorrow for Hari Raya Haji so looking forward to a day off with DH and long weekend.

SNOT Gobble! Gobble! ha ha ha ha ha
haha ha ha haha ha (can you tell it's late and the sillies have set in.)

TwilightSurfer · 26/11/2009 03:47

took reese shopping with me after dinner with the fam. kept her up way past her bedtime but she was having fun with me. i even let her pick out her own christmas presents. she'll never know.

is it wrong that i'm giving her a new diaper bag....because i found one i like. dh looked at me funny when i said it was for reese. i got dd1 a matching satchel for her books. that's all good, right???

totally wiped. pilates at 7:30a in the morning. getting an hour in on the reformer before THANKSGIVING!!!!! so.......night.

if anyone needs me tomorrow, text.

alittlebitshy · 26/11/2009 08:02

am not doing school run - dh is - but i have to run to the drs in a mo (just a check up re my anti deps).

NEVER get on at this time, so feel nicely naughty!

miamla · 26/11/2009 08:35

ooh albs.. you're not nicely naughty... you're very naughty!

we've got a cunning plan here.. i've brought an old keyboard home from work for DS. He's now happily 'typing' whilst i'm on here

snot DS has started sitting reasonably well just on a chair. in fact, he eats better like that than in his antilop so think we'll probably go down the booster seat route too. we've got a travel one so maybe it'd be an idea to try that in the house hmm...sorry...thinking aloud here!
loving your text to DH! Was he v close by anyway or was the timing of your text a coincidence? i'm in a similar situation with DP today. Once a month there's a group that meets for a drink. Every month he leaves in the morning saying 'i won't be late and i will get something to eat before i have any beers' Every month he comes home at midnight, very worse for wear. Needless to say, when he said it this morning i just gave him a

ts i didn't know you could speak turkish

alittlebitshy · 26/11/2009 08:48

miamla you know I have a booster seat similar to yours? With J that was what she sat on from about 20 months i think so it is perfect - you can take it away with you but you don;t need to worry about another one for at home.

saying that I am about to buy one of those quickly inflatable ones ta da as we end up at so many church lunches and stuff it is such a drag to lug over the booster seat, i want something lighter i can hang on the buggy handles. i do have a thing that ties him to ther chair (more humane than it sounds) but of coyrse that is no good for anything other than emergencies as the poor mite can't reach the table then .

dh not back with ds from teh school run yet so am enjoying my moment of peace...

pertelote · 26/11/2009 09:07

What make's your booster seat ALBS? DD is very wriggly at mealtimes now too.

PoinsettiaBouquets · 26/11/2009 09:24

Longway I would go for the size 2. IME of large boys 35lb+ aren't actually required until at least 2yrs - would say don't buy size3 anything until you're sure you need it (eg he might be out of nappies by then). And the size 2 will be adjustable and if it doesn't last long you can always keep for Longway#2.

I too have the chair bondage device that Albs speaks of, recommend it highly (must put it in my handbag actually.) Great for holidays.

DH off sick again today, hurray! Not that I don't feel sorry for him but I am just as ill so it's nice to have someone to share the childcare with, even if it's just a little bit.

Promise I will be better by Saturday though. Speaking of whch does anyone fancy a bit of envelope/goodie bag stuffing that night? I just have loads to do and it is quite fun and quick in a group so I thought since I'm coming by car...?

lwfhthevampireslayer · 26/11/2009 11:18

Thanks for the advice Buckets. My ability to make any form of decision has deserted me.

TwilightSurfer · 26/11/2009 11:22

morning. geez it's early. both girls are fighting for my attention. i keep telling them to go back to bed. my hand is royally hurting this morning. figures since i need it for pilates class in an hour. for those that have asked: i see the hand specialist on monday at 3p. i forsee a small surgery for my future.

longway have you been using cloth since day one? are you planning on doing that with dd? sorry i've forgotten what you've decided to name her. brain is very cloudy these days. the family i nannied for used cloth for the first two years for the first three then by the third is was like hmmpf. i kinda wish i'd tried but we are just too mobile. totally cool if you've done that the whole while.

albs you are too funny. enjoy your naughtiness.

miamla · 26/11/2009 11:58

TS didn't you like my turkish comment? I thought i was being hilarious!

bouquet yeah, sounds erm fun, bring em along! but you'll have to watch albs...don't you remember her report back after she did it for her DH? 3 left of one, two left of another

pertelote we've got this one There are other brands obviously but this one seems most stable one and also, i reckon it'll get a wider bum in so should last a while. Not suggesting your DD has a wide bum at all, just that it will last her a little longer than some of the other similar seats!

CaptainCaveman · 26/11/2009 12:24

Hi gang, am sneaking on at work once again. Well, not so much sneaking, more like using my lunch time for ME instead of working!

Snot, dates for Leeds next year also duly noted

How about aiming for 15th Feb for a northern meet up? It's half term so I'd have both ds's. It's also a very special day indeed

Poor little O had a temp yesterday, think it's just his cough and cold but I've drugged him up and sent him to nursery today . He also had a tooth appear! Now he has 8 he really does look more like

QueenofDreams · 26/11/2009 12:33

Hi ladies
Sorry I didn't come back yesterday afternoon. I was in real 'misery' mode.
However, I did chat with DP last night. Asked him where he sees things going in terms of work, what he wants, what he's aiming for etc. He seemed to think I was having a go at him. But once I got through to him that I'm just trying to get inside his head abit, he was ok (ish) He said he isn't aiming for anything, he's just going month by month trying to keep a roof over our heads and food on our plates Says he doesn't see any other solution but what he's doing right now. When I get a job we can discuss what he wants to do I think.

ALBS I have only just seen your offer from yesterday. That is very kind I will have a think and let you know.

alittlebitshy · 26/11/2009 12:50

miamla sssssshhhhh kep up the ilusion that I am envelope stuffer extraordinaire!!!!!!!!!

do we think we're staying in or going out then coming back in on saturday night????? I rreckon i want to be home by midnight and that is a mega late night for me!!!! (then again it is only a 10 min journey esp at that time fo day!). Wish i could join pajama party Darn church.

alittlebitshy · 26/11/2009 12:55

pert I think ours is a safety first one. Was v good with dd. My dd was never the smallest of toddlers and it did the job, as miamla suggests with heres until she didn;t need it any more. I cna't remember when she was tall enough to sit at te table without it (but she is tall so posisbly earlier than some...)

TwilightSurfer · 26/11/2009 14:20

Miamla I did! I did love your comment!! I'm all about the turkish language today. LOL!!!

cyteen · 26/11/2009 15:12

Hello all, am at work after spending two hours trying not to fall asleep in an out-of-office meeting When will the lingering virus shift? It's very tedious feeling knackered all the time.

cyteen · 26/11/2009 15:19

Sorry, that was the most boring post EVAH. I'm off to take myself out back for a medicinal shooting.

Just been to dd's ballet dress rehearsal. Is one big yuawn as the mums have to sit in one room and wait while the girls practice then we are called in to take a picture, then change their costunme then all over again.

miamla · 26/11/2009 17:39

i spoke to steaky earlier and she's feeling better but is losing her voice so quite hard to understand what she was saying! they're still on for the miamla sleepover

albs think the plan is to stay in but i'm happy to go out if that's what the majority want!

sazz as you say, hopefully three things ticked off now so rest of time will be glorious

ts good good or should that be gobble gobble
