a) TOK covered this one. You need a zinc-based cream, and it can help to leave their bottoms out in the air for a bit - put them on the bathroom floor on a towel as they're BOUND to wee or poo! Also, don't use soap when you're cleaning them in the bath, and if the rash gets bad, stop using all nappy wipes and go back to cotton wool and water. Even the ones which say 'super sensitive no fragrance' still can irritate their skins (DS 1 has eczema, I know whereof I speak!)
b) Nope, I have hairy babies who stay hairy (although DS1 went from very dark hair to being a towhead within six months - see profile pic). Bit worried because Arthur has tiny tufts on his ears and they're not falling out - have mental images of needing to shave my Wolverine child's ears before school every day...
c) With my first child, the doc tried to examine my stitches south of the border and said 'I'm not even going to try to check you internally, the bruising is far too severe, come back at ten weeks for another check' and I went home and WEPT. This time, he just checked the caesarean incision, confirmed that the swelling was because I'd probably wrenched the healing muscles underneath, and gave Arthur a going-over.
d) We're getting Arthur a lambskin to lie on - he seems to be more tactile than DS 1, and he likes his fluffy soft blankets. I think we got DS 1 his Fisher Price rainforest thingummy to lie under for his first Christmas, and he loved it.
e) Nope!
f) Augh. Tried unsuccessfully. Rotten breastfeeding is the culprit, I think.
g) Good! I really do love snuggling with my fat currant-bun baby. (And whomever thought baby poo smelt nice, I sort of agree with you - it smells like cinema popcorn to me.)
