You see that's what I thought Pistachio. It doesn't seem very likely does it? Plus it doesn't hurt at all which would suggest it's nothing. The only thing I was thinking was it I could have given myself a hernia. Considering that my stomach muscles would be weak in that area I guess it's a possibility.

CSWS - You'd better be at least on your way to A&E!

star - I think they sometimes zap instead of removing depending on number and size of stones. Have no idea how many I have or how big, and also no idea whether that's more or less possible than removal during pregnancy. I'm around 9.5 weeks at the moment.
Am currently in a and e waiting to be seen.
Hope you are there too 50ft,.

CSWS. My sister had her gall bladder removed by keyhole surgery following several excruciating episodes like yours. 3 tiny incisions, 2 in her tummy one in her belly button. Took about a week to feel sort of better then another week to be tippy top so not too long a recovery. Hope you are OK.
She's been fine since (and lost loads of weight)

We decorated our place for Christmas today. Q helped hang ornaments He also got inside of an ornaments box and sat down and DH and I pushed him back and forth between us on the living room floor. He thought that was a blast!

csws. I hope the tablets help. Do they only do surgery if it's really serious, like life threatening? Maybe if you just get it out then you won't have to worry about it anymore and deal with all that pain! I'm really glad you went, though. I had to LOL quite loud at your friend's comment about "if you're contemplating, then you should definitely go" (something like that) because if someone gave me that advice, I'd have my own parking space in the A&E by now, gold plated with my name engraved... and a "fast track" pass to get in the pediatric A&E really quickly.... or maybe my photo on the wall behind reception with a big red exclamation mark and a warning

I can still hear crackling/fluid in Q's lungs. He had his last does of the antibiotics last sunday... and he now has that horrid cough back at night and in the morning. Last night he was doing some of that wheezing again and I gave him the inhaler with the spacer and that stopped the wheezing. I'm going to make an appointment for him with the GP tomorrow (one of the "emergency" appts that you can only get if you call after 2.30pm). I just don't know if I'm crazy or if it just takes a while longer to clear up? It's been a few weeks... and he had that cough before the pneumonia for a couple of weeks. I just don't know what's going on?

StarExpat · 29/11/2009 19:15

dose not does.
paediatric for uk eyes, not pediatric.

Ronshar - Is asthma hereditary? and likely to be passed down or just can be iyswim? I have asthma and have had since very small. It's not as bad as an adult but has been a bit noticeable this season for some reason. I don't smoke or hang around anyone who does.

StarExpat · 29/11/2009 19:45

ohmygod. My sister is so stupid. She's never left the country (america). She was surprised last year that we didn't celebrate thanksgiving here wonder why?? duh. Then she just asked me if people in england celebrate christmas.
I didn't answer, I just said... "well, England is historically predominantly a christian country...."

CSWS - I too have been following your ordeal on FB. Glad you've been seen and that you have something to try and help, which I hope it does! I have decided that I probably have an incisional hernia so I'll pop to my GP tomorrow (or more likely the walking clinic which is about five minutes away rather than the 1.5 mile walk to my GP).

Star - Asthma and it's friends eczema & hayfever are indeed hereditary. If you have one of them then your offspring are likely to suffer from the same. Tell your sister 'Tsk'! Am I right in thinking that in the US, once Thanksgiving is over, Christmas begins? My mum has just got back from her friend's daughter's house in California and the Christmas decorations started going up the day after Thanksgiving.

I have felt sick and dizzy all day which is rubbish. M was sick this afternoon so maybe we're ill!

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/11/2009 20:17

lol star
That friend of mine that you mention is a very wise and esteemed MNer you know. The first letter of her first name is a good clue.

The triage nurse asked me to rate my pain on a scale of 0-10, with 0 being no pain, and 10 being the worst pain imaginable. I gave myself a 7 and she seemed quite impressed, as apparently an awful lot of people say 10 straight away. I pointed out that I'd done childbirth .
Anyway, the tablets reduce the pain from a 7 to a 5, but they wore off before the next dose had kicked in earlier, and I was up to an 8. Stupidly they said they'd given me enough for a week, but in fact there's only enough for half that, so I'm likely to have to go to GP again in the next couple of days.

Ekka · 29/11/2009 20:19

Star . An absolute classic!!!! Bless her....
Asthma can be hereditary, the fact dh has asthma increases the risk our dcs will. And probably the reason M has such bad eczema/allergies is because of dh & I both having eczema and dh's asthma. But its very rare for kids to be labelled with asthma before 3 yrs old as loads of little kids have wheezing etc that they grow out of apparently. I hope that Q is feeling better soon.

CSWS - Poor you.... I hope the painkillers are working? I don't know much about gallstones, is this flare-up likely to ease back soon? If not have they given you any idea of a further course of action? Lets hope the kids give you an easy time?!?!

50ft, how are you feeling? Are you off to see a doctor too?

My sinuses are totally blocked so I've been grouchy all day. I don't do any kind of pain really . We got the decorations down from the roof today but no decorating till December for us.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/11/2009 20:19

Oh yes, I meant to answer the asthma question too, but now 50ft has done it for me.

And I'm loling at 'walking clinic' rather than walk in, as I now have visions of a clinic with legs running around away from the patients .

StarExpat · 29/11/2009 20:20

Sorry you're ill 50ft

Yes, Thanksgiving is always a Thursday. The friday after thanksgiving is called "black friday" and everyone goes shopping. Stores open up WAY ridiculously early and have amazing sales and people line up for hours sometimes. I've never been shopping on black friday. Too scared. It's always on the news, though!

And all decorations start going up the day after usually! We usually waited until 1st December, though.

I really hope Q doesn't have asthma. It might just be from being ill before... it is the most horrible thing. And scary - the feeling that you just cannot get a breath is very very scary. I don't want Q to ever have to experience a true asthma attack

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/11/2009 20:21

Could be a couple of days, could be a few weeks Ekka. I'm obv hoping for the former!
When we first discovered I had them it was a week or so after having dd, and the pain was worse than the birth. They are the kind of things that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy.

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 29/11/2009 20:28

Leave me alone CSWS, I'll ill and I have a strange lumpy/squashy tummy.

StarExpat · 29/11/2009 20:33

Who is the MNer? I can't figure it out

50ftQueenie · 29/11/2009 20:35

Hey!!!! Don't you start too Star

StarExpat · 29/11/2009 20:37

Did you get it checked out, 50ft?

btw, I have a pain in my lower abdomen when I sneeze or cough. And sometimes I'm just driving or sitting and it starts to hurt a lot. This was happening a few months ago - I think I mentioned it on here, not sure. But it went away, and now it's back, but not sure it's the same thing. Because it didn't hurt when coughing before. And I think it's on the other side
Just wondering if anyone has experienced this sort of thing and know what it is? It might just be something really common... I don't want to visit A&E if it is
And it's not premenstrual cramps.

I want to know who the MNer is... going to do a search

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/11/2009 20:51

Star, her name starts with H. Say it out loud.

Honeymoonmummy · 29/11/2009 21:04

Hey all, I've finally caught up properly! (5 pages!!) CSWS, how are you feeling now?

50ft, I am completely grossed out by your squishy tummy, a tad TMI do you think perhaps??? Hope it's nothing too serious and that you've been feeling grotty all day.

Star, I don't know what that is but maybe you could google it or wait till someone who has a clue comes along

We got our decorations out today, getting quite excited about Christmas now despite the fact I have going back to work looming over me!

I've just read the posts of what your LO's eat in the day - OMG! Poppy eats nowhere near as much! I'm not worried about her tho as they weighed her at the paed visit the other week and she's now on the 50th centile for weight having spent her life on the 25th [proud]

I've been meaning to say, I need ideas on what to give for a mid-meal snack, I always seem to just give her milk and a box of raisins or a piece of fruit. 50ft, what are those humzingers you were on about? Has anyone else got any good ideas for mid-meal snacks?

Those of you who want to do secret santa at £5, I'm about to start a FB group thread, we can sort it out on there

50ftQueenie · 29/11/2009 21:09

Hello hmm - Humzingers were introduced to us by CSWS. They are dried fruit bars and are very yummy. They are soft so easier to eat than fruit leather (which is also yummy) and come in a variety of flavours. M would take your arm off to get one! M and P sound very similar. M doesn't eat much and has recently settled just below the 50th centile for weight, having hovered around the 60th for most of her life. She is still very tall though. I will check out fb.

Honeymoonmummy · 29/11/2009 21:11

Fruit leather??? Sounds delightful...

50ftQueenie · 29/11/2009 21:14

It's just squashed fruit, it's mainly an Aussie thing I believe so that probably accounts for the unusual name!
